I am most pleased with this story. That said, it might have to do with how I enjoy a particular subset of fiction... and this definitely felt like reading about what happens after an Imperium colony wakes up a Necron Tomb World.

In the grim darkness of Amonkhet there is only Bolas.

Excellent story. It would be a farce to call a set Hour of Devastation without the brutalizing of everything the plane holds dear.

I'm a little shocked at how people are so against it. Not every story needs or should be about the gatewatch or extreme advancements of the plot. There need to be slower setting defining narratives to make us care about the worldbuilding they do and not just the big named characters.

If you have it then run it, but don't feel you need to get it. It's better in cutthroat combo decks than anything else, it does too much self-damage if the game runs long.

Silly cube game with Airithne: she casts Primeval Titan, I go next and cast Mass Mutiny go steal it, then sac it to Eldritch Evolution. On her next turn she Reanimates it then copies it with Progenitor Mimic. Man that card is dumb.
Primeval Titan is a completely fair and balanced card in this format.

    So is recurring nightmare.

But abolishing the reserved list would mean that MaRo would quit, and quite frankly, I believe they value him to much as an employee and the "face of M:TG" that we won't see it gone for a long time.
I don't understand this quote. Why would he quit? He has been very vocal about believing the Reserve List is a mistake and, looking back, he has stated he wishes they hadn't implemented it. Why would someone against the Reserve List quit if they got rid of it?

On topic: I hope they get rid of it too, but I don't believe that is what they are leaning towards

He has stated, on multiple occasions that although he believes it to be a mistake, if they abolish it he will hand in his resignation the next day. But he is no longer allowed to discuss the matter, and as such will refuse to answer further questions about it on his blog.
I have read his blog posts regularly and have never heard him say this. However, he has other channels of communication so I could have missed it. Do you have a source of him saying this?

I have read his blog nearly religiously for years now. Last time he mentioned it was over a year ago, and I ain't searching through over five thousand pages. >.<

Are you sure you didn't misremember the post? I don't think he's ever made that claim.

If you're incapable of citing your source then don't make controversial claims.

I'm hoping the new core sets are almost time spiral like. Not in complexity but in showing little bits of the past and future.

It's now clear, the metagame is now:
    Blue vs "Strip Mine".decks

I'm not going to let anyone forget how much absolutely unfounded complaining about Oloro there was.

I think it's better if people start playing the 1v1 list in paper rather than supporting the trash that is MTGO.

Rememeber, every penny that is given to MTGO justifies WotC stifling card design and catering rules around its terrible inadequacies.

First league results are up and they're all Oloro and Tasigur, just like everyone thought.

lol. As I expected, the concern seems to be wildly unfounded. I'm very pleased with this first showing.

Sheldon and Papa_Funk, in light of the recent outcry against Wizards for attempting to mess with multiplayer EDH, and the general sentiment that there should be more unity between the two entities, has there ever been a discussion to have your ban list announcement posted on the wizards announcement as well as on your forum? Something along the lines of:

    COMMANDER

    (Changes)

For details of this change from the Commander Rules Committee visit their office forums here.

I would imagine that it would not only solve a number of arguments about a freshly banned card that hasn't been updated on the WotC site, as well as giving you guys more acknowledgement.

Agreed this would go a long way toward visibility.

Yeah its something that I will have to take into consideration. . . I think there may be ways around it, such as sticking with things like Extraplanar Lens and tutoring for it with Tezzeret the Seeker and things of that sort. My playgroup is considering whether or not to adhere to the new banlist update but I will likely be making a list that conforms to the new rules and playtestig with that but this does impact the deck pretty significantly.

The "new" banlist ONLY applies to MTGO and is not supported by the RC nor is it even intended for paper play.

Honestly, as I don't consider MTGO actually playing EDH I'm not bothered by its hopefully inevitable death.

On the 1v1 side of things, the list looks ok for a first pass.

Yeah, well, lots of people do, so lots of people get screwed by this idiotic decision.

I question "lots" in the grand scheme of the format. But it is a shame that WotC is apparently incapable of having two separate banlists.
