Oct 30, 2010Psychomagus posted a message on Nixilis Wave [T2 - G/B]Actually none of them will go off. They will all be placed in the graveyard as a state based effect once Genesis wave has resolved and before the triggers from Ob can go to the stack. You see, SBE check right before the next time a player would gain priority. Hence the game rules see multiple copies of Ob in play and they are all placed in their owner's graveyard.Posted in: PhoenixM Blog

"Obvious answer is 3 on each" is unnecessary. If it was obvious the poster wouldn't have asked the quesiton. Might not have been intended to be rude, but it sounds rude.
The question was answered and this thread has been done with for about a week. Locking this to avoid any off-topic discussion in reply to this post. When you see rudeness in a post and you want to do something about it, please report it using the 'report' button in the lower corner.

Yes, in order for a spell to target anything, the word target must be used in the text. In this case it says "Tap ALL creatures target player controls" meaning, regardless of whether the person has creatures, you can legally choose this mode for Cryptic Command.
I want to make something very clear. This is NOT the SGDoc that streams on Twitch. This is some bad impostor.
First, a replacement effect optionally removes the card from the game for a short time, keeping it safe from your opponent’s tricks. Then, a triggered ability lets you play the spell for its madness cost the next time you get a chance to play an instant. Finally, if you choose not to play the card after all, it’s put into your graveyard
What is the point of Exile? I thought the reason for Exile is that cards cannot come
back into play.
Well, the rules on Exile can be found in Rule 406:
406. Exile
406.1. The exile zone is essentially a holding area for objects. Some spells and abilities exile an object without any way to return that object to another zone. Other spells and abilities exile an object only temporarily.
406.2. To exile an object is to put it into the exile zone from whatever zone it’s currently in. An exiled card is a card that’s been put into the exile zone.
406.3. Exiled cards are, by default, kept face up and may be examined by any player at any time. Cards “exiled face down” can’t be examined by any player except when instructions allow it. However, once a player is allowed to look at a card exiled face down, that player may continue to look at that card as long as it remains exiled, even if the instruction allowing the player to do so no longer applies. A card exiled face down has no characteristics, but the spell or ability that exiled it may allow it to be played from exile. Unless that card is being cast face down (see rule 707.4), the card is turned face up just before the player announces that he or she is playing the card (see rule 601.2).
406.4. Face-down cards in exile should be kept in separate piles based on when they were exiled and how they were exiled. If a player is instructed to choose an exiled card, the player may choose a specific face-down card only if the player is allowed to look at that card. Otherwise, he or she may choose a pile of face-down exiled cards, and then a card is chosen at random from within that pile. If choosing such a card is part of casting a spell or activating an ability, the chosen card isn’t revealed until after that cost is fully paid. (See rule 601.2i.)
406.5. Exiled cards that might return to the battlefield or any other zone should be kept in separate piles to keep track of their respective ways of returning. Exiled cards that may have an impact on the game due to their own abilities (such as cards with haunt) or the abilities of the cards that exiled them should likewise be kept in separate piles.
406.6. An object may have one ability printed on it that causes one or more cards to be exiled, and another ability that refers either to “the exiled cards” or to cards “exiled with [this object].” These abilities are linked: the second refers only to cards that have been exiled due to the first. See rule 607, “Linked Abilities.”
406.7. If an object in the exile zone becomes exiled, it doesn’t change zones, but it becomes a new object that has just been exiled.
406.8. Previously, the exile zone was called the “removed-from-the-game zone.” Cards that were printed with text that “removes [an object] from the game” exiles that object. The same is true for cards printed with text that “sets [an object] aside.” Cards that were printed with that text have received errata in the Oracle card reference.
Actually, what you said is not true. They have to say this card or another ally. That is the only way you get the bonus from the card you are casting. Its triggered ability can't trigger on itself.
The name of this sphinx kinda reminds me of the counterspell Last Word. It wouldn't surprise me if the wording was done that way for a reason.
Perhaps I am wrong, and you can correct me if that is so. It seems like you are more nervous around people you don't know and more have difficulty meeting new people, whereas you have no trouble at all around people you know. If that is the case, then I can say that I had that issue as well. The funny thing about it is that I think Magic really got me out of that shell. Why? Simply put, most Magic players are really cool and will talk to you if you say hello. I would just consider going to your local game store for one of their normal events, say a standard or a sealed or draft. I would get there ahead of time and try to get acquainted with the people around. It really helped me out a lot. It may work for you as well. Good luck!
You can still report players for conduct or cheating. Cheating is not tolerated at any level, including FNM. Consider the following:
Serious Problems
Certain actions will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Every effort should be made to educate players
before and during events; however, ignorance is not an acceptable defence of these actions. Any player
engaging in the following must be removed from your event and, at the Organizer's discretion, removed from
the venue entirely:
Aggressive, violent or abusive behavior (physical or verbal).
Intentionally and knowingly breaking or letting an opponent break game or tournament rules, or
lying. (“Bluffing” about cards opponents can't normally see is permitted).
Determining match outcomes by incentives, coercion, or outside-the-game methods, or gambling on
any part of a tournament.
Theft (including things like replacing a card in a draft with one from a player’s binder).
Removing players in this way is called a Disqualification, and we must always try to educate our players on
why these actions are unacceptable. Also let the player know that while your decision is final, the Judge
Program would still like to hear his or her side of the story. You can contact your local Regional Coordinator,
high level Judge, or WPN Representative to guide you through the process of a Disqualification.
So, as you can see, disqualifications still occur. For the record, that document can be found at https://www.wizards.com/ContentResources/Wizards/WPN/Main/Documents/Magic_The_Gathering_Judging_at_Regular_REL_PDF1.pdf
Finally, an argument has two people. It cannot continue unless there are two people. There is rarely if ever only one person to blame for an argument. But let's not forget, you started this whole thing by providing an opinion, which you are perfectly welcome to do, that you knew might not be agreed on by people in the community. You basically invited debate. Sometimes debate leads to argument. Talking about other people starting arguments is hypocritical. This whole thing started with the ideas you presented in your opening post, not anywhere after that.
