I agree with the others, pile A is the winner here by far. Port has a high chance of seeing a reprint in MMA, which would make a serious dent in the price. On the other hand, cradle isn't going anywhere but up (unless legacy elves is no longer a deck) and the other stuff probably won't be seeing any reprints (library is a possibility, but a legends printing is pretty valuable for those who like old border)
A lot of people are expecting a reprint of Ancestral Vision in EMA, and I wouldn't be surprised if it happened. Personally I don't think visions is all that amazing, but Jaces aren't really good to hold onto either due to the upcoming rotation.
I would keep the SP and MP savannahs for sure. The sell prices for the two NM duals aren't awful, but I'd keep them unless you have 0 use for them and need the cash.
Well its price isnt because its good in standard. Its because its good, period. Its played in both legacy and modern, so as long as people are running burn or any deck that uses it, I doubt itll go down much if at all
First off, card tags are your friend. Second, I'm assuming that the fetches are Khans and the Mutavault is M14. I'd go with pile A here. Historically (MM13 and MM15), rares reprinted in the masters sets tank pretty hard in price. It wouldn't surprise me to see wasteland only worth $35 or $40 shortly after Eternal Masters hits.
Sorry about the tags, I was on my phone and didn't remember the tags, i'll add them now though.
You're right about those assumptions. I'm relatively sure EMA will drop wasteland's price too, but I feel a little bit safer holding the original printing (since they are almost always preferred). Would you say your 35/40 number is the Mid or Low? I traded today at around TCG Low to emulate cash prices (since imo Wasteland is way overpriced at TCG Mid) so we valued them at around 42 each. I did forget to account for shipping costs on my side though. Thanks for your input btw!
As of this posting, you come out ~$1.61 if we're looking at mid values (right down to the cents). With that said, I kinda like Pile A more. Not only is Pile B getting a reprint real soon, I just think having a batch of very playable and well-sought-after fetch lands is better than just 2 Wastelands (it does see a lot of play in Legacy though).
Of course, if you need the Wastelands for a deck, it's not a BAD deal, by any means. I just think Pile A has more room to grow, while Pile B has more room to fall. The impending reprint of cards in Pile B, and the recently rotated cards in Pile A is kinda what makes this deal not look good to me.
I did get the wastelands for my deck (only need 1 more now to finish it!) so it was a little out of desperation (since few people seems to have wastelands for trade in my area). I do agree now though, that Pile A was the definite value pick (fetches are going only one way, up, and the others probably won't be moving much). Thanks for your input!
I would definitely go with a green splash, it adds a lot to the deck in terms of both maindeck goodies and sideboard cards.
Against miracles I think abrupt decay is better than vindicate. You can blow up their counterbalances/tops. If you find yourself needing a faster answer or an uncounterable answer, I would go with decay over vindicate. I run both of them though I'm still tweaking my numbers depending on how my meta is shaping up.
DRS is nuts as well. It can singlehandedly win games if your opponent doesn't answer it. One of my favorite cards in the deck for sure. I would even run it without having green mana, though a minimal splash is easy to do and doesn't hurt the manabase much.
Also, I wouldn't run nighthawks anymore, and maybe drop one of the heroes too. I personally play with 1 hero and 1 gideon ally of zendikar as my 4 mana finishers. Mirran crusaders can be great depending on meta.
And as for painful truths, I heard good things about it (esp in nic fit), but haven't tested it in DGA yet. I'll definitely have to give it a shot now. I'll replace a bob with one but iono what to cut if a running 2 is correct.
What do you guys think wasteland and fow will end up at now that some time has passed since announcement? both have taken a sizable hit since the announcement, but look to be going back up a bit as people pick them up.
My baseless speculation is 25 for the new wastes, and 30 for the old, and 60 on both FOWs (it seems like a pretty even split on which art is version is preferred)
I think DGA is still totally viable. Its got game against most of the field, with a lot of solid matchups, and a lot of fair matchups that will be determined based off player skill and draws.
that being said, I don't think ayli or karlov are where this deck wants to be. both are too cute and don't really impact the board much if at all. my list runs deathrite, bob, sfm, sculler, and a singleton hero. all of them have pretty immediate impact, or have to be answered immediately. putting in karlov + soul sisters would dilute the deck and turn it into something else entirely, and ayli would mean you have a 2/3 deathtouch that needs you to keep mana up to use the effect (which isn't very relevant most of the time). I think this deck is already struggling to fit everything it wants as it is so I personally wouldn't run either. Of course, you're free to try and report back with your findings, but based off the card text alone I think there are better options.
as for the mentor plan, I think it is worth a test, but imo blue based decks have way too much advantage for triggering mentor. the list looks good, though i'd personally drop the 4th hymn for another thoughtseize or iok
Thanks for the feedback Weebo and augie. I was side A in both (trading for B). I only felt ok about the second trade, but I wanted to extend my land base, so I went for it.
