Permanents tapped via Gridlock will stay tapped until either the next untap step of that permaments' controller, or if untapped any other way.

Basically, permanents tapped via Gridlock don't stay tapped unless enchanted by Claustrophobia, for example.

I was playing Nicol Bolas EDH on cockatrice because poor, and I was being targeted for the crime of ticking Tamiyo, the Moon Sage up to 7 counters before anyone could deal with it (I did literally nothing to protect it).

Anyway, I cant remember exactly what made me do this, but I decided to Spelltwine my Time Warp, and my opp's Conflux (they were playing Child of Alara.dec). The table conceded as I was tutoring.

    f-ing cockatrice.

Also, just on your "I'm new" comment, if you attempt to do something, and your opponent says you can't do that, call a judge. They are the authority on the game at FNM and they'll assist you however they can.

FNM is held at Casual REL - most innocuous slip-ups will probably constitute a verbal warning at most, if a judge is called at all. YOu would only get DQ'd if you a) actually cheated, or b) severely disrupted the tournament.

If you're talking about missing triggers, or committing any game errors that harm you, the opponent will probably le you take back the move or rewind, as long as you do it right away - for example, if i cast hero's downfall targeting something, then straight-away think "oh crap, didnt want to do that", 8/10 the opponent wont care if i go "wait, no, not doing that.". At higher REL's its not that simple.

Hope I helped Kekeke have fun at fnm

    Quote from aftermarketradio
    Non-creature
    Locust Nest GG
    Enchantment – Aura (U)
    Enchant land
Whenever mana from enchanted land is used to play an Insect spell, put a 1/1 green Insect creature token into play.
"Keep your head down, my son. The Abhindas have claimed this region, too, and we must find a place to camp before nightfall." -- Cecil Rexic

    Creature
    Converging Swarm 6BB
    Creature - Insect Horror (R)
Whenever an opponent plays a creature, if Converging Swarm is in your hand, you may reveal it and pay 1B. If you do, put a 1/1 black Insect creature token into play.
    Affinity for Insects
    Flying, lifelink
"When we heard the swarm approaching, my father looked me in the eye and gave me one last bit of instruction: 'Run.'" -- Luc Rexic
    5/5

Locust Nest - I like this. I think this could have been a great chance to bring in Insects as a tribe - having tribal spells that are insects would have been sick.
Converging Swarm - I think that its triggered ability and its affinity actually conflict in this scenario - affinity encourages you to dump insects as fast as possible, but the trigger encourages you to hope your opponent plays a guy.

    Quote from PsyOp
I'm thinking of a world that has lived under the heel of an oppressive regime for too long has bred a generation that is sick of it and has risen up in rebellious opposition.

    Creature:
    Recalcitrant Preacher WW
Creature - Human Rebel Cleric (U)
    Protection from Black
Martyr - W, exile ~ from your graveyard: Prevent the next 3 damage that would be dealt to target creature or player.
    2/2
"You may have taken mine but you will never take the freedom of my brothers and sisters"

    Non-Creature:
    Marrath's Decree 3WB
    Sorcery
Destroy all creatures. Each player loses 1 life for each creature they controlled that was destroyed this way.
Marrath has the final word in all dealings within her realm

Recalcitrant Preacher - Neat card. I think that martyr might be the wrong name for the ability word, but thats just me.
Marrath's Decree - This is a decent wrath. Assuming its meant to be Rare? if so, it makes sense.

    Quote from Ink-Treader
    Maculate Amphitheater
    Land (R)
Maculate Amphitheater enters the battlefield tapped unless you exile three cards from your graveyard.
T: Add B or R to your mana pool.
“They say more blood was spilled at just one of these than during the entirety of the Purge. I shiver when I ponder about why.”
    -Kalemi, historian

    Penitent Revenant 1W
    Creature - Spirit (U)
Follow the light - 1WW: Return Penitent Revenant from your graveyard to the battlefield. Activate this ability only if a card left your graveyard this turn.
"No amount of yearning for the light can earn the damned an escape from this dying world."
    -The Shrouded One

    2/1

Maculate Amphitheater - It looks like a good Rare dual-land cycle, and a good twist on slowlands - but it looks like this is meant to be a graveyard-based plane, so having cards in graveyards seems like something you want.
Penitent Revenant - I like the Follow the Light ability. Can this happen at instant speed? I think it would be more balanced if it were sorcery speed. Also, it might be hard to get cards to leave the graveyard, and still have mana up to "Follow the Light".

    Quote from GameWorldLeader
A primitive plane in many standards, Crynthea is divided by two different mindsets; those who believe in growth and development, and those who believe in order and strict governing. Now a war is threatened over how should the plane advance.

    Voice of the Wilds 2UG
    Creature - Elemental -- Uncommon
    Flying
Experience - When Voice of the Wilds deals damage to a player, you may pay G/U mana . If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
They say the forest is the wisest of all beings.
    3/3

    Repel the Assailants 1WW
    Instant -- Uncommon
Exile target attacking creature. Put a 1/1 white Soldier creature token onto the battlefield.
"Defend your lives, your families, your futures!" --Gyrin, of Blood

Voice of the Wilds - At worst it is just a worse Sligh effect. However, its flexibility makes it somewhat viable. Flavourwise, makes a good amount of sense.
Repel the Assailants - Decent removal. The fact that it is all upside is balanced by the targeting restriction of an attacking creature.

