Animar is a pet deck of mine as well. Cards you run that I've found to be sub-par include:

Sol Ring/Mana Crypt: Not worth the space in this deck

Shinka, the Bloodsoaked Keep: So low utility, much better to have a fetchable land

Okina, Temple to the Grandfathers: see above

Oracle of Mul Daya: too slow. Azusa has been excellent, but this one has never been worth the space

Body Double: Why? Seems win-more, and completely unnecessary.

Genesis: I cut this. Too slow, rarely useful. Animar is just way to fast to need this card.

Now, I'd love to hear how these two have been for you:

Green Sun's Zenith: I use Chord of Calling...I've never felt this was necessary. How's it been for you?

Mind's Desire: Interesting choice...but seems excessive. Has it played out well for you?

The main reason Mana Crypt + Sol Ring have remained in the deck are Mind's Desire + Tidespout Tyrant. I also agree on all the creatures you suggested, they are all slow and clunky, so is Solemn. I haven't formed an opinion on Green Sun's yet.

This is my first real shot at a commander deck. I have been interested in the format for awhile, but I haven't been able to find the right general. I finally found that in Animar. After browsing the forums I found gelf's 1v1 list for Animar and decided to tweak it for multiplayer.

The deck is very similar to gelf's list, but to make it more resilient. I'm not sure if this list is yet, but it's definitely a blast to play.

The cards that I have on the chopping block are:
Genesis - I haven't had too many situations where this card shined.
Capsize - It's only been a "win more" card.
Mimic Vat - Fun, but is often un-needed.
Sol Ring/Mana Crypt - They are often dead cards.
Fauna Shaman - I want more CIP triggers, Fauna Shaman doesn't do that.
Artisan of Kozilek - He's the worst "fatty" in the deck.

Yeah the draw 7's seem like auto-includes as well. I got the idea for the deck when I was playing Group Hug with some friends, one guy dropped a halls, and I had a crazy turn with draw 7's and making everyone drop their hands with a Tempting Wurm (when people had 20+ cards in their hands). So, right now, I'm going with all the good draw 7's (Wheel, Diminishing Returns, Windfall, Time Spiral, Twister, and Memory Jar), the best recursion spells (Regrowth, All Suns' Dawn, and Recollect), Tutors for Dream Halls, and some fun expensive spells.

Conflux is one of the other reasons I want to make the deck, for things you said. A turn like that sounds ridiculous and fun. That's what I'm looking for.

Conflux, Show and Tell, All Suns' Dawn, Yawgmoth's Will, Pact of Negation, and Force of Will all sound like auto includes.

Oh, btw, this deck's main focus will be group games.

Anyone else have any ideas on what kind of ridiculous expensive cards I can play?

I also lost to a BG meta-game'd deck... and only reason i lost here was i had 40 cards left and i had 21 diff cards to draw within 4/5 turns and i never drew a single one....

Squigles, this has no help for us. We are not talking about MBC here. Also not to many people play MBC because it isn't very good and it wouldnt be a problem for this deck then.

I really do not mean to come across insulting, but this seems to me like a cross-breed between MUC and MGA. I can see how it would win as it does use Trolls, but that does not mean it is great or anything. I seriously think you would be better off choosing one color or the other or go with u/g control.

Anyway, I will go ahead and try it out when I get MWS up and running just so I don't have to eat my words.

Well surprsing but this deck is very consitent and good. It is a really fun deck and it runs simply amazing. So by no means is it a bad deck or should just change to a MUC or MGB its a good deck and it only has one real bad match-up wich is Tooth.

I could agree with that, but you should'nt be playing this deck against heavy MUC anyways. But if your worried about MUC run something along the lines of Sylvan Syrcing and Boseiju or Molder Slug.

Also i do really like the idea of main-decked Perscutes in this deck like Dr.Tom uses.

Well i see one problem is you need something other then green for mana accel. I would sugest running Baubles over then Elders. Just because they are colorless and they help you with your mana problems.

Ghostly Prison could make a good addition to your deck as well, and you need to find some source of card draw maybe thrist for knowledge?

Yeah, thats magic-league for ya. Most of the people on their are just a bunch of JSS net deckers. Some of them don't and some of them are good players but you don't find them much.

But i think this could be a very good deck with the right playtesting and right modifacations, this deck could be golden. I will try to work on it tonigh at my local store but i don't think i will have enough time.

