Ancestral Vision doesn't solve the biggest issue you have going into the later turns - they can play whatever they topdeck. Refuelling on discard doesn't matter in most cases. When it was unbanned I immediately started trying it out but didn't have any significant results worth sharing. The deck already has Asylum Visitor for drawing cards, the only time AV is remotely good is when facing anoter AV and other than Nahiri there aren't any good decks that run it to warrant slots in our deck.
Thank you for the response. I'm going to do my own testing anyways to come to my own conclusion. I'll probably end up back at mono black with Asylum Visitor (that card is awesome by the way.)
Are there any other blue cards that you can think of that might be useful? Since I'm going to be testing blue splash anyways at my local tournaments. I'm considering testing Jace, Vryn's Prodigy as well, just to explore a new direction for the deck. Yes, it may end up being completely sub-par, but since this deck has been stagnating for so long I'd like to try something different.
I've been following this thread for years now, and I'd like to contribute. I had an idea brewing since recent the ban list change in order to solve the lack of card draw in this deck.
The idea is to leave Ensnaring Bridge in the sideboard or vice versa, as they obviously are a huge nombo together. I'm sure there are a few other cards that blue could offer as well, just not nearly as many as other colors. I haven't been able to find ANY information on the net about Ancestral Vision in 8Rack. But this could possibly be just what we need for those situations where the other deck is still drawing cards to stay out of The Rack range, and our beaters are unable to swing for damage either.
Ripping a Swamp, Wrench Mind, and a Thoughtseize on turn 6 or 7 could easily turn the tide when top-decking just isn't enough.
Plus I have a playset that's been collecting dust for years now when they were $5 a piece.
Are you the guy on the Smallpox Invasion Facebook group that went with 4 Collective Brutality instead of 4 Wrench Mind?

Splash blue for Ancestral Vision.
