The first time I entered an art contest here at MTGSalvation, I wanted to have my entry colored so bad but couldn't find someone to color it. Moons later a forum friend of mine here, Galspanic, offered to color in some work for me. I presented him with several pices and he did a wonderful job on each.

Recently he turned out a fantastic job on the Ice Staff - my original and first contest entry.



I simply love it.

Anywho, I recently came across a dragon I created. It's somewhat old and after taking a good look at it, I find some similarities to Oros, the Avenger. It's nowhere near as impressive as Daren Bader's work, but you can kind of see some similarities. Here's a look.

That about says it all.

Why do people post whether they or have not received their MPR mailouts and what they did or did not receive? Not to come across as rude, but does anyone really care?

If I made a post to announce I made a few trades today, would anyone care? What if I made it known that on this day in December, I organized some of my cards?

Maybe my patience is slim these days and the festivity of the season hasn't had the chance to burrow within me. I'm probably just being grumpy and old.

My hats off to rancored elf, urzassedatives, Hydrokinesis, and charlequin. For the most part, I hang around the Creativity section here at Salvation. Not to be totally immersed by it, I also make my way into other sections of the forums, because in general, I like this place a lot. However, there is one location that introduced me to MTGSalvation and one that seems to annoy me the most - The Rumor Mill.

It's not that I don't appreciate the Rumor Mill. I enjoy it and I know it's brought many a good spoiler to us and will probably continue to do so from here on out. It's not that I think that the moderators do a poor job there. They do a great job and deal with a crazy amount of reported post messages I'm sure. It's not that some people post false or misleading information either. It's none of these actually.

No, what really "grinds my gears" is a current thread titled, "Could the next foil player rewards textless card be Damnation?" The thread is based on the discovery of artwork created by Ron Spencer that is similar to the work Mr. Spencer created for the textless Warth of God that was given away as this previous seasons Magic Player Rewards card. The thread discusses the possibility that this discovered artwork could be that of a textless Damnation to be given away in the latest MPR mailouts. The thread has grown in popularity with 284 replies (current as I type this) and a staggering 39,280 views (again, current as I type this). This makes it the most popular thread on the first page of the Rumor Mill - hands down!

Maybe I'm being grumpy. Maybe my current streak of horrified luck has me being the proverbial sour-puss, but every single time I look in that thread, I am amazed at how people can continually ask the same questions over and over and over and over and over and over again.

I'm up for moderator of the year! Me! Richie Proffitt! I don't know how or why or that enough people voted, but wow! This is probably going to be the shortest blog post ever, but I was thrilled when I was informed of this.

So I was watching Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, this morning when the climax of the movie began to take place. While watching, I came up with an idea for a new signature. I've had my current signature for quite a long time and thought it best to maybe change things up now. So anywho, here's my request....

Bush. The background could be a cosmic swirl of space and stars. At the bottom in glowing green text, I would like the quote above listed.

Is this possible? I was unsure which shop to post in, as I wasn't sure how backed up any single shop was and I didn't want to add to the flood if things were indeed busy. Thanks again and I'll stay posted here for any takers.

I placed the request for this new signature over in the request section and I'm hoping I'll find a taker, although I know it's a pretty difficult task to say the least. I thought I would share in my blog my idea. That's all for now.

So as most everyone knows, the nomination process is up for the 2007 Annual MTGSalvation Forum Awards. This is a process that is really something that sets Sally apart from many other forums that discuss and focus on Magic. Although my profile shows me being here since February of 2005, I was mostly a lurker then and enjoyed the rumors and the art and such. I started posting and I was hooked. Sally has become my favorite place on the internet and I love the community here, the people, and everything about this place.

Recently though, some things have happened that took me back and made me love this place even more. I have been mentioned as a possible nominee for some of the awards here on Salvation. Maybe that doesn't seem like much to some people, but to me it is. For someone to take the time out and actually nominate me is amazing. I'm a meager moderator in the artwork forums and dwell mostly there.

I don't know, maybe I'm making more of this than what it is, but it makes me feel really good in spite of all of the horrible things that have happened to me this year and most recently. To everyone who nominated me - thank you. For those that have been nominated - best of luck to you all.

Sigh. It seems as though there comes a time when God - or whatever higher power you believe in - tests you with all of the things life deals you. For me, it's been a major upscale battle these past few months. If something bad could happen to someone, then it's happened to me. Now I'm in a situation where it looks as though I'll have to part with my Extended cards from my collection so I can have a vehicle. Our mini-van's motor "blew up" Friday afternoon and we still owe the car lot for it. My only income is from disability and what I make from playing Magic, which isn't that much, since I started playing more casually and less competitively. This makes affording a new card difficult, but sometimes sacrifices must be made. It's just that I have a lot of love and time and fun and joy and pride put into my cards and I know once I sell them, I won't get nearly what their worth. Just to give you an idea of what my extended cards consist of - this is roughly less than one third of them - check this.

So this is my first blog here at MTGSalvation. I'm not sure what all I want to blog about just yet. My blogs tend to be more like journals or diaries that I share with others. In this instance, I'm going to post some artwork, because art is my life and I LOVE it. Enjoy and feel free to critique or comment.
