I have an .avi movie on my Windows XP computer. I would like to burn it to a DVD so I could watch it on a DVD player, but do not know how to.

Could anyone help me? It seems like it should be easy, but I can't figure it out for the life of me.

How is calling someone hideous in athread about whether it is normal for a girl to like "boy" things.

    Lets see;

"I like cars, people think thats weird. Is it ok for me to like cars?"

    "You are hideous"

He could have made the same point he did without insulting her.
    Confused

Are we reading the same post? Where does he call her hideous?
    Quote from ethersphere
Keeper referred to Sakura as "he," ghindo. This is clearly disrespectful seeing as how Sakura is a woman and Keeper more than likely knows this.
I didn't know it, so I can see how Keeper didn't. I just kinda go by the assumption that most/all posters on this site are male, since that's more often than not the case.

@keeper. You are a god awful troll. try again
I think that this was really unwarrented. It seems like Keeper's was trying to be helpful - I don't see how his post could be construed otherwise.

Oregon is an amazing state, from where I'm sitting. If you're interested in joining a band and makin' music, Oregon is an excellent place for that. The scenery is incredible, and pretty diverse; the climate is very temperate; the people are very friendly; the economy is growing; and - Portland especially - is just a very interesting place to live.

Can someone here please help me. I was kinda wonderin what kind of security programs was best in terms of antivirus, antispyware and stuff.

Currently Ive been using nod32 Antivirus, SpywareBlaster, Lavasoft's ad-aware personal, and SPybot S&D. Is this enough? or I should use another kind or should I remove something? Any suggestion?
Seems like overkill to me. I only use Spybot, and haven't had any problems in a few years. I would, however, wonder how typical my results are. I think it depends on other things - your internet browser, your firewall, etc.

    I have a question:

I have two hard drives in my desktop computer; one with XP and the other with Ubuntu. Ubuntu mounts the Windows drive and I can read what's on there, which is definitely handy. I can't figure out to do the opposite - access the Ubuntu hard drive through windows. Is there any way I can do this?

I did Euro and English Literature. Probably should've done more, but I didn't really know much better. Besides, the length of these tests made me want to strangle something.

I took Euro. yesterday. I am confident I did fine on the DBQ and the FRQs but I am less confident on the multiple choice. I am hoping for a four at this point.
Was your DBQ on chillun too?

Whenever I use my headphones on the speakers on my desktop, I hear a clicking noise which is not affected by messing with either the system volume nor the speaker volume. What is causing this, and what can I do to fix it?

This thread and this crew has continuously been extremely helpful, and I'd just like to thank y'all for that, especially ButteBlues.

My friend left me this comment today and I wasn't too sure how to answer:
Hmm...I've been interested in running Ubuntu for a while now...

You're smart...do you know any way to safely shrink an NTFS volume, without losing data, to create room for a Dual Boot configuration?

I really wanna delve into the work of Linux, but don't want to lost the familiarity of Vista.

Note: Tried using the shrik-a-ma-jigger in the Live CD, that that totally screwed over my computer...

ChocoCid hit it spot on. The Ubuntu website also gives a pretty detailed guide of how to burn the iso image onto a CD.

    A few questions about Ubuntu:

    1. How do I make the middle mouse button click work? I can use it to scroll up and down normally, but when I click it I don't get the four directional arrow that I'm used to.
    2. Do I have to mount my Windows drive every time I start up Ubuntu?
    3. How do I get uTorrent to work under Wine?
    4. Why are multiple desktops disabled when I turn on Compiz?

From my new installation of Ubuntu Linux 7.04: here.

This was the easiest installation of any operating system I've ever had experience with. Everything worked out of the box; it automatically detected my Windows partition, Adobe Flash installed in about thirty seconds (whereas before it took minutes, hours, days), Compiz worked almost immediately with minimal problems...

For those of you thinking about switching to Linux, now is the best time in years. It will only get better in the fall with the release of KDE 4.

Edit: one thing has been bugging me, though - does anyone know how to move the trash onto the desktop?
