So I am trying to build a competitve control deck around Niv Izzet, I think in have some the cards lined up but im trying to get some opinion on which direction to go with it.
The deck plays like a ramp deck, but plays 5 colors.
I have double green, white, red, and blue cost cards that I can play consistently. Oliva Voldaren and Disciple of Bolas are the only black cards in the deck. It's just a fun casual deck, but since the mana is so consistent I think a 5 color deck might be competitive.
I think Vessel of Endress Rest is abit costly at 3 mana it reminds me of why no one play Obelisk of Bant , but i like the sphere idea i might use that
So i was considering using abit of counter cards or just some DOJ, whip flare or slagstorm not sure exactly.
Because you might be able to cast Increasing Ambition for it's regular mana cost before your opponent kills you, and then fetch a card that will buy you some time to flash it back for two more cards. Diabolic Revelation requires 12 mana on the board for you to use. Both are lousy cards.

Im suprised at the wins ive gotten from this. Im playing Fog because some of the cards i dont have.
I know that the thought is that you have tons of ramp, but with only 20 lands, not only will you mulligan way too often, but by t3-4 you're going to basically pay 2manna just to get a land out for the turn. Drop the birds(which are just going to die anyway, and slow you down after t1) for more lands. Also dual lands are not optional. If they destroy even 1 of your lands, you can't Door.
The single Worldfire with 2 Thragtusks is something which is, statistically, highly unlikely to happen. And with no removal, at all you're going to want to play your Ob-rings on things other than your own creatures. Btw, even aggro decks run removal, you ARE going to need quite a bit.
If you can, add 2 more Primeval Titans as they're your best bet at hitting the 10 manna region.
Diabolic Revelation is just bad compared to Increasing Ambition.
And what are the stuffy Dolls for?

My land count is actually 23

Considering green based dual lands but afraid of them entering tapped
I tend to use revelation at 9-10 mana to get all win conditions to hand
Tell me what you think and possible alterations
The deck was built from thought, i started play testing it and ran into a few hiccups. I had planned on sideboarding the Oblivion Ring I was thinking it would reduce my Vampire Nocturnus hit%
Im not having a problem on the Mana curve seeing as I only require 1 white and majority of my cards are between 2-3 mana

Turn4 Koth > Geosurge >Urabrask swing for 10 Turn5 Game should be complete but thats a fantasy because buy turn3 most decks have already set themselves up. So im seeking some assistance cause im new to red the closest ive been is arid mesa in my pure white.
I mean if this guy cant come on the field fast enough then he is kinda useless.
Knowledge pool and Omen Machine seems like the best bet here. Lurking predator if its extended
I think its a very good card. I know I havent played as competitively as many of you have but the cards catches everything but lands. I can get rid of those horrible mana leaks or the lightning bolts and slagstorm that causes so much trouble.
Can anyone tell me the best way to get his beast out of the field? Im thinking of going UG. But If im going to ramp why not run other mana intense creatures and thats what im trying to stay away from. Can I flash this guy on turn 3?

Can you explain why Increasing Ambition is better that Diabolic Revelation which would cost me a total of 8 mana as oppose to 12 for 3 cards?

I understood the hardway what you are saying with Mutilate, how it got me out of some tight spots with these god forsaken weenie decks & elfs
Im starting to think I can abuse Bloodline Keeper with Mutilate and Unburial Rites
But my fear lies within the 0mana GY removal that M13 has caused.

Can he use spellskite to make my splinter twin mis?
Is it that he can respond to splinter twin before I play into the roil?

Its not bad but inconsistent because of I play 3 birds of Paradise and 4 Sea Gate Oracle..
I also play 3 shape a new. Its slow because Because u can hit cards of u wouldnt want from a shape a new and a polymorph.
But Im still working at it.
However I do like the blightsteel and Wurmcoil. Il try to get my hands on some especially the blightsteel.
What about speed it takes a few hits b4 really doing anything and also would any1 advise on mindslaver?
