I think that we will most likely see a return to Dominaria in Fall 2018 to mark the 25th anniversary of Alpha, but that's just how I would do it.

Yes, from a rules perspective, Morph could appear on spells as well as permanents, but to set DTK apart from KTK from a flavor standpoint (i.e. to show the "altered timeline") there is a benefit to giving the mechanic a new name.

I think we need to look at this from a different perspective. In the Khans timeline, Manifest became Morph. As I see it, it seems like some Tarkir creatures (again, in that timeline) said "what if we found a way to Manifest ourselves?" And that's where Morph came from, from a flavor perspective. So the question is what else Manifest could grow into. As in, what would Dragons-timeline creatures or mages or whatever ask as an evolution of Manifest. One possibility would be for spells (non-permanents) to be self-Manifestable. For example:

    Self-manifesting Bolt
~ deals 2 damage to target creature or player.
Manaform R (you may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for 3. Turn it face up at any time for its Manaform cost.)
When ~ is turned face up, deal 3 damage to target creature or player, then place ~ in your graveyard.

With a little bit of rules support, this may be feasible. Turning non-creatures face up is already foreseen in the Manifest rules. Could this be a possible evolution (along the flavor lines of solving the problem of spells that become Manifested)?

  • posted a message on MaRo: Huey has a "unique block structure"
I wonder if the third, Large set could be a realization of the supposed Mirrodin Pure/New Phyrexia conflict that was suggested when they pulled those shenanigans. A large set (~250 total) split into two different boosters, each aligned to some faction, with separate common and uncommon sheets, but shared rares and mythics to avoid the issue of chase cards appearing only in one of the two aligned packs. They could even tie in some prerelease/release day experience (along the line of the Hero's Journey from Theros) element to determine the final resolution of the block storyline, which would somehow factor into potential returns to Tarkir, future Core sets or other side releases. There'd be a big logistical component (constructed implications, result reporting, printing and marketing) to figure out, but ever since they teased New Phyrexia that way, I can't help but think the seed of an idea like this may have been germinating within R&D/Creative.

The blue card in the cycle is apparently Omniscience. There may be a blue mythic creature yet unrevealed, but it won't be part of this cycle.

Contact WoTC Customer Service. Send them your name/address at time of registration. I recently had my (6-digit—yes it was that old—the CS rep commented that he didn't even know if it would work without sticking 0s in front of it) DCI number looked up and reactivated after 10+ years of inactivity.

  • posted a message on Will we ever get another Un- set?
I've long held that the best way to release another Un-set would be as a duel deck or a pair of them (Pirates v. Ninjas, Cows v. Chickens), using old and new Silver Bordered Cards, allowing for a tighter humor and gameplay experience. A couple of 2-color and a couple of 3-color decks with a bunch of 1-ofs and 2-ofs wouldn't quite match the Unglued experience but if the gameplay of each deck had some consistent theme, it could work out well.

All tokens should be like this instead of putting dumb advertisements on the back, it would be easier to get a lot of each token if they were paired like that.

Or we could accept the fact that, were it not for those ads, we wouldn't have token inserts in the first place.

A few years ago, they realized "we can put ads in booster packs!", but then realized we, as a player base would never accept that. "Unless," they said, "we put tokens on the back!" and we've eaten it up like the greatest thing since sliced bread.

In other words, we don't currently get tokens with awful ads on the back, we get ads with awesome tokens on the back.

I think the quote suggests the opposite. He notes that Nagle wasn't on the Innistrad or Dark Ascension teams, though he was listed in the AVR announcement as a member of that team. He could have designed it in AVR design only for curses to be pulled from that design. I'd say a toss-up, leaning towards unlikely.

Phi is also used in math for "the empty set." In fact i'm pretty sure it's used more times as "The empty set" than "The golden ratio."

They're similar, but not identical symbols.

You mean to say that "clear creatures from the board and replace them with a creature" isn't similar to "clear everything from the board and replace it with a few things of your choice"?

Couldn't they just be referring to Karn's ultimate sweep-and-a-whole-lot-more ability? Karn is the kind of card that there must have been color discussions about, with the final decision being colorless of course, but a planeswalker is the sort of card we'd recognize when we see it, as the article suggests.
