Doesn't this just make snapcaster better?

Whenever I lose badly I take it out by going to the vendor and selling tons of cards and getting ripped off. Normally I justify it by getting some expensive cards that I needed for some deck.

I do 1 Wurmcoil Engine and 1 Grave Titan. That is usually enough for me.

I typically wait until they have one or two cards in hand after playing their last ritual before countering. This signifies to me that they either have another ritual coming up, a Past in Flames or some kind of storm spell.

After the counter (usually on a seething song) they only have two or three mana left counting their lands so it is hard for them to come back from that.

I don't like the dismember simply because if I wanted to stop twin I would run combust.

I am starting to like electrolyze more and more because it can po things like snapcaster, BoB, 2x1 on spirits and can kill stuff like BBE and a flipped or unflipped delver with great ease.

How do you guys feel about remand? I for one don't like it and deprive is in that spot because I want a hard counter in the main besides cryptic command.

What's the game plan against the variations of Tron? In game one I suppose we play fast and tempo them out and counter their important stuff, but in game two and three?

My SB is pretty typical, should surgicals and ancient grudges come in?

I just have a couple of questions regarding the PTQ schedule throughout the year.

What is the summer PTQ format for this year? Is it block constructed?

Also, how has the switch to store run PTQs doing for total number run? I could have sworn there was always two in Phoenix AZ, but this season (modern) there is only one and it is in a different shop than the typical ones.

  • posted a message on Looking for a really nice binder
I sleeve my cards in regular Ultra Pro sleeves before I put them in my Monster Binder.

Mine has gone through some beatings in the last year and a half I've had it. Off the top of my head I can list numerous spills, falls, hits and bends and it is still in great condition. Seriously, this thing can take a beating all while keeping your cards safe (especially if you sleeve them). I love my Monster Binder and I always recommend it for anyone looking for binders. It is a little expensive for a binder, but you will never regret it.

    1. Create a decent tier1/tier1.5 legacy deck and play in tournaments
    2. Get more into MTGO (at least play in constructed tournaments, not just drafts)
    3. Win a big tournament in Arizona or do well at a larger tournament (SCG Open, GP, PTQ, etc.)

    Woooooooooooowww.

Not to sound a little cliche here, but he seems a lot like JtMS.

    Card advantage? Check

    Protection? Check

    Game winning ultimate? Check

Interesting to say the least, but I doubt it is real.

I really like Forbidden Alchemy. My build runs 4 Snapcasters so the three in the bin never really hurts, it gets me my lands and it digs four deep at instant speed. Pretty good.

Can someone explain to me why Compulsive Research sees 0 play in Modern?

Namely because it is a sorcery. If it were an instant, it would be played in Teachings. It is simply too slow and tapping out on turn three is bad and using potentially half of your mana in the later turns can be deadly.

This card would really shine in a deck like Pyromancer Ascension where the mana ramp is high and discarding a land is not a bad play, but in a control deck like this it just does not work.

Said it perfectly. BoB really shines in decks like Jund, Junk or a tool-box creature deck where there are other creatures that will eat up the removal, even though a smart opponent will get rid of BoB as fast as possible.

If the meta turns into a bunch of control decks then BoB could really shine, but right now it is a lot of combo and creature decks where BoB will just be eaten alive.

Looks pretty solid, but I'd suggest running a Rest for the Weary over a Pulse of the Fields. It completely invalidates Storm Combo, whereas Pulse doesn't.

May I ask how Rest for the Weary "invalidates" storm combo? I don't mean to troll or anything, I'm just wondering how this is true.

I think they are going from East to West because Arizona, Vegas and So-Cal don't have any yet while the East coast looks bumpin'.
