Can someone please give me a neutral short-version of the story? I've never heard of Sprankle, don't follow the cosplay scene, and don't watch mtg content on YouTube.

What's the problem? Some complaints we're all familiar with? What's the basis of a lawsuit, the proposition that WOTC's business practices are illegal if it jeopardizes the value of the product on the secondary market? Get out of here.

The problem Wizards of the Coast potentially has is the alligation of knowingly selling consumers a faulty product. This is actually a very real threat because the sheer volume of bent and rapidly bending cards that came out of packs of Amonkhet and HOU. Assuming Rudy's source gets validated, that alone is probably enough to cause a very high impact lawsuit that could cost wizards everything.

As for whether that law suit happens, it really depends on how happy consumers are with the company as a whole and if they are willing to let them have a chance to fix their problems. I feel that they may have turned things around with Iconic Masters given the cards I've seen come out of the packs thus far. Regardless, I'm at the point with Wizards that if they got tanked I wouldn't really shed a tear. I feel other card game companies give their players a lot more for a lot less and the only reason this is the case is because people let wizards get away with it.

I would hardly call a low-quality (debatable point) product faulty. Perhaps to save money WOTC developed a lower-cost, lower-quality product. This changes the value proposition and might lead to lost revenues, but hardly the basis for a lawsuit.

What is Rudy trying to accomplish?

EDIT: Just to add forgotten quote

Player 2 has a 100% chance of winning this game if you don't wipe the board. He agrees to Banefire himself, kills Player 1, and then Banefires you.

Nope. Angel is a 5/5. Angel deals 5 first strike damage to the Dragon and kills the Dragon.

    * Announce the change 2 years in advance, allow the market to respond, people to divest
    or
    * Offer complete 'sets' periodically containing an amount of reserved cards. Allow unlimited sales during the production window.
    or
    * Masterpiece-like lottery
    or
    * Something like the old MPR program, force people to play a lot of sanctioned events to get their bonuses in the mail. Make judge promos better too.
    or
    * Make new dual lands that don't have basic land types or are painlands with the types, ban old duals in legacy. Vintage can stay vintage if Wizards wants to continue a true VIP format.

These days I'm mainly a casual player and collector, but I love everything about Magic and I like almost every product that they produce. I didn't buy any new product from the Conspiracy sets, but I bought a few singles staples like Berserk and Show and Tell on the secondary market because the prices were depressed. I bought the new Archenemy Scheme cards on the secondary market. I buy all of the Commander products at (online) retail. Wizards doesn't make money off of people like me on every product, but I get excited about most products none the less.

I like Un sets, I drafted Unhinged when it was new and I used to own a set of Unglued. I don't expect to spend much or anything on new Unstable products, but I might go to the release. Either way, the set improves my Magic experience and helps retain me as a customer for other products.

Judging by the leaked pictures, this set looks like it got some real creative attention, not just lip service. I'm psyched (but I might not buy much or any of it).
