The Magus is actually a perfect fit for the set for Limited purposes.

Limited at the price they are asking is not a justification for printing BAD rares.

Everyone complains when Wizards bans a card.

Even if they legally could or can do that, there's still the spirit of the promise itself. They find any way to cirvumvent the R-List, they're breaking that promise in spirit by exploiting technicalities and coming off as insincere. The only way Wizards is ever going to abolish the List is if every living collector collectively grants them their blessing to do so.

So, if you want the List to go away, you need to write up a petition, track down a good majority of collectors, and somehow convince them to sign a petition that allows Wizards to reprint valuable cards they've been holding on to and trading for years.

And if by a miracle that actually happened, I'd be fine with the List going away. But then, I'm not a collector.

WOTC would not need the permission of every collector, let alone any of them for that matter. Finding loopholes or not, they have changed their minds on details of the reserved list multiple times throughout the years without anyone's consent , and all they need to do is come out with an announcement that they are taking it away or not, etc. It is as simple as that to reverse it, but the process in particular that would lead to that notion would not be for obvious reasons as you were alluding to. WOTC is well aware of the problems that the list has caused over the years and I am pretty sure if they could, they'd reverse time and take it all back, contrary to what collectors back then would have said of them.

Exactly. Wizards will get rid of the reserve list eventually. It comes down to the following statement:

Amount of money generator by reprint reserve list cards > the collector's money they would loss because collector's would not purchase new product

Wizards does not make any money of the secondary market directly.

If you all going hate them than I will LOVE the low prices Smile

I will also gladly take all your copies for a few bucks.

posted a message on New Emrakul: What are you feeling about it and why?
    Quote from Ryperior74 »
    My thoughts

This emrakul has been more underrated than any card on this forum

I will talk about the cons and counter spell those

#1 can be destoryed by sorrery speed spells: before you trash them when you control there turns? No you use their sorcerys on their own stuff stuff

#2 you can counter this emrakul: first of all 80% of the time that's only a fear if you facing a deck with blue. Second of all you get the mind control turn countered or not because it's a cast trigger. (Except if they got a "you have hexproof" enchantment on the field ofcoarse but those are rare to see on battles.)

#3 only protection from instants and not hexproof: correct but however excluding counter spells almost all of the instants that can get emrakul off the battlefield can't be used, and that's most of the best removals. And let's not forget other stuff you can bring out to add hexproof to Newrakul (especially if you reduced the cost to cast her)

#4 There's no way we will get the cost reduced to under 9: I'll do a standard one (a will do a GR deck
Artifact and creature at the same time. hedron crawler(-2)
Land. Evolving wilds or Sanctum of Ugin (-1)
Instant. Expedite or Kozilek's return or Warping wail(-1)
Enchantment. most likely Oath of Nissa (-1)
Creature. any weak begining creature (if no hedron crawler) (-1)
Artifact. Hedron Archive (if no hedron crawler) (-1)
Planeswalker. Nissa, Voice of Zendikar or Chandra, Flamecaller(ps the 0 locality will help) (-1)
Sorcery. Explosive vegetation or Ruin in their wake or Animist's awakening or Sylvan Scrying (-1)

Hmm looks pretty easy to reduce the cost immensely low to me.

And plus you can throw in these for other formats

    Eye of Ugin (-2)
    Urza's incubator (-2)
    conduit of ruin (-2)
    Cloud key (-1)

#5 they get the extra turn: I'm pretty sure most of the time their hands will be trash on that turn, and also the draw will most likely be a land because of odds, in other words it's not exactly an extra turn if you got rid of everything that can save them, plus you could combo in EDH with Stranglehold or Ugin's Nexus

#6 emrakul can be killed quickly: Kozilek, the great distortionhas the same problem but not complaining? And the counter thing is only for emergencies only. and it has to be the exact same cost as the spell.

#7 just flying and trample: I see you didn't read the flying part again and they need flyers and a army to kill emrakul, and not to mention trample makes the extra damage slice threw the blockers. And I'm pretty sure you sac his/her dudes or killed them by false attack on the mindcontroll turn.

So basicly is this Emrakul, the promised end is way better than some of you think.

The only thing people seem to be acting like, QQ not Annihilator 6. We know that annihilator won't be used. Using the opponents turn to swing into him is HUGE. You can totally screw up the board. Also he has TONS of flavor.

Unlike Ulamog I feel the only weakness is he is a little more situational.

In other words he is really STRONG.

Masters set should not be about limited. They should be about lowing card price to 30-50 at the high end.

I don't think it is. I know that your touting the philosophy that has existed as long as the deck type has, and I think it can work, if you are providing some very powerful control aspects(which I might add, modern thankfully lacks). But with that part of the game missing, with having a necessarily powered down control, combo at the very least needs to be nerfed hard and at least in my mind, maybe shouldn't be available at all.

People here always complain that Modern shouldn't be like Legacy, but you are doing the same in the other direction with your desire of completely removing combo form the format.

And what would that even do? Making the format aggro vs GBx midrange the format? I would rather switch to Standard than to play in a format like this.

Storm is not holding anything back it's tier 3 according to this site. And I don't think that 1 or 2 unbans would make it op.

And explain to me again how combo is holding control back? Combo decks are usually better matchups than aggro for control, so I don't see it. Unless you are talking about blue consistency cards on the banlist but they could make Delver a problem, it's not just combo and control that benefit from them.

If I were to do unbans I would probably start with something like: Ancestral Vision, Sword of the Meek, Bloodbraid Elf and Seething Song, it could make an Esper Control viable and most likely wouldn't break any of the current decks.

Do we think unbanning Dig Through Time would be bad. The 2 blue in it's casting cost lead me to believe it would not be as bad as Treasure Cruise.

Also was banning of Birthing Pod really that necessary? It seems like it was a year late and Pod was not used as much as it had been. It was still played, just less in my area. What about where you guys play was Pod not out of control?

They should really reprint Tarmogoyf at rare in Modern Masters. The fact that those boosterpacks are so expensive at MRSP means that if they print it at mythic, nothing will happen, if anything it will go up even more in price. If they put it at rare below all the Zendikar/Scars/Innistrad staples, only then there will be an effect.

No Tarmogoyf should be moved to uncommon. he is not broken in limited.

lol I wouldn't even play this in commander.

the *only* good thing about this card is if you have some dumb dragon lying around after casting it will gain double strike when it attacks. but then you might as well be playing against a snowman

I guess you don't know commander cause this dragon is AMAZING. Double strike with trample yes please. Using red / green god as commander you are in for a world of hurt.
