I'm a very casual player, a Timmy-Johny, and I'm pretty happy about this change. I build decks to be focused around my commander and I'll often build in self imposed handicaps. Cards will have to adhere to a theme and not just be included because it's a format staple. For build around commander players like me, this change is excellent. My strategy/win condition can't be shut down permanently with a single card. That's where the power of tuck comes from. One card ruins everything. Even the most excellent removal cards can't do that.
For players who don't build around their commanders, this change doesn't effect you. For ultra spikes, this just means your strategies are even more powerful.
It seems that this change would mostly effect players who don't want to be super OP but want to have answers to the broken. I understand the concern, but I don't think removal spells should so thoroughly shut down any strategy, whether it's busted or not.
The Theriad ISN'T about Elspeth. We were told that a long while ago by Doug.
There are certainly parallels, but there are a lot of details that don't match up.
I'm a bit miffed about the treatment of Elspeth, but the Journey into Nyx teaser art features her and likely Ajani (leonin wielding his signature weapon), so perhaps this time, she fled to just gather up some reinforcements to bring it back with a vengeance.
If there's any continuity of the Theriad story that started to be introduced in the flavor text, it was written in the past tense. Epic stories aren't written unless there's an epic conclusion, so hopefully this is just part of her hero's journey.
Ouch! Nine bulk rares. It almost sounds as if the boxes were box-mapped.
Hmm.... Possibly. They were loose packs. I thought I was getting all japanese packs, but 4/9 were English. I usually buy my boxes there because everything's a little cheaper than the other stores nearby.
It's been a while since I've bought any packs, so when I got to the store, thought it might be fun to buy some RTR block stuff, so got three packs each of Return to Rav, Gatecrash and Dragon's Maze.
I think the lands are sweet. Not as good as Shock Lands/Fetch lands? Of course not. This set doesn't want to move that fast. It wants the focus on mono color > devotion. Such high, off the wall expectations so many people have. I'm glad a bunch of you whiners have your panties in a wad. Maybe feel a little less entitled?
That's being considered for a Tariel deck I've just started working on. Problem is it takes a wheel around the table before it does anything and in the mean time it's just a boring 2/2.
Making ~40k a year after taxes and my employer pays my rent. If only I didn't have to pay back those student loans. If I were smart I'd just buy singles, but I enjoy opening packs too much.
This is out of a Japanese booster box. Probably the best box I've ever opened. The foil Worldspine Wurm was in the same pack as the Jace and 4/5 Guildmasters in a single go. Pretty solid rares, too.

Rix Maadi Guildmage works so well with unleash. Undercosted beaters, if they block, nerf their blockers to prevent trades. If they don't, punish them for it with second ability. And she's a mana dump late game. By herself she is removal. How is that not good?
You can add "Being featured in what people already consider the worst Duel Deck" to the list
This is what blows me away. Anyone who could consider this the worst duel deck without even seeing a list is just a troll. Plain and simple. Not a single card is known with 100% certainty and yet people are already making up their minds about it? Seems exceedingly unreasonable.
Looks like it has plenty of potential and given the Izzet v. Golgari decks, it seems they learned their lesson from the misfire that was Venser v. Koth. If they can keep up that up, then all the naysaying may all be for nothing. I got Venser v. Koth, but I only got around to opening it about two months after the fact to pull out the Path to Exile and Journeyer's Kite.
My money is on Sorin v2. Putting in v1 would be a fantastic way to troll everyone, but they can't be that dumb... can they?

Oh. Well that's unfortunate. Never mind then. <.<

This guy knows what's up. If my deck has white in it, you can be sure Sun Titan is there.

All three complete junk enchantments. Moving on.
Yeah, not any better. Here's hoping Dragon's Maze has something amazing in it.
I once made a Melek EDH deck. Of all the EDH decks I've made (about a dozen), it's the only one I've ever dismantled.
It's so bad, it's almost comical.
Jace with foil mountain.
