well snap. i havent checked up on this thred in forever. i decided to search for some new pauper ideas and saw it on the 1st page. well thanks to all who have responded, the deck has changed some. i added Ninja of the Deep Hours and pulled Miscalculation. but other then that i havent really done much with it.
i still need to find a solid group for pauper (and i dont much care for MTGO).
while i dont want this to sound to "casual". have you given Bloodgift Demon any thought? Pyrexian Arena is a house. thats what this guys does while he beats face. and with a BB3 cost, you really cant beat it. Pluse its a Demon so you can cheat him in if need be.
so i built this deck a long long time a ago. when it was first posted. and i still haven't changed much. maybe a little budget, seeing as how i cant afford a Time Twister. and even with the barest minimum of the combo pieces it still pulls out a turn 4-6 win just about every time. seems to lose to board wiper decks though. damn mono black.
Maybe add Nevinyrral's Disk for extra removal and the combo-effect with Darksteel Forge?
thats the sort of thing i was trying to avoid. the combos that are considered "un-fun". granted, it is a very good combo. very hard to stop once it gets going
So i originally built this for a star match that me and 4 other friends were supposed to do. Needless to say, i was the only one who followed through with actually building a deck. For those who dont know the rules, you can find them here. I was had last pick of generals, no one wanted to play blue because they all thought it an "unfun" color. So I was stuck with Mr. Jin-Gitaxias. I soon came to love playing this deck. I tried to build it to work smoothly and not be overly aggressive. It also had to follow the "unfun" ban list. So I never included any "take extra turn" cards. But the number of counter spells has steadily continued to rise sense the first play run. So, here it is.
Mycosynth Lattice +:
Darksteel Forge = all your stuff is indestructible
Unwinding Clock = all your permanents untap during everyone's turn
Broodstar = really big Broodstar
Hurkyl's Recall = return one of your opponents boards to their hand. (this makes me lol)
Tezzeret the Seeker's -5 ability= a ton of 5/5's
Arcanis the Omnipotent + Minimo = a lot of card draw
a "kicked" Rite of Replication +:
Broostar + Mycosynth Lattice = 6 really big Broodstars
Phychosis Crawler + Jin-Gitaxias = WIN!
Phyrexian Ingester = removal
Duplicant = even more removal
well, there it is. i know there are more little combos, but these are the ones i use the most. hope you liked it. open to all criticism.
i am playing Mayael against sliver queen. and he scooped turn 4. it went like this:
turn 1: Forest, Mana Vault
turn 2: Mountain, Elvish Piper
turn 3: Plains, Tarastadon (blow up his 2 lands and his scroll rack)
turn 4: BLIGHTSTEEL COLLOSUS!!!!
and my second awesome play of that night was this:
i was playing Mayael again, against the same sliver guy, and some guy playing combo elves. it's a little later in the game. i drop Hamletback Goliath. the sliver guy goes infinit with Sliver Queen, Training Grounds, and Basal Sliver. so my Goliath ends up being a 2,400,000,000,006/2,400,000,000,006. then he passes because he doesnt have a way to give them haste. the elf guys does a whole lot of nothing. then, on my turn, i play a Scourge of Kher Ridges and wipe all his slivers and beat face. it was awesome!!!!
also if you wanted to go with more of a zombie theme, i would suggest Rooftop Storm.

not to mention the trample part
