I play magic and I comment on this forum on various magic themes because that is what I do.
I still think wizards had a way in pushing people into competitive magic and never understood why it is a bad thing (for the sales perspective). But I am here to help and I think I made them change their mind a little. I hope I can do more for casual players like me.
I can say with almost complete certainty that nothing you're posting on this forum is affecting WotC's policies. Even if they're reading it on a regular basis (which I seriously doubt) they're getting more input and more direct input from social media, surveys, and focus groups. Probably orders of magnitude more. In addition, they actually engage on those platforms, something you don't see on MTGS. There's nothing wrong with talking Magic on a forum but no one here should think that their posts here are influencing WotC.
This 1000% percent. They have said that those are the things they look at and probably at most Reddit. This forum/site is, if anything, a small blip on their radar.
Agreed, and so funny how people were getting upset. Would have preferred him not to do the video because really, who cares? Some people just have issues speaking (and I have known people like that) and no amount of niggling by outside parties can help.
Maybe for some fantasy words yes. But for everyday English language words his mispronunciations are not intentional, he just doesn't know how to say them. And he very well may be covering for it by saying he does it on purpose. I'll know my answer if I get a response back.
Yes, he also does regular words wrong on purpose. I will go find an instance where even says "I know it is X, but I like saying Y to mess with you people" in non-live videos. It was in a Modern Against the Odds a couple months ago with blue.
Don't know the fellow and how he speaks but you should watch the EU coverage sometimes or play in an European GP, you'll get hammered by the finest vintage of Globish with various flavors who'll probably make that guy feel like some erudite orator.
I hear you. I can excuse non-native speakers at times though. Having a wide audience like Saffron Olive has means you have influence over multitudes that listen. Might as well set a correct example while you're at it. Again, just wanting the community to sound "professional" if you take my meaning. Even though its just a game. And a damned fun one at that.
He said he does it on purpose. Even last night, he said we will be pronouncing Kaladash wrong to rile up the viewers (Kal-E-dash like he pronounces Kal-E-tas for Kalitas). He also knows he gets complaints about it, but it is what he likes to do, he said, so I don't think you will be swaying him at all.
Seems like an overreaction based on what you said. But that said, a lot of well-meaning guys tend to act very differently when playing against women, which can easily be interpreted as being condescending. It's a tricky situation. Would the guy have said the things he said if he was playing against a man? I mean, if I'm being honest, if I'm playing for stakes and my opponent doesn't properly use a tap effect before combat, I'll gladly let them waste their spell.
I have actually been the same way, VERY laid back, during this specific type of event, which is Foiled Again side event at GPs. It is essentially a $20 sealed 4-round swiss where each match the winner gets 2 packs and a random foil while the loser gets 1 pack. Very low stakes. There has been multiple times during these events where I "helped out" my opponent or allowed stuff to slide, gender no a factor.
The only time I ever had any kind of issue at one of these events was when the TO decided there would ALSO be prizes based on record. Last round me and another guy were 3-0 and I wanted to split to go eat since it was 10PM and we would both get 9 packs at least. He wanted to play it out because he wanted 11 packs if he won (and 7 for the loser) and I did get salty. Literally all other 3-0 pairings split except us. I ended up winning and we went on our ways, but I dread to think what I would have been like if I had lost
I am a bit worried about the quality of mana-fixing for Enemy-Coloured decks. I hope these new Duels are strong enough to improve the imbalance in mana-fixing strength between the Allied/Enemy colours.
Hopefully nothing as bad as the Temples.
I liked the temples, though
Anyway, I like the idea of full art lands, but they should have done it in a non-Zendikar set.
Unhappy no enemy fetches, but they only said Battle for Zendikar ... not the 2nd set, though. So still hope in a way, but unsure they want both sets of fetches in Standard, even if it is a couple of months due to the new rotation.
Hold CTRL to avoid passing priority to your opponent. You might also need to have a stop set on whatever phase you're in if you're responding to something, but I'm not sure about that.
Yes, this should do the trick. I have already played decks where I had to counter my own instant in order to get certain things to happen and that is what I have had to do that. I am sure it is the same command.
I bought three packs and how crappy there they? Banefire was the best card. combining the three packs I barely broke value of a normal packs cost. I think what Wizards did here is you either buy a box at a time so that you get your value or you draft it if that is what you are into and even if it is as fun as the last drafting experience. buying a pack or two at a time is just far to high risk with the packs being at 10. I'd at least feel a lot better if they had kept the packs the same price from last time.
I got a box at a bit less than $200 and have cracked half of it ... Comet Storm, Elesh, Remand, Spellskite, Surgical Extraction are the highlights in those 12 packs :|
I am leaving the rest to draft so I get hopefully fun out of the rest of the box.
Finished the box and ... wow ... highlight of last 12 packs was Ulamog, Splinter Twin, and Fulminator Mage. Total "value" of the box based on TCG Mid is ~$130. Still kinda happy I got it for $170, but I would have not been had it been over $200.

Not really a trade for cards, but I stopped playing in high school in the late 90s and sold my card collection to the LGS before going to college. There were probably play sets of revised duals in there with other random stuff. Believe I ended up with about $300-$500 at the time. Fun story to tell now, because it did allow me a fun freshman year in college, so ...
I double-sleeved my "pimp" EDH Rafiq deck recently, mainly because it has Tundra, Savannah, Noble Heirarch, fetchs, foil Snapcaster, foil stoneforge, ect.
If I ever settle on a consistent Legacy deck or perhaps an expensive Modern deck (with Tarmo, Bobs, fetchs), I will probably double-sleeve those.
I played at a store for the past 2-2.5 years and regularly place in the top 3 in our small FNMs (8-16 people). There was an ownership turnover recently and now my friend is the owner. I then started "working" at the store and generally am considered "second-in-command". Since then, I only will jump into FNM, prereleases, other events if the number is odd ... and if I do win, I only take half the prizes for where I place and randomly give them out to people who didn't place that night. This is all my own personal preference, since the owner never told me to do this, but I feel this fosters a better relationship with our clientele.
Seriously, anyone know why UltraPro has stopped making M:tG playmats? There were a bunch for M11, one for SoM, none for MBS, and now probably none for NPH.

Kind of pulling a Pokemon TCG move there, which has "secret" rares that come after the set numbers (ie. 115/114)
