No. While Heartless Summoning's effect may reduce the cost to cast Acidic Slime as a spell, it doesn't reduce the converted mana cost of the card at any point. Its converted mana cost is still 5 in all zones (since its printed mana cost is 3GG), and that is unaffected by anything that reduces the cost to cast the card as a spell.
Sun Titan's ability can't target the card.
Thanks much, just wanted to clarify before i spent the time to build the deck that it worked/didn't work.
Does ANYONE think she would be viable outside of mono black besides me?
I can see her being used in UB control with Consume Spirit as a win condition. I'm also going to try to use her in my grixis because that mana ramp is disgusting.
Over the past two weeks or so since i saw that my lovechild Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker was getting reprinted, i have been trying to develop a rather hefty Grixis control. I built one, and it works, but i've only gotten a chance to playtest it against a few decks due to certain restrictions i have involving travel. Here is the list
For me it has worked WONDERS. But this is in an environment that i have been playing the same few people for about a year, so I'm not playing it against the big decktypes like Delver or Wolf Run.
Any input/ideas or helping playtest this would be MUCH ppreciated.
Are you asking if you can make a grixis control deck right NOW? Like in this current block set? or are you asking about how grixis will be and what sort of deck you could run when M13 hits?
I'm asking if it's competetive NOW, because i want to be prepared to swap a few cards out here and there when M13 hits.
As anyone who is reading this post knows, Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker is getting the reprint he deserves. As of now, i am trying to come up with a suitable vessel to put him in when he is legal again. But i honestly can't get it to run correctly. I was wondering if anyone else had built a successful grixis control, and if they had any luck with it against powerhouse decks like Tempered steel and RG aggro.
Any help/input would be appriciated, decklists would be even better.
Personally I LOVE Griselbrand. But the same problem occurs every time i try to put him into a deck. There is a 5 drop that is more effective BECAUSE it's a 5 drop.
Any of you guys consider tezzeret's gambit for card draw? since it prolifs your PWs
One of my friends` tried to build a PW control and ran RUBG, he ran volt charges, Tezzeret's Gambits, and contagion clasps. It was pretty nasty when it worked, but the mana base was a huge issue with it.
There was one game where he threw a Chandra out like 5th turn and got her to 6 LC on turn 6 before he used a single PW ability. I had to deal with Garuuk Wildspeaker, Chandra the Firebrand, and Sorin Markov all at once, with no creatures........
I personally have felt how absolutely game changing miracle is.
I had one life left, I was playing tokens against esper spirits, i had 13 mana on druids repositoryand 6 land. Dropped a Midnight Haunting for 8 tokens paid 8 to draw 8 cards from Mentor of the Meek, then hardcasted a temporal mastery, giving me an extra turn, on the draw i miracled an entreat the Angelsfor 5 angels. That turned to 20 angels. Shortly thereafter my opponent scooped, because he knew he didn't have anything to stop the massacre.
It wasn't the extra turn that saved me, it was the miracled Entreat the Angels. Even if i had ONLY gotten 5, he only had 6 creatures, and the spirits i dropped before were just one turn of mitigating death.
I believe that miracle is deffinitely overpowered in certain situations. However, the mechanic isn't a "Miracle". Most of the time when i draw Entreat or Temporal, i just hold it, becuase the mana is better spent on something else that turn. In some scenarios, they are a lifesaver, in others, they are just dead in the water.
However, playing a deck based around them is, in my personal opinion, stupid.

This is irritating considering that i dropped 10$ on it...

Me and my friend played with the VVK decks for about a week solid before we tore them apart. They were almost totally evenly matched the ENTIRE time.
His mana cost is just grotesque.
