The EotW falls into the same category as the red dragon. Great cards in a vacuum, but what the hell is the connection to the theme? It just seems odd that they have these really solid themes that are being carried out with all the stuff we're seeing and then these "weirdos".
This seems very strong. Little dicey to play, but if you can get him flipped, oh boy! Endless 1/1 deathtouch!?! Not to mention use his own token to fetch something else. Oh, and Liliana helping to fuel his ultimate? Nice!
On a side note, doesn't this leave us one werewolf short that isn't a flip now?
Think some people are forgetting there is a strong B/G Pod deck out there already. Now, this deck is based on sac'ing creatures and we have this fun new keyword, morbid. If morbid has some fun stuff like landfall...good times. Oh, in that deck you could also resolve her turn 2. That is some ideas based on already know cards, and we have another 200 or so cards in this release plus two other releases.
Liliana is going to be one hell of a morbid machine! If morbid falls into the same scale and usage of landfall in Zendikar Black, she will not be JTMS level but still a very awesome walker!
Kruin is the first werewolf card that has made me go, "I want a play set!". In Day form you could have a 4/4 first strike which is always awesome. In night, who doesn't love a 3/3 double strike?
Whoa, I planned on picking up a box already but this news makes me think two is in order. As to your original question, one would think having only 14 mythics would make the odds better on getting your card. That's a big if at this point though seeing some of the curve balls this set has thrown already.
Imagine being the one that pulls a Lilanna and Garruk from the same pack in a draft.
I'm going to use my normal colored back sleeves and just print out the "back" cards on paper and use that when I flip the card. The checklist bothers me in one of those personal irrational ways. lol
I like the idea having not played it yet. I do some drafts, but only comp. one will probably be the release one so no big deal there. I personally will probably print out the backside card out on paper put that out on the two sided card so I can use the regular cards in my deck. Not a huge fan of the checklist, but I really don't have a good replacement idea for it.
Ral won't be in the innistrad block (second paragraph, last line), and I'm willing to bet (since now we KNOW not all Duels of the planewalkers X walkers will end up as cards) Koira won't be there either.
She was in that huge poster with all printed walkers though. Just so happens all the printed walkers happen to also be the only walkers that exist to us at that time.
Just spit balling here but my thoughts on what the 5 walkers will be in the block:
Lilana: B Hard to see her as not mono B now that she is free to do whatever.
Garruk: G/B Could be mono G or get crazy and go G/R, but G/B is my bet.
Sorin: B We don't really know anything else, but maybe Sorin's Vengeance is an over looked glimpse to him shifting a bit red?
Ajani: G/W Wasn't there some data mined info from DotPW that contained a G/W deck for him? Helps "balance" the PW a bit. Story wise there is no connection.
5th one is tricky. Maybe Nissa goes hell bent on tracking down Sorin and she is the walker that shifts red? I don't see how at this point the merfolk fits in at all, but other then the DA info why does Sorin fit in?
I could see this artwork being used for the veil's curse effects type card. Awesome to see the set of planeswalkers that are getting some love. Although, the newest released Garruk seems like he'll be doing some heavy lifting unless the new one blows him out of the water.
Just got done popping open my box not to long ago.
Mythics were:
Grave Titan
Angelic Destiny
Bloodlord of Vaasgoth
Furyborn Hellkite
Inferno Titan Foil
Finally got back to playing Magic again! Doing some casual stuff for now, but I get my job situation straightened out and i'm going to play some tournaments!
Still figuring some stuff out considering last I played was Ice Age.
Clearly I was going after the trademark aspect there, not zealous christian parents...or whatever reason they avoided demons way too much or took the pentagram out of unholy strength. Nope, it was clearly because someone owned a trademark.
Well if you really want to nitpick, the pentagram is a pegan symbol and not any type of satanic symbol.
WotC said they were doing away with the no devil and etc policy, so bring on the little tricksters!
