    Gain control of target creature.
    Cipher

Sneaky way to make 8 mana worthwhile in limited. Cipher cards that remove blockers are good.

Considering that there's actually a lot of monored planeswalkers, and the strongest is Koth of the Hammer, it can't be hard to screw this up.

It's more fun to just constantly tick up a Smokestack

I think it's pretty easily Morgue Burst here. I think the only other consideration is Fluxcharger, and that's a solid card, but I'm a value man.
Skylasher has to be mediocre at best in limited, but I guess if you end up against Fluxcharger it works as a hatedraft? Boros Mastiff is the strongest Bear in the pack. Uncovered clues opens up a path to go super deep that entices me.

Doesn't have synergies with anything to the point where it's worth running in an actual valakut deck.

But I see potential in this card. It's one of those cards that if you beat someone with it, it'll make them quit playing magic. That's pretty powerful. Think of all the card advantage that you get from unplayed games

Trait Doctoring enables Valakut in monoblue, it's the most broken card ever.
Emmara Tandris is a little bit of a Legends legend. Is she worse than Sir Shandlar of Eberyn? No, but she's not far better.

I'd skip on the rares and go for Turn//Burn. It's close though, I'd probably be happy to take Varolz.

i feel like this is sarcasm, but im pumped. i have drafted that card literally hundreds of times.

It's about 40% sarcasm on behalf of the rest of the people here. I kind of collect Wind Drakes, I'm particularly fond of the Tempest art. The new art is pretty palatable as well.

Wizards: Jace isn't exactly invested in your battle.

Unless Doubling Season is out, in which case, most planeswalkers get inexplicably excited for some undiscernable reason.

I haven't read any of the books pertaining to Magic yet, but I heard the best ones are the early ones. Still, it's always a bit sad to see someone lose a job.

Also... WHERE THE HELL ARE THE MERFOLK!?

We'll probably get our fair share of sirens in the next block, right? Then again, that's a seperate creature type for some reason

They still could have gave us a lot more old stuff Angel of Despair, Burning-Tree Shaman, Coiling Oracle, Simic Sky Swallower, Vulturous Zombie, Gleancrawler, Avatar of Discord and Crypt Champion just to name a few.

None have old guild keywords on them and could have reprinted in one of the sets and most of those are just the rares thats not even counting more of the commons that I can't recall off the top of me head.

...Crystal seer, Disembowel, Goblin Fire-fiend, Gruul Scrapper, Screeching griffin...
Oh yeah, I remember now. It sucked!
If they reprint all the good stuff, it only leaves room for the bad stuff.

Well that's the thing. You're evaluating them on what they do when they're running on full power. Do you have multiple cheap common creatures with multiple keywords? Thunder-braid Mimic might be good if you have a creature with Double Strike and a creature with Haste in play, but he's going to be pretty poor if you have nothing else or just a creature with haste. The rarity of Double Strikers to actually make him par the course in the average set makes him nigh unplayable. Will your set make it probable to have 3 other double strikers in your draft deck?
I'm also not convinced Diamond-Breath rewards you for going out of your way either. Do you have single creatures that cover both bases on each of these guys?
This just seems like a really parasitic form of Soulbond that doesn't have enough payoff to me. Will they only be active once in a blue moon? Also compare to the Cohort cycle from Shadowmoor. They were parasitic, but in a way that was achievable about most of the time.

I think these creatures are costed a lot high, especially the red and blue ones. A way to make these much more playable in limited would be to make them all mimic what the opponent has, and cost them as normal limited bodies.
As is, I wouldn't be satisfied with playing any of these in most sets I've drafted. They give your opponent's removal spell twice the value when used during combat. It's hard to justify a 2/5 flyer for 5 with a drawback, or a 5/3 trample for 6. Maybe another way of doing it would be to make them vanilla and stay vanilla, but just get hard p/t bonuses when they see the ability that they like?

It's not a Pernicious Deed, it's a Forced March with 'upside.' Have you ever played with Forced March?
Deed does this thing where you can put mana on layaway, activate it at instant speed, make your opponent do dumb things. The threat to crack it has a lot of power in itself. If you want a Deed in Modern, Oblivion Stone is your card.