I don't think you need more death clouds or Kokusho, this deck actually can hurt its self by using a death cloud, and by that i wouldnt run 4. Also Kokusho is very high CC so i would only play 3, even if i had the mana i would only run 3 kokushos.

I think Dr.Toms list needs more removal and Shamans and then it will be great.

This deck top 8'd at a regionals, not magic-league. And Magic-League dosen't really count, almost all the players on there suck, only once in ahwile i play good players on there. Yeah, thats the same way i fell about BG. it needs to go more aggro to be competive again. Also running 4 Perscutes seems a little overbored, i know you want to draw i early but it isnt worth running 4 of them. I also think you need to run some Shamans. I would say, take out Rend Flesh for Terrors, and take out 2 Perscutes for 2 Shamans. also look into maybe only running 2/3 Solems for more creature removal and more shamans.

Also you can see how incredibly slow the deck would be. Thats prolly its main problem, it would roll over to Ponza, and defintally have trobles with MGB, even MUC for that matter as long as you don't run a lot of discard. And tooth wont be everyones "Big bad deck" because its losing a lot of popularity, cause people are finding out, that tooth isnt that great.

The deck is very intresting indeed, with Shackles playing a diffrent roll as it does in MUC, you take there creautres to Elimnate potential blockers and deal extra damage. You also don't lose that good MUC match-up that MGB has, and you have a good match-up against that. This deck has a lot of potential and im going to star playtesting it... anyone else intrested?

I go with Incinerated on this, how can you possibely veiw Zealot as a horrible card, it fits nicely with the deck curve, and it gives you a natrualize on a creature not bad eh? Also it is very important vs. WW and MUC, wich is another reason for running it.

Also Pin-Pin has no game vs. MGB, sure it can pull of wins here and there but 1 extraction is GG for them. Also Plow Under is amazing vs PinPin, it makes them have to search and waste there vital accel. And MGB can just take over after a Plow Under, by playing a 2nd one or Witness's wich is just icing on the cake.

Bonus(5/5) card looks great, have everything needed for the bonus.
Balance(8/10) its a little bit on the powerfull side, it would prolly be broken in type 2. I think it could cost a little more, or make a 1/1 or 0/2 or something, but its decent.
Flavor(9/10) You get all 10 here, the card is very kool and semi-original, it reminds me of Mirari's Wake a little. It has a great picture, and its got allright flavor next.
    22/25

    Spring Sequester
Bonus(3/5) You don't have a card =/ can't give them all to ya, but ill give ya 3 here.
Balance(9/10) Its a very balanced card, its not to broken, and its not to good. It would be pretty good in all formats, excluding limited. Its all around balanced.
Flavor(9/10) Orgional, wich is always a plus. Its very intresting in the way you give your opponent mana accel, but have potential of color screwing your opponent, and then taking their Acadamey or soemthing Grin And its got some good flavor text also, making you get a 9.

Also there offence is going to be unstopable next year, with a amazing reciving core and a decent defence. The vikings will be the top team in the central divison but lions will make the playoffs and hopefully the viks fall on their face like every other year.

And the Eagles had a awsome drafts, but hopefully there is no more contraversy between them and T.O. who wants "more money" like he needs it.

Also whats Matt Jones going to start as? anyone have any spectulations.

also why wasen't Jason White taken, did they forget about him? hes a pretty darn good QB and he didn't even get drafted. I was certaint he was going to be a late 4th early 5th rounder.

I have tried a lot of diffrent splashes (most in sidebored) for this deck. Worships are awsome and Extractions are still there, showing their importance. I was thinking of boils/Blood moons, but the MUC match-up is allready pretty good along with most others, except the tooth match-up, but i fell this deck is losing a lot of popularity.

Yea i was defintally thinking Mike Willams was going to Min, but i thinking they wanted someone to play deep, for the absance of Moss. So i do fell it was the right choice. Also i thought the viks has a good draft alltogether, there just going to be better next year even without moss.

    McPherson was such a steal, detroit so shoulda traded up for him >.< but="" w/e="" we="" got="" harrington,="" who="" should="" finally="" put="" up="" some="">

And i just think Detroit wanted the best person for the pick, and that was Mike Willams, if he woulda put up another 1,000+ yard 10+ TD season if he played last year he would have been the top prospect and top reciver, but thats ok.