    Quote from Koopa
I still have time to get in a submission right? The deadline is tonight right?

Alisate is a world that is 90% ocean. It wasn't always this way however. The world used to be a near perfect balanced between sea and land until a thief, Jamoury Kilo, found and stole the Scale of Locond and awoke the ancient giant leviathan who claimed the world as his domain. With the population of the world crammed onto what little land is left, the people of Alisate have set off to find the relic, imprison Locond, and return the world to balance.

    Wall of Kelp G
    Creature - Plant Wall (C)
    Defender
    1G: Regenerate Wall of Kelp.
Our harpoons passed right through it. Our swords got caught in it's vines. Who would think in a sea of leviathans, krackens, and sharks that we would be bested by some damn plants!
    0/1

    Harpoon Cannon 3
    Artifact (U)
You may choose not to have Harpoon Cannon untap during your untap step.
3, T: Harpoon Cannon deals 1 damage to target creature. Tap that creature. It doesn't untap during it's controller's untap step for as long as Harpoon Cannon remains tapped.

Wall of Kelp - Flavourfully well done, but this seems like a filler common.
Harpoon Cannon - The card mechanically works well, but a harpoon cannon doesn't evoke the flavour of trapping something so it doesnt move. Maybe if it was a net, and it didnt deal damage, it would make more sense flavourwise.

    Quote from Ghorak
Cockatrice is filled with bad ragequitters

Yesterday an opponent tried to cast Electrolyze using a Tectonic Edge, a Steam Vents and Mystic Gate.

I asked: "how do you get blue and red mana?"
He replied (paraphrasing): by having a sexual intercourse with your mother.
Then he quit and I laughed.

I had one on Cockatrice where I was playing Bolas Control in EDH. Cast Spelltwine, targeting my Time Warp, and a Conflux in another bin. The whole table scooped with cries of "Unimaginative deck", and "Unfair" and the like.

That's not to mention every time I'm playing standard and they quit after their 5th-6th creature is killed. Sure, I'll concede in the face of insurmountable odds and leave the game with a semi-abrupt "gtg, gg", but I haven't just quit unexpectedly.

    Yeah I'm in for this.

    Creature

    Kedrick, Seige Expert 1WW
Legendary Creature - Human Warrior (R)
Fortifications you control have fortify W
Whenever a fortification enters the battlefield under your control, you may draw a card.
"Kedrick has been instrumental in the defense of this citadel for the past twenty years. Not one adversary has penetrated these walls in that time." - Tavaris
    2/2

    Non-Creature

    Crumbling Foundations 2R
    Sorcery (C)
Destroy target land. If that land was fortified, Crumbling Foundations deals 1 damage to each creature controlled by that land's controller.
Be sure to build your castle on stable ground; or the ground will punish you for it.

i see jayker shroud the lens in a dark aura. I try to assist him.

    Charged Barrier 2
    Artifact (R)
As Charged Barrier enters the battlefield, choose a colour.
Permanents you control with counters placed on them have protection from the chosen colour.
The barrier is powered by the energy of the items within its bounds.

(Attempt to block out the light on the lens. Cast choosing white.) Goal for challenge: 20

(OOC: without saying anything else about the card, maybe you should pick a name for the card that doesn't already exist - see Plunge into Darkness)

I take the glass lens from Exadier, turning it over in my hands.

To Jayker I say "I think you should attempt to shroud this item in the darkness required - I can sense some dark energy within you. I will help as best I can."

(I think the darkness-inducing spell should be black, and since I don't have black mana Jayker needs to do it. I'll design a spell to synergise with Jaykers' spell.)

I see Chambles the Easily Fuddled assisting in the arrest of some thief, which is a nice thing to do. Heading into Brightrock Camp with the Cat in tow, I start asking the Cat some questions: "What is your name?"; "Who is your master?"; "What's so special about this dagger you're searching for?"

After hearing some (or no) replies, we run into Exadier Jasson, who appears to be running this encampment.

"Hello there, good campmaster. We just came from Arwendale, and my friend here is looking for some equipment. Where might we be able to find some? Also, I'm after some work where I can earn some coin. Can you provide me with any?"

To the merchant: "I have little interest in your mercantile desires, aside from what I might need to buy at some stage. Seeing as I have no money, that may take a while. I did indeed see the vision of the Pylians, and my first instinct is to assist them so I can get back to my home. To that end, you're welcome to join us."

To the leonin: "It is unfortunate that this store does not contain a dagger. But I'm more than happy to help you look for an adequate dagger for your master, as I cannot create one now."

Without any further input from the leonin, I decide to head over to the Pylian Stone. I see a plateau through the gem, and I teleport to Beacon Peak with the leonin (and Jayker if he is so inclined).

Arriving from Arwendale, I look around at my surroundings.

    (What do I see?)

I thank Otto profusely for helping me out with my equipment purchase, vowing to help him the next time he has a problem. I feel that it would be best if I stick with him in the future. However, the presence of this Cat Warrior has me concerned.

    (Equip armour and staff)

i follow the Cat out of the store and catch up with him.

"What seems to be the problem with the store? Have I made a mistake buying these?"

(trying to sort out what the cat's problem is.)
