Sep 22, 2017shinbatsu posted a message on Changes to MTGSalvation User AccountsWell this site mostly died for me shortly after curse took over. Trades/sales dried up and the navigation quality of the site made it where it wasn't worth it anymore. Now we are being forced into yet again another merger. I've been a member for almost 7 years, been through some really good times and made some awesome deck building threads. 488 sales/trades. But yeah, I'm not making a twitch account, I don't go on twitch and don't want one. So I guess that's it for me. Thanks for the memories, MTGS.Posted in: Articles

It basically gives me a way to defend efficiently against aggro and late game can be a wincon all on its own via blink/recur to make an army of 3/3 beaters. Glad you like it! My other favorite 1 of is the Monastery Siege. It's stone cold nuts when it lands.
I'm really glad you brought this up. This deck can be really budget friendly. Here is my $100 list that so far in testing is strong vs bw tokens, 8 rack and burn
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mdn100-azorius-titan-control/
This deck with enough work could be a stong build that can act as an affordable stepping stone into modern and get more fresh faces into the scene
I think this is the right way of doing things to make sure as many people can get a Fat Pack as possible, which means more happy customers even with a limited supply. I know this shop will get my business in the future along with w/e business I send his way via word of mouth.
He mentioned the distributor only let him get 12, and that he can't get anymore after that.
Lines up with what everyone else has been saying. Luckily, I found one at Target. Just need about 160ish full arts because I'll just trade with my friends to get matching pictures.
On a negative note, one store west of where I live is charging $50 per pack + tax. Guess where I'll never shop and never send anyone to?
Seems like there are two variants right now: One leans more into control and features more counterspells and the other into more aggro and runs about 7 more creatures.
I'll get that mill deck updated into the main list tomorrow! It looks amazing!
Brad Nelson made top 16 at modern worlds with 3 copies main deck.
I have reason to believe the price is way inflated past what people are buying it for. I have had my copy up for 2 weeks now priced below tcgplayer and have had zero interest.
MTG stocks shows it spiked to 15 low on August 24 and has been bouncing between 13 and 15 since.
[UB] Grand Tezzeret
*** BACKGROUND ***
This a deck I've been working on for a friend with a $250 budget. It has multiple avenues of attack, and great late game which made it a favorite of mine. I decided to adapt it for the $50 budget challenge in case anyone felt like trying out a deck that is fun to pilot and can play like an aggro deck or a control deck. Hitting budget was so hard I had to get by on Life Gates and Guildgates for the manabase, so if you are looking to upgrade I'd advise you start with some better dual lands.
KEY CARDS & INTERACTIONS:
1) Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas + Darksteel Citadel: Turn your excess lands into indestructible beaters late game
2) Invisible Stalker + Loxodon Warhammer: Elephant hammer on stalker makes it hard to race for the opponent as it's a 8 point life swing with every attack
SPECIFIC CARD DISCUSSION:
1) Perilous Myr: This is our best tool vs aggro in the absence of Spellskite due to budget. Will frequently 2 for 1 or take down a 3 toughness attacker.
2) Peace Strider: This deck needs to get to mid/late game to really shine, this is a meta call vs burn or aggro
3) Negate: Provides some cover for your wincons. You can also swap this for Mizzium Skin
4) Elixir of Immortality: Part of the Trinket Mage package, this allows you recover vs aggro and is a better than nothing Academy Ruins

***NOTE: I was over by .10, and I'm sure if I ran the optimizer a few more times I could end up with a cart a few pennies under so YMMV when buying this deck. I'll prob do it later to get the cost under $50***
@Warrenthehero: Got your deck up on the first page! Might I recommend you use the remaining budget to add more non basics? 2 more checks and maybe 2 shocks would really help smooth your manabase
@Seris_Ordin: Thank you for the post but you need to meet the formatting requirements if you would like a first page post, otherwise no problem!
@ Froggybeat: Sorry to be nitpicky, but your deck should be under $50 to meet the rules. Also, it looks like the manabase is pretty tough with no nonbasics

If a permanent you control would leave the battlefield, you may place it in your graveyard instead
Discard two cards: You may play target card in your graveyard as though it were in your hand
Sacrifice two permanents: Draw a card
1/4
NEXT: Glissa, the Traitor as a flip planeswalker. Starts as a legend, then flips into a planeswalker under a specific condition (magic origins). You cannot use the existing Glissa, the Traitor card for the front, you must make up a new card.
Even my $100 expanded budget version didn't prove a good fit for delver: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mdn100uw-hoot-blade/
(a huge retool of my old caw blade deck!)
*** BACKGROUND ***
Caw blade is a well known deck that during its run in standard caused multiple cards to be banned. This is my take on the deck for budget modern, but with more control elements and featuring a playset of my favorite card, Augury Owl. The deck primarily plays control, but can be tempo as well in the right situation. There is a little bit of everything but the ultimate goal is the same, drop a bird/owl, toss it a sword and go to town!
KEY CARDS & INTERACTIONS:
1) Restoration Angel: There is a very minor blink package for the Resto that is maindeck.
SPECIFIC CARD DISCUSSION:
1) Negate: Because Modern is such a fast format, we want 2 mana counterspells even if they are not hard counters
2) Jace, Architect of Thought: A lot of our key cards are singles for budget purposes, and this is FoF on a stick
3) Sword of War and Peace: This allows us to race, and gives the two best protections vs removal in the format (bolt / pte)
4) Elspeth, Knight Errant: What I consider to be the second best planeswalker in modern. Has to be answered or it can take over the game

I've been busy, so no time to brew here at home base, but I plan to get working on something new soon! I hope all of you can pick up the slack for me!
I've since updated the deck and yes zwei is right it's a budget thing.
But to be honest, two swords is enough from my standpoint, because even though there are no dedicated "tutors" the deck runs a lot of scry and card draw. Also, having too many swords tends to clog your hand, they are clunky and slow the tempo of the deck down so you really don't want to see more than 1 per game, and usually not in your opening hand.
If you want to improve the equipment consistency without spiking the budget, try Runechanter's Pike or Loxodon Warhammer to bring you up to 3 total equipment cards.
I'm glad you asked! I'm currently turning it into a $100 build and trying to make it more competitive. Here is the tappedout link, it's called Caw/Hoot Blade:
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mdn100uw-modern-cawhoot-blade/
Zwei, that has to be one of the craziest decks I've seen in a while. Amazing build... couldn't help but give it a foil stamp
*** BACKGROUND ***
Here is a pretty easy deck to pilot that is great for players that enjoy a lot of red zone action. I built this deck for a friend of mine, using the M14 Event Deck as a starting shell. It goes in hard like the name says with a complete frontal assault. The trick is to jam so much early damage on the opponent that you can finish them off with burn or a command. My favorite part of the deck is how good the nut draws can be, as people playing standard remember the power of Burning-Tree Emissary. While it won't win a GP, you will steal quite a bit of games from the unprepared and have a blast doing it.
KEY CARDS & INTERACTIONS:
1) Burning-Tree Emissary: This combo explains itself. In multiples it's deadly
SPECIFIC CARD DISCUSSION:
1) Hellrider: Pretty much the top of the deck's curve, as you will be using Ghor Clan for its bloodrush most of the time
2) Atarka's Command: This and the singleton Gruul Charm allow a bit of flexibility for the midgame
3) Skarrg Guildmage: Another singleton along with Pyrewild Shaman for utility, also does work against tokens if they don't have an anthem yet