And for the Rodgers thing, i don't fell they want to get rid of him, i have a felling there going to pull a Colts, and run 3 recivers for most of the year, or keep them all fresh and cycle them. It's just going to be crazy seeing Detroits offence puting up 30+ points a game.

Matt Jones is good, but i wasen't thinking top 15 for him even, I think early 20's was right, i was surprised that 2 other linebackers went befor Johnson, who was a projected top 10 pick.... Rodgers is in a great position, un like Alex smith he dosen't have to produce day 1, he can sit back and learn from Frave for a year or 2 then when hes ready he can claim the QB position... He will also have a O-line unlike smith, but smith can scramble.

It will be really intresting to see what happens this year, and who will do what... like it is every year. But there is a lot of good players in this drafts and a lot of surprises.

also where did Adrain Mcphearson go, and what round? i wanted detroit to pick him up.

This dosen't make em made by no means, because Mike Willams is a amazing reciver but 3 recivers in 3 years :/ Also Aaron Rodgers was a surprise that he went so late, but wasent surprising that the packers took him, but taking a reciver on their 2nd pick was a bad move.

Also don't worry about the Vikings they will just blow it like they do every year.

Well from my JSS exspreiences, everyone plays the top deck, wish is Tooth and nail and MUC. So i would run RG beats, like the one from the regionals it holds its own vs. Both decks. And it has good match-ups acrosed the bored.

There is a lot of mix emotions about the top, and i think we argued almost everything about why it's good and why it's bad. I think its just a prefrence, if you like it you play if not, play something in its place. This stops all the arguing. Me for one, i would play top in Tooth most of the time, i never had bad exspirence with it and fell it fits the deck but thats my feelings on it.

I don't really fell that Duplicant is the right choice, espically over Meloku. Meloku is a good defence card, and Offence card. And it helps this deck in so many match-ups, wich duplicant can not. Your also never promised anything good with Duplicant, most of the time your going to be removing Eternal Witness. Meloku can almost shut down any creature for 1 mana a turn, not to bad? I think removing Meloku is a terrible Idea, and by no means running Duplicant can allow you to say "im with the smart guys" becuase thats not ture, removing Meloku is a bad bad bad idea.

I agree with this article a 100%, it's about time to stop playing WW, i didn't think it was a good deck when ravenger was around and i fell it's worse now that its gone. It has no match-ups that are good except Red, wich isnt played that much right now, and even Ponza versions w/ pyroclasms/Flamebreaks can win games against them. They seem Like they want to push WW, but honestly it is not good enough yet.

I really don't think the Scepters are needed, I think all these decks are stabilized and its massive card disavantge, because almost everyone has a answer for it, espically the turn you play it. I just don't its worth it.

IDK, but the Plows are very important if your going to be sideing in Defence Grid, along with equipment. This isn't a very easy thing to side-board against. I have 2 Kodama's reach that come out, along with 2 Wood Elves, then the other 3 are toss ups, sometimes its only 6 card i bored in to. Depends what my sideboard is like, i change it all the time.

I don't really care for the Shamans, there just going to die in the long run, also Natralize is a instant. I agree that Plow unders should be main for the simple fact its one of the best cards in standard.

Also maybe playtesting the 4 kokushos and 2 Kodama's like he sugested is also the right way to go. All in All this deck needs a lot of work and playtesting, befor its considered a top deck again, and im willing to do that.

I think it will be a good card, espically becuase it costs :2mana::symu:, makes it very splashable and its as close to a hard couter your going to get, other then hinder. At least a decent hard couter, i'm sure MUC will play some of these.

Well i fell Terror is the right choice, there isn't any black creatures or artifact creatures to worry about other then Kokusho right now, wich isn't even played that much right now. Terror is one mana cheaper also, against tooth and nail, your not going to want to kill there Titans anyways, you would rather chump block them, and if they did become a problem you should have Natralize main anyways.

I would check the Londes article today for a newer BG build, i really felt this article was right on where BG should go as in main deck.

I don't fell its good enough to be banned, espically because legendary. I believe that it is just a really good card and no need to banned. Also Block is only a few months anyways, at least rather competive, and type 2 is going to cut into its season a little this year also.

