Scroll up, all the issues have been discussed. But to reiterate, the mana is really not bad if you only splash one color (most likely black). We are not going for an even split here; the win cons are all U/W . Black is good for flashing back Alchemy and Souls, plus removal in the form of GffT or DB.
What kind of curve would we see in a normal game with this deck? Think we should do some evaluation of efficiency? I ask because depending on how you build the deck, "Captain D" might be a better turn 4 option.
If you are looking to strengthen Geist then yes, for sure drop him first and then your Captains so you can swing with him. It's really a matter of priority.
This is a very rough approximation of a curve that I could see this deck using (not all cards mentioned will be included or used) :
No, it's simply not viable right now, without the proper lands to back up this deck, It won't be good enough. Good thouhts though, but this deck just isnt going anywhere.
The mana base is no worse than that of any other three color decks. Yes it is difficult, but you have the following lands to work with:
Tempo (delver, illusions, blade lists) has been doing well this past meta. Mainly blue white, these decks have shown good curves, cheap but powerful creatures, and the ability to constantly bring threats onto the field while protecting them.
With the addition of Drogskol Captain and Lingering Souls, can an Esper tempo deck using these additions be a viable choice for tourneys?
We of course have Midnight Haunting to bring in spirits, and maybe even some Snapcaster Mage to give it flashback as well.
Perhaps Sorin, Lord of Innistrad will also be a good 1 or 2 of to buff everything we have on our board.
So what are your thoughts? Decent idea, trash, Tier 1 or Tier 2, lets discuss the possibility of Esper Spirits.
Magic's awesome artwork and excellent flavor were what got me into the game. But some cards just have art that really sticks out! With perhaps a brief explanation, what do you guys hold as your favorite card for artwork?
For me it's:
Mental Misstep
Really shows off the power of blue. A goblin attempts to cast a spell, and the same goblin gets his brains blown out with a counter! What's not to love? Never has such 'explosiveness' ever actually been captured in a control-based card. color, feel, and pertinence in one illustration.
I am not sure if this can really be classified as an issue, and I apologize beforehand if this is posted in the wrong place.
I believe that it would be beneficial for the communities if we had separate sticky threads for people to post what decks they ran at FNMs/ other events and their results with the decks. Perhaps a thread in each format?
I appreciate the mods considering the feature, and hope to see it become a part of our forums.
Hey guys, so I am fairly new to the archetype; I am deciding to build one because these seem to top 8 frequently. And U/W control can be transformed into a blade or delver deck if I feel the need.
So here is my attempt at a decent deck list; I would like as much critique as possible so I can spruce it up and take it to win. Money is not an object!
So I'm looking for a bit of advice on my mana base (and my overall build too).
Right now, I have 6 dorks and 22 lands (1 utility). 11 of those are turn 1 green sources.
I also recently added Hero of Bladehold and a fourth Blade Splicer. They replaced a mana dork and a Frost Titan. I'm not quite sure how safe it is to be playing 2 six drops, but I guess I'll find out.
It feels like deviated too much from how Bant pod should be run. Though your design may work, as it seems more control oriented, that frost titan is a great creature to fight other titans (he is, after all, the toughest). I would reconsider removing him from your deck, as you will find his absence against you in the long run.
game 3 lost to solar flare (not a single sideboard card came up)
game 4 stomped a knight deck.
Nice, man. I was just beginning to lose hope in Pod, because I used BUG as well and went 1-3 on my first time (high learning curve, I was told.) Would you mind sharing your build? I need to tweak mine and need ideas, thanks.
Hey guys, I thought it would cool if everyone could post their latest results from their FNM/ standard. Doesn't have to be too detailed; just what you were running, record, and what decks you beat/ lost to.
Running BUG pod (failed miserably; first time piloting).
Round 1: Beat some strange UW Shrine deck 2-1.
Round 2: Lost 1-2 to WWR; almost had him last game, but he topdecked something fierce and I got killed by my own play mistakes.
Round 3: Got face-stomped 0-2 by UB control. Game 1 conceded to Grave Titan, Game 2 lost to Karn.
Round 4: Lost 1-2 to RDW. Nothing interesting, just was unable to deal with Stormkirk Noble and as a result will be SBing counters.
Overall, 1-3. Very disappointing, starting to regret building a Pod deck. Perhaps I could do better with practice though; only deck I have, might as well play it.
However, I would have been running Esper Delver with 2 pikes and 1 SoFaF (maybe with birthday money I can buy a few SoWaP!).
My meta is based on Delver decks and Green decks, with a few GR aggro, 1 MGA, 1 zombie aggro, and a Tempered Steel.

Sorin, Lord of Innistrad
The swords are a maybe, along with the Sorin. Everything else is important.
Captain is our priority, we don't need to go crazy with Geists as we don't want to congest the 3-drop slot.
