Got one of these from my dad for Christmas. Mystery pack was RtR. Best pulls out of the pack was the UR Dual from Kaladesh and a foil Wastes in the OTG pack.
Once we got the Wastes basic lands it's been in my head that we would have a return to the snow mechanic. At some point, the idea of printing snow-covered wastes is going to be in the heads of the players as well as R&D. It also fits in if we ever go back to Zendikar for it to be undergoing an Ice Age. After all the events of the Brothers' War were the cause of the Ice Age and so it isn't that big of a leap for Eldrazi ravaging the world could be enough to cause the same effect. As from the mechanic point of view, the only way we will get snow-covered wastes is if the next snow set is on Zendikar. Sure not all people would want snow-covered wastes, but people would want full art snow-covered basic lands. You know how pimp those would be? Sure, some of you might be all, "But the Eldrazi are gone why would they need to give us Wastes again?" Well, once the Eldrazi were gone those wastes are still there devoid of colored mana and over time mages would learn to tap into that and wield colorless magic.
You know, I'm kind of hoping that they are going to open the flood gates with a new summer set that includes key non-reserve list reprints and letting them be modern legal. Remember for a long time we had the Portal Sets banned in Type I. By allowing the expos, commander sets, dual decks, planechase, archenemy, conspiracy, and whatever this set is going to be call in Modern we could see the meta totally open up. I mean Wasteland and Daze would allow the format to have a true control deck. They could every take a bunch of the banned cards off if we could have a FoW reprint. Sure this would kill legacy, but come on the format has lost a lot of steam as SCG has shifted to focusing only on Standard and Modern. I would we see it become legacy with bad duals? Or would it basically be a wild open format where people can simply upgrade their favorite deck and run it. After all wasn't that what Modern was meant to be?
My dreams are
5 Enemy Tango Lands
5 Enemy Man-lands
5 Allied Man-lands
5 Colorless Lands (Urza Tron, Inkmoth, and Wasteland)
I think the first 15 are for sure, and the last 5 are pipe dreams, but come on, dream big or go home. Trust me you tell players there is a chance of a foil full art Wasteland in packs and deliver day is going to be like Black Friday at every LGS.
Was late the the replay stream last night. Anyone have any news about the stoneblade deck that was running Nahiri? I'm happy that is getting some love along with the Goblin.
I think BB was left off the back panel for two reasons... so we don't have the hype driving up the price, and because Timmy (ie new players) hate cards like BB (it makes you lose life each turn.) Instead this is totally marketed at Timmy how loves creatures and planeswalkers. I'm sure we will see BB in the deck.
Is it just me and my 80's childhood, but does it seem to anyone else that their is a lot of Transformers vibe coming from the DFC's? Here me out...
Cloistered Youth is the guy that was a Decepticon spy.
Thraben Sentry is the Fortress Maximus
Civilized Scholar -> Scoponok
Delver is so the Insecticons
Ludevic's Test Subject clearly in Unicron because of how long it takes to Transform
Screeching Bat -> Starscream
Reckless Waif -> Arcee
Mayor of Avabruck -> Blaster
Bloodline Keeper -> Soundwave becase the Decepticons can fly
It seems like all the Humans out side of blue are Autobots and everything else is a Decepticon.
Now we get an epiupment that transformers into a BA Demon... Totally Megatron
On a side note, Moonmist might as well be called "Transform and Roll out!" I really hope they have a card printed in the block that says "Transform all non-Humans. Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt this turn by Humans." Just so the Deceptions get to have the card "Deceptions, Attack!"
The only way its viable is if you can keep Champion of the Parish resolved long enough for this to go off, otherwise it seems like people will save the DoJ for their turn 5/6 instead of turn 4.
Also, you forgot Gavony Township. Because, you know, that does nothing with tokens or buffing things up, and a small green splash allows for Beast Within among other things.
