Shadowmoor's just not that bad- there's always the elves, and failing that, most of the threats aren't super-hard to deal with.
Innistrad's also not that hard to survive in as a planeswalker. A normal human is screwed, but a mage with an entire library's worth of spells?
Zendikar- Okay, this one's bad. Very bad. Thing is, the Eldrazi won't follow you, like Phyresis will. They'll just kill you.
Dominaria- Not terrible. I mean, yeah, starvation, world's falling apart- but at least there's some hope of survival. Go through a time rift, fight on a mercenary gang, the like.
Grixis- Hard to live in? Yes. Good thing lichdom is pretty common.

Search target player's hand for a nonland card with converted mana cost X or less. You may cast it without paying its mana cost.
Are you an MTGO, paper, or MWS/Cockatrice player?
Nope, although I have Cockatrice.
How often do you have Magic related thoughts during a day?
About an hour a day on average, spread out.
How often do you have Magic related thoughts when you are trying to focus on another task?
A bit. Usually nothing more than a quick distraction.
Do you spend more money than you are comfortable with to keep up with the metagame?
Nope. I don't even play any formats besides casual.
Do you find it hard to sell cards you are not currently using and have no plans to use?
I don't sell cards. I would, but there aren't any buyers in my area.
How many hours do you spend playing Magic a week (not goldfishing decks)?
Maybe five. At most.
How many hours do you spend a week on Magic related activities other than playing the game?
More like seven.
Would others say you prioritize Magic over other important activities?
Nope.
How would you react if you had no access to Magic cards, or Magic related content for a 2 week period?
In spoiler season? Freaked out. Out of spoiler season? Yay, I can waste an afternoon reading all the DailyMTG articles for the last two weeks!
What Magic color is your favorite?
Blue and Red, all the way.
Underwhelming at first sight, but Isperia looks very playable and I'd be glad to use Niv as a finisher in a U/R counterburn that I assume will be possible after release. Not as good as the old Niv, or at least doesn't have the same ridiculous EDH potential, but fun anyway. Will pick up a few.
Couldn't care less about the format they're in, but so glad the books are back. Doug Beyer did a nice job with Alara Unbroken, eagerly awaiting the release of this one.
Not really a fan of it- but we'll need to see more. All the mechanics this time around seem very linear, more like cool abilities for a card, not much to build around.
It's good that they shouted out to the events in the original Ravnica block, but is there actually any explanation for how the guilds reasserted control? Seems a pretty big thing to squish into two sentences.
@Magickware99: Pretty much. Mana Leak is competitive, and then Cancel is laughed at. There's a difference of U. Card advantage, specifically drawing, is like that, too.
Obviously Bolas has been controlling his mind behind the scenes in order to give noobs Grand Prix wins, thereby possibly getting them into an influential position with the Development team, which he can then destroy with the power of his minions, allowing his loyal servant MaRo to overthrow Gleemax. Duh.
