I came to the same conclusion about a year ago, I've spent much time reflecting on it. After sitting on the fence for a long while I finally came to the decision to sell out this july when SCG visits. I'm going to use the funds to fuel another collecting hobby that i get much more enjoyment out of these days, watches, and it doesn't depend on interacting with someone else for me to enjoy it. I will miss the game, the decision didn't come easy, but wotc is taking it in a direction i disagree with. After 20 years its time to say good bye.
yes more bans is the answer. continue to weaken the format, leaving the door open to this situation again and again. don't raise the power level of the format, don't unban anything, so that new powerful cards create these tsunamis because all the have nots will cry about what they can't afford or don't have. i love this.
This format and game as whole is heading in a direction I no longer wish to partake in. I've been on the fence about selling out for a while and now its settled, I can hardly find a legacy tourney and modern is garbage imo, there is nothing keeping my interest. I'll be happy if I can get 50% of 35k+ worth of legacy and modern staples, I'll get more joy out of a new rolex deep sea.
fair/unfair are absurd and subjective. Those words grate on my ear drums. either the card is too good for the format or it isn't, none of the other adjectives matter. SFM is too good at this time. And this is coming from someone that wants everything unbanned, but I am realistic and not delusional.
what decks are being pushed out of the meta or being oppressed by bloom? i dont play the deck but i find the ban happy attitude saddening. modern should have a moderate power level, not a mediocre one.
amulet bloom is no where near as consistent as post rtr storm but listening to you guys make it sound like it's more consistent than sneakshow in legacy. thanks for reminding me why i don't read this thread anymore.
I'm just getting back into magic and have been watching this modern masters for a while and if you look at the graphs right now average price is $235 a box. Don't forget with specialty sets they climb in value. One month from now when those vendors are sold out or only have a couple left due to hoarders you can bet they would be at $250 as an average. Maybe two months.
I can't find a box for less than 250$ around here, maybe I was a little too late, and many places are asking closer to 300$ per box. I'm all set paying those prices, but I might catch a draft this weekend.
keep ruining the format
yay more bans!
An argument could be made that modern is weaker now than it was then.
and no i don't play the deck.
