I like him in my Nath deck. It's cool to get a bunch of ETB creatures out then cast something like Decree of Pain. He's also real cool with Greater Good.
Thanks for the info. I guess my major problems I need to overcome are 1. I'm used to big mana MBC and this build is obviously a whole different animal and philosophy, 2. I've never played stax or seen it played in edh so I'm kind of in the dark on how it plays. I will be removing those cards, I also ordered The Abyss. As for imperial seal I don't own one and it's on the price level of P9, I also don't proxy unless I own the card so I'm not sure when I'll be getting one. Also this build will intended for mostly MP if that matters.
Would you mind giving me a brief summary of what a game playing blax should look like? What I should be doing first? Should the games go long enough to make any of the more expensive stuff relevant? Any tips? Also is stuff like Infernal Darkness in there to slow the game down until I can get stax effects going and cripple people?
Now is this for duels as well as a final multiplayer match like your old list? What expensive cards would you cut from my list to make room for more acceleration? If you don't have time to answer, no worries. Also a couple of the expensive spells like Sheoldred I got from this newer list you posted and I didn't run army of the damned because I thought it's just too much with the other expensive spells. Thanks again for the response.
Edit: Thank you for the offer of Cockatrice BTW but my only Internet access is through my iPhone.
Man, I haven't examined this list in centuries. Well, for starters, my development has a player over the last year or so has made me favor more accel, for one thing. I'd change the list....a lot. Here's a start. Off the top of my head. I'll look at the new sets tomorrow and get back to you in greater detail.
You're still running ramp / stax, it's just far more effective this way since you'll always have more mana. Really, with you only need one tutor and mana to be set for the game, after all.
Hello there. I'm looking to build a similar deck. Or there any cards that have come out you would include or test if you were still playing this? Thank you.
I already have a Nath deck in my sig and it's does really well with just discard and contamination. I wanted to make my Xiahou Dun deck into stax because I've found it's too similar to my other black deck
Are necrogen mists and oppression good eventhough they hit me too? What about Painful Quandary? If anyone is interested in seeing the deck I'm trying to convert and giving me feedback on cards to add and cards to cut, it's the Xiahou Dun list in my sig under WIPs. I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks Gaka. I feel like there's some stax artifacts I'm missing. Also would Sheoldred be any good if i'm having to sac lands and stuff? I'm consider Xiahou Dun, the One Eyed.
Your goal is to strip their hand and overwhelm them with recursion? How is stuff going to get in your graveyard if you've stripped their hand and any removal they had? My advice is to look at some other BG lists and get an idea of what they run. Boatloads of sub par creatures in your list.
I keep hearing good things about earth craft. I may just have to up my basic land count and try it. Thank you for the suggestions. I will keep them in mind when as the deck evolves.
Some gems from my own list, that I desperately need to update:
Wirewood Herald, great with Birthing Pod not too shabby, reusable sacrificial lamb otherwise. Gets you the Elves you want/need.
You know? I considered this card and I couldn't really think of what Elf I would want to grab with it. What do you usually grab? Is the tempo loss problematic?
I'm also considering Fierce Empath too. It's also an Elf so that's good too.
Mind Slash: Sacrifice Outlet, Targeted Discard, works beautifully with Nath, or the Grimoire if you choose to run it.
I've also considered this as well but I figured if really want to go that route why not just take them all out with Sad Hypnotist. I guess redundancy is good though.
Earthcraft: A levelled up Treespeaker on steroids. I play without the Squirrel Nest, though it's an option.
I goldfished with this and it seemed like i didn't always have enough basics early game to make this most valuable when I want mana the most. How many basics do you run to make it worthwhile?
Other good creatures for a pod chain are: Viridian Shaman (3), Solemn Simulacrum (4).
I'm not that big a fan of the land searching spells in here. I think you'd be better off with creatures, Yavimaya Elder is nice with pod, once again.
Ardeyn
I was considering Uktabi Orangutan AKA monkey love, but it's cool to see an Elf that does it. Solemn is in there.
I've found with all the draw I have Elder wasn't needed, ramp is needed due to a lot of the creatures being costly mana wise. I run Elder in my green deck but here I never wanted to pay 5 mana for lands, I'd rather play a third turn cultivate and a fourth turn Nath.

This is a card I've tried in the past and been disappointed with. Have you tried Phyrexian Reclamation? That's a card I've been thinking about using.

I agree and his ability to turn people's lands into dudes is some of the best wrath protection green has.
