No, it means that the money the collectors invested has now become worthless. Just like when the collectors freaked out and Wizards responded by creating the Reserve List. Magic cards are like stock, or currency. The only reason they have value is because the people who want them have faith in the supplier that there is a worth to them. As soon as counterfeits flood the market en masse, everything from Tundra, to JtMS, to Thassa is worth less than the booster pack it came from.
No, the cards being printed are from all eras, even Standard. It's also not hurting Wizards sales because this is the first time that there's been a giant wave of really good looking fakes. It takes time for the repercussions to be seen.
Might have wanted to go with stock or currency or even bitcoins instead of a cardboard childrens game then.
The thing is, most players wont buy the fakes or have them printed for competitive play. To much risk involved I believe will be the main issue here.
Otherwise, WOTC does not set secondary market prices. It should make no difference to them what someone pays for a standard good card- spikes werent buying from them anyway, but ebay. Packs will still be cracked, foils and mythics still traded and bought for (no one wants to be called at a tourney for a fake card and open THAT can of worms).
The only 'group' this largely effects is EDH- where proxies are used in many playgroups anyway.
The 'real' issues are legal and moral. I can't see this effecting WOTC in the least. (although I can see it having issues with tournaments and what not- but after a few people are called for it, the tournament community at large will probably shy away from it. Same with when cheaters are caught etc).
Aaaaand if Wizards goes out of business there are still people who make custom cards and custom cubes. Yep. Game definitely not dead.
The counterfeits are all cards no longer printed by Wizards.
Half of them are on the reserved list.

For collectors, who can verify their cards are real as they have had them for some time, in a way it makes those cards 'worth more' as they are '100% real WOTC'.
No, because people will continue to play and games of EDH wont change at all because of this. If anything, it allows some players to build more decks/cubes then they otherwise might have (ignoring the moral/ legal ramifications, and only seeing the end result here).

whats funny about this entire discussion is that with the quality of the new fakes, the chances that people will even be able to tell is almost 0%, it kind of throws the entire discussion out the window.
Especially at a EDH group/league with double sleeved decks. And were most people dont care as long as the game is played.
Ive been trying to get some friends into commander lately and so, so glad sol ring and command tower are included in each one.
The only issue I see is the abusability or certain generals, but time will tell.
and id love for you to tap out on turn four so I can land a domri or the satyr dude. also, by the time you drop verdict, you've already taken 4-8 damage, so im ok with that.
honestly, anger of the gods is much much more annoying that supreme.
late game ive used it to help activate monstrous, as a 2/1 beater, or even a blocker that will probably trade with something. Then again, the deck sort of wants to win before turn 6 or so.
Posted this in another thread, but huge fan of satyr hedonist. Turn one dork turn two hedonist turn three any voice or six drop and ruroc that that early is just gg and most xontreol doesn't answer it or the dragon very well with only azorius charm in hand
Obviously if they have three mama up, and of the three two are blue or black, I'll be a bit more careful. However, game 2 I have a entire set of mistcutter hyrda and savage summoning. Its not really an issue.
My typical game plan so far is drop a elvish mystic, turn two this dude or the new defender dork, turn three/four any five or six drop you need. Domri and the new gruul pw keep the engine going, and dropping Garruk, Caller of Beasts turn three or four is pretty nuts as well.
Id rather some guy in china benefit than secondary market hoarders (who, as someone pointed out, might be the reason for the influx anyway).
I mean, People sell fake Gucci and what not outside the very stores selling the real ones in NY, but Gucci is still going strong.
