Kudos to the "There Will Be Blood" reference. Probably face but I dunno, so many people have been wrong about stuff like this it's hard to go whole hog on claiming whether or not this is real.
Well they only have a library of 1000+ cards many with flavor text. How DARE they not come up with completely original, mind bending flavor text with every card!
Seriously people, consider the shear number of cards they have to write this stuff for. There's bound to be repetition. Yes I know that not every card has flavor text but many do, so that's still a hell of a lot.
That is right. Instead of promos (Remember MPR anyone? They were replace with what?) We get achievements that do nothing. Look at the achievements for M14. They were impossible to do and when you pass the codes to Planeswalker points you didn't earn much
Clearly you jumped on the "I hate gimmicks" bandwagon and didn't read. THERE WILL BE A REWARD AT THE END OF THIS.
Wait the simic one contains no simic cards? What the heck? o_0 Massive dissapointment. They even put a random Gruul card in there. What was wizard's thinking calling that a Simic deck?
Can't comment with any authority but he has hexproof, and is a 3/3 by default, and can easily get bigger given the milling nature of Dimir. I think he'll see play, but don't quote me on it.
I think this is reaching a bit far, but maybe I'm wrong. This seems like an awfully narrow and specialized card. All I can think to myself here is how often do you get to resolve a Sphinx's Revelation for any decent amount and die because didn't gain enough life from it? I kinda feel like thats not generally what happens. I feel like its more that you didn't draw enough answers and you didn't put enough life pressure on the opponent.
I agree with you on this. Lifegain tends to only be good when it's attatched as a bonus effect to already good cards. The issue with this card in particular, isn't that it's bad per se, but that it isn't particularly great either and has lifegain as the main focus. I won't say it's bad, but I'm not sure if it's optimal either.
Thanks. After 10 hypothetical match tests, accounting for various deck types (control, tempo, aggro, midrange etc) I assigned the status, -"Likely win" to all of them. I, of course, assumed worse case scenario (sweepers, key targets dying, they have a great field etc) and yet there was never a time where I didn't have an answer or couldn't swing things to my advantage. I can't wait to bring the refined version of this to FNM. Then I'll have some hard data to back my build up.
I think the new list is great. Just remember that even if you get stuck in a stalemate it's only a matter of time before the answer comes up. I have yet to play a game and decide it was unwinnable until I was actually at 0.
Glad to hear it and thank you. I like your list as well. I suppose at this point it's down to personal taste/playstyle that accounts for our decklist differences. Hopefully you and I will make this deck a big thing. I wish you luck in your FNMs and tournaments man! Let's show the competition that B/G Golgari has teeth eh?

While that's an understandable desire, the flavor of it fits much better with them being mono due to whole devotion idea. Veerryyy good flavor here.

I love you.