Well remvoing Plows for grids is kindda counter active, the Grids make Plow Unders much better, and the reason Plow Under isn't the greatest card vs mono-blue is because of their counters, i early resolved Plow can be devastating with a grid in play. Thats 2 more turns they have to recover from the +3 mana they need for all there spells, to be honest i haven't played this much. but maybe removing becaons. I see a lot of spectral shifts coming in from the bored just for beacons.

posted a message on Anti Blue or is it
Yes, this deck isn't competive at all, the writers at brainburst are really slacking, nothing good has come out of them in along time. that anti-blue deck, is a pile that he decided to make. It just dosen't cut it, it loses to every other deck, and MUC is not as popular as affinty was and won't have that much hate either. MUC isn't good enough to be hated out, this deck will roll over to anything non blue.

While I like instant speed destruction as well, the fact that Splinter works against Shackles, equipment and Tooth and Nail makes it seem worthwhile. If Blue can counter your Splinter, they could probally already counter your Naturalize anyways.

    Here is my list:

Yea i think the Natralise vs. Splinter has been covered, Natralize has the advantage in almost everything. (but hey fell free to test it)

Your list should really be running 1 more Troll Ascetic, hes the best creature in the deck, and he single handly wins some of your match-ups, not to mention hes amazing with the Jitte...

Also i Believe you should run 4 Plow Unders main, its just to good to pass up, quite possibly the best card in the deck. Plow Unders can win games from its mayjor tempo swing.

other then that the list looks good.

Splinter cost 4 and its a sorcery, against a deck like MUC i would rather have Natrualize. They don't have more then 1 shackles early game to offten anyways. So Natrualzize will most likely get rid of the Shackles. And MUC will just counter a Splinter espically as it is a 4 mana sorcery, these wont resolve.

No but, it also has versitilty wich the Armor lacks, the Armor, can't just go to a new creature and start swinging away. The sword provides so much more then what the blanchwood armor does. And then again the Armor dosen't do anything to help you with your drawing or removing opposing creatures, the creature just swings every-turn and dosen't get chumped much, its also clumps up your non-creature spells and just provides what i feel to be a kill more card.

Blanchwood Armor is good don't get me wrong, but there really is nothing to take out of the deck other then the Jittes/Kodama's reach. the Jittes provide so much more then a creature your opponent has to chump block, with Jitte they don't want to block. And Kodama's reach helps out with getting earlier Plow Unders, Thins out the deck and powers up Becaons.

And thats why i wouldn't run Blanchwood Armor it clumps up your non-creature spells, and its not game altering all it does is makesyour creature a must chump block creature, wich isn't very hard to do with all the Elders, Bops, Witness's and all the other Support creatures running around.

I feel the biggest Reason not to run Blanchwood Armor is because it dosen't have the abilty to change its target, this is why equipment is so powerfull, and Blanchwood just dosen't cut it, and a lot of the time its a kill more card.

Also Sword of fire and ice and Umezawa's Jitte are so verstile, they provide more then just pump effects, exp: sword has can draw you cards and kill opposing creatures, the Jitte can Kill creatures, and gain needed life... and thats just besides there abilty to pump a creature to extream Numbers.

Twinkee dosen't have a card, so WarOne wins by Default? if there is something wrong someone please inform me.

    Winner = WarOne

    (12) 46. Blinking Spirit - 49. BenGreen

    Blinking Spirit/Wradram, Savior of Thurus:

Bonus(5/5) everything is in place, good picture.
Balance(8.5/10) the card is balanced, it wont break any format but i could make it into a few
    decks.
Flavor/Creativity/Quality(6.5/10) The card is orgional so that adds to its cool facter, the Wording is a little confusing. its got a good flavor, flows would be the wording could keep it a little more basic
    (20/25)
    bengreen/Nestless Queen
Bonus(4/5) the card is fine but the picture is distorted.
Balance(7/10)Very strange card, it seems like a Platnum angel abilty built in, its not the greatest card in the world.
Flavor/Creativity/Quality(5/10) Props on trying to create your own abilty but its a little confusing, it would need some work on the wording. All and all the quality isn't their the wording isnt that good, the picture isn't visable so it dosen't get much in being kool, other then origonalty.
    (16/25)

    Winner = Blinking Spirit

Well i was thinking going, Meloku main... and not running Extractions and use Blood moons and Boils in my bored, because both of thouse spells are devasting for your opponent. And to make it more of a surprise run the mountain in the bored, and Soggy i believe this could work for you, running one of your lands in your bored.
