ABUgames has generally been amazing on conditions for me. CFB was good before, but got worse lately.

I order from ABU a lot, and while I'm not at all impressed buy their typical "NM-M" stock, they're very good to work with and if you email them and specify that you want a truly mint copy of a high-end card like that, they'll make sure you get what you want. They have fairly high prices but also offer a 35% bonus on trades.

Persecute when titi left one counter anyone? I'm thinking of building a UB control deck in modern that forgo counter and focus on discarding like duress, inquisition and thoughtseize with titi and persecute as well as some vampire hexmage.. Any ideas for such build?

Thing only transforms if the last counter is removing from casting a spell. Hexmage doesn't work.

It's just a ton of risk. Either one of those banned wouldn't be worth even those prices. I sure wouldn't want to be offering anything higher if I was a buyer.

Even if both those cards are banned in Modern, they might have serious staying power in Legacy.

Apart from established Legacy players who want to play the deck, there will always be people wanting to break in and struggling with start up expenses. Eldrazis offer an affordable way to buy in with what will likely prove to be a competitive deck. I understand City Of Traitors will bottleneck entry, but the card has a very long way to climb before the three copies you need become anywhere near as scary as a typical Legacy mana base - especially for people who have the Modern deck built already.

The idea that a Temple should ever drop below $3 is highly doubious. Casual/EDH demand alone should support a higher price than this.

It's a fair point on Temple. The two cards probably need to be considered separately. I'd much rather buy Temple at $3 than Eye at $19 (if I was a vendor), but either way I understand not wanting to risk much on these right now. Despite the long-term possibilities, Modern bannings would trigger a large volume of sell-offs out the gate.

Someone at my LGS was telling me that Eldrazi Temple is only being bought for $3 and Eye of Ugin is only being bought for $19. This seems extremely low, especially for being 1 1/2 months from a ban still.

I assume the price of the Legends version of Recall is from some '93/'94 interest, since the white-bordered versions are still under a buck? I've had a MP-/HP+ one sitting in my junk binder forever, and a guy the other night said "You know that's like a $30-$40 card, right?"

    Weird

    That's correct, it's 93/94.

Is anyone actually paying more than $5 or so for them? Doesn't seem like it, based on eBay completed listings. (Looks like there's an auction ending soon that's around $15 for two.)

Legends Recall has shot up over the past several weeks due to the format.

Looks like Legends Blood Lusts were bought out.
That's gotta be 93-94, because that's likely the last time anyone really thought about that card...

Absolutely 93/94. That card was big game back then.

Yep, I bought a couple for the format about a month ago. Even then it felt like they were getting a little scarce.

Liliana of the Veil has passed the $100 mark a few days ago and is now over $110. I'm curious why considering Eldrazi Aggro is the new thing and Liliana is pretty bad against the deck.

Seems pretty good with Fiery Temper/madness. That could be a possibility.

Seems bad to me. Having to cast a planeswalker to cast a spell that already exists isn't that great IMHO.

Nope. You're taking a card that's already amazing (Lily) and turning her one "drawback" into value. New madness cards give additional potential and utility to a Zombardment type of shell that wants to abuse cards like Faithless Looting, Tormenting Voice, Lingering Souls, Bloodghast, Lotleth Troll, Gravecrawler, Lightning Axe, etc. Liliana of the Veil will likely be at the center of any such strategy.

WotC doesn't care enough to abolish the reserve list and reprint the cards and stop the counterfeits so why should we? All the bragging they did with trying to stop the Asian counterfeiters has done nothing. All WotC is worried about now is selling packs, not the game as a whole.

That's a ridiculous sentiment. The implication here is that they would not only have to abolish the RL, but also print any cards worthy of being counterfeited into oblivion, ruining consumer confidence in the game entirely and achieving the exact same end as allowing counterfeits to run rampant. The health of and player confidence in the game as a whole is critical to Wizards' ability to continue selling sealed product.

Who goes out of their way to look for MTG proxies and then reports them to WOTC? I don't even see proxies when i do searches for cards. I think you have to specifically search for "proxy". I don't do it, I won't go out of my way to do it, and I certainly won't do it just to report to WOTC. Not after the recent PR fumbles.

That's untrue; you're just not running searches on the cards being counterfeited. I see these auctions regularly without trying. I don't really understand how people enjoy Magic enough to be posting on a website like this yet care nothing whatsoever for its future livelihood. If proxies reign, cards devalue, and consumer confidence in the game dwindles. Product sales decline, and that eventually could lead to the game no longer being produced in paper. I get the animosity toward Wizards' recent missteps, but it has to be really hard to love the game while harboring disdain for the company that makes it.

Thanks. The whole deadguy/creatures+disruption+removal concept isn't very original (even in Old School), but I really enjoy it. I wanted something that let me play some of my favorite colors and also use a lot of format staples/singletons, so B/W fit the bill. I love owning the 4 seasons of Mishra's Factory (prior to this deck I only had the summer copy), and the original Icy art gives me chills everytime I see it (I'd always wanted one as a kid). Some of the stuff (like StP) is getting harder and harder to find in Unlimited - I got lucky and caught some eBay listings at the right time to get them for reasonable prices. Hoping to make more of the deck black border in the near future.

@karakas:very solid pickups,if you have time can we peek everything graded in your collection?

There's not much to look at, honestly. The few graded cards I've acquired have always been with the intention of busting the cases and using them. But in the spirit of 93/94, here's my deck as it stands today. It's mostly Unlimited at this point, and every card except for the City of Brass (MP) is at least NM by most standards. I'm just starting to look for Beta, and badly need Unlimited Scrublands since the two that I have are Revised. Not anywhere close to acquiring Moxen.
