I have no issue with the change, but the reasons they cite are bogus. People play blue because it's blue, not for the tucking. Folks play white because they want the sweepers or the sweet utility, not because of tucks. And I have never heard of anyone cite "it finds my commander" as a reason to play a tutor. It's a sweet side effect, but we play tutors because at heart, we all know that commander isn't really played as a singleton format, there's a suite of spells that you definitely built your deck with in mind. And it is certainly no great hardship to unsleeve a basic when your commander is tucked, to maintain sleeve uniformity..
As a guy for whom the game is mainly EDH, I feel as though WotC did alright. Good utility in Black and Red are never terrible, and I cannot complain about an Oracle of Mul Daya that is more on curve in Thrun, the Last Troll. Beyond that, Born of the Gods adds some sweet new tools to the draft environment, and should revitalize the as of late weak Sunday drafts that I get in my store.
You can not target it with Gift of Orzhov, as it's a spell while it's on the stack. However, if it was returned to the battlefield (with Sun Titan for example) it could be attached to the paladin without it falling off afterwards.
Also, as for the Fiend Hunter look alike, it can not target itself with it's own trigger even if another trigger would steal it from you. All triggers must target immediately when placed on the stack.
Cheers
Hands up if you read the "your opponents control" clause. This ability is just a mechanically better version of hexproof, which is a stupid mechanic.
Nice call on Rise, I forgot about that card honestly. I don't look at things for EDH though, because you can play like everything in EDH, so it isn't a fair metric.
Wizards has officially killed Sakashima the Imposter I hope someone dies of kidney failure for this. Going out to stock up on native American traditional curse supplies now.
Hey guys. I'm the designer of "Mass Mummification" and I appreciate those who voted for me and the constructive criticism of those who didn't.
It does nothing upon hitting the board, requires me to have 13 power on board to kill you, and will get me hit upside the head in a game of EDH. Meh design is meh. Also, the flavor of that name means nothing. Why does getting gradually mummified heal me if I've taken damge beyond the process?
Why on the name of the Almighty does Consuming Contract make you pay life to draw the cards? You already agreed to pay a price by casting the crow-begotten thing, so why do need to pay again to draw cards? That said, its my personal favorite of the 8, I hope it wins.
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.
Seriously? Sin collector is Really good. Orzhov charm is also really good. Vendetta and a Rescue spell? I mean seriously...VENDETTA! and no Teysa wouldn't have costed 4 because that is stupid and limited warping.
Nothing that dies to Searing Spear without fetching Batterskull is format warping.
WAIT. NO. AW MAN. Why is m12 not still in standard? this could be the BIGGEST middle finger deck ever.
Hit with master..............
TASTE IN BLOOD YOU, BETCH.

Spoken like a man who doesn't play much EDH.
What is wrong with Jace? The name means nothing from a gameplay perspective besides nerfing the already existing Jaces.

You mean the others are far and away better than this one.
Fair enough.
Nothing that dies to Searing Spear without fetching Batterskull is format warping.
Oh, but it is. It compels someone to lose their will to fight. That's obedience magic at it's finest.
