Interesting question is if there's any sort of financial settlement (or fight the case and lose), how far back they will be going. Guessing anyone who ever was a judge? Or only current, active judges?
I understand these were promos for stores running 2hg for Oath of the Gatewatch. Many stores gave them away as well. I'm trying to track down an Oath of Chandra for my girlfriend for her birthday at the end of the month. can anyone give me some leads on where I can either buy or trade for one?
So...maybe this is going out on a limb, but I think this is maybe what Modern needs to help combat the Eldrazi menace? I mean since its white its usefulness is limited some, but any deck playing white can use this to clear the dreaded turn 1 eye, mimic, mimic (+a third mimic?)?
Honestly, that's about as useful as Pyroclasm (in a different color) and I don't think Pyroclasm is touted as the anti-Eldrazi tech of any sort. Sure it's loads better if you manage to drag the game as it can get rid of the larger Eldrazi as well, but not really against the particular scenario you stated and honestly that advantage it has is marginal since the Eldrazi focus on speed.
I get that, but if you're on the play, they turn 1 that, you pop that out and get rid of them for good. Also, pyroclasm has limited usefulness mid-game against Eldrazi when they start jamming 4/4s and 5/5s. This can fill a slot for path to grab potentially 2 or more creatures in a go for 1w of any toughness.

Yeah, I think I've settled on Combo Elves and Merfolk. Merfolk is almost a straight port, Combo Elves...is likely going to require more work but be cheaper to port in the long run. Also, both showcase different skills, so it will be good for teaching the other person a different deck style once they are comfortable with one.
If you were going to build two legacy decks, one of which would be for a new player that is learning fast, what ones would you recommend?
Difficulty: Tier 1-1.5
Bonus: portability to modern with maybe land changes and a few other cards
Now I asked this of one of my local groups and I'm getting varied answers. So let me add a little more information:
I'm a very experienced, former competitive player. Played Legacy and Standard, and dabbled in Modern for a bit when it was new. I have not seriously played constructed since before Burn spiked in price maybe 2 years ago? I've continued to play limited, so my skills are still quite sharp. My friend on the other hand is brand new to Magic. She's never played an event, though I am in the process of teaching her. We agreed that it made more sense to dive into Legacy financially. Locally though (as the shop to play Legacy at is hours away) modern is the only way to go. As such, IF there are competitive decks for both formats that require maybe some land changes and a few other changes, that would be great. However our focus is going to be on Legacy.
I was at an IQ yesterday with several issues with the judge staff and tournament procedure, is there somewhere I can contact wizards about the event and is that even something I should try to report? Or do I just shrug it off and not go back to that shop anymore?
Problems included:
-No time clock on display. Players had to call a judge to ask for time remaining.
-All of the judges WERENT EVEN ON THE SAME TIMER. I took a loss where I should have had an easy draw because the judge I called for time after we were 1-1 said we had only two minutes left (we are in the Azorius mirror) so I don't bother sideboarding or keeping a good hand I figure we are just playing it out as a formality, but then the head judge a few turns in says we still have 10 minutes and I end up losing. Had I known what the actual round time was I would have boarded and mulled that hand.
- A judge saw me Essence Scatter a god that was not at devotion and told me I couldn't do that. I insisted I could, so he called the head judge, who ALSO said that I couldn't. I asked if we could find rulings online because I was very confident it was legal, the entire judge staff took about ten minutes to finally conclude that I was right, but we were not given a time extension. This resulted in game three that I was close to sealing out going to time and I took a draw instead of a win.
If this were just an FNM I really wouldn't have cared but there's actual money on the line at this event and I think they really need to be held to a higher standard than this.
As far as your last thing goes, it doesn't matter if he had devotion or not Essence Scatter will nail a god no matter what. Only time a god is not a creature is when its on the field without devotion.
As far as reporting inconsistencies I'd first report to SCG since it was one of their IQs. As far as the judges themselves go report them to WotC directly here: http://wizards.custhelp.com/
Fight is green's removal mechanic. Its less efficient than black or red, but there are usually fewer restrictions on it or potential upside (lifelink, deathtouch, old lifelink, other triggered abilities).
I brought a factory sealed box home from a trip once. Had to explain to them what it was and show them that it was indeed factory sealed and that there was nothing to worry about. The foil of the packs made it look like a bunch of pouches of something metallic.
My dad was against it when I was a teenager because it was new and had a bad reputation due to that crazy Vampire the Masquerade players who killed people and drank their blood and whatnot. However when I got older and sat down with him and explained t him the game and showed him what it was like he had no objections. He's even excited about it because it often gives me a chance to go back home and see him for a week or so a year (as a judge).

Sealed should be exactly as you listed.

Ditto. I frequent a few shops and would bring them with me and educate the owners/employees on how to spot the fakes.
