Here's my Azorious Humans list that has been doing incredibly well for me. Detain is a very underused ability, it helps push through so much extra damage. Coupled with a few Resto Angels, it's great. Mutavault is amazing too, helping trigger battalion if necessary and helping survive wrath. Moorland Haunt is a decent mana dump as well. Oh, and don't get me started on Brave the elements. It is amazing.
Lavinia is amazing too. Such a great finisher. The sideboard is still in the works, but I'm trying to answer as much as possible. Frontlines for bonfire, verdicts as azorious charms for tokens, nevermore for thragtusk and verdict, Thalia for control, purify for reanimator, and intrepid because he is cool.
Upon testing, Etherium Sculptor is awesome, as is Academy Ruins. Will post a new uw version tomorrow. The affinity version is good, but the more the merrier.
Hmm, Sorin seems a little random in your deck. Sign in Blood as well, since aggro decks aren't really looking to draw, rather than looking to win with their hands and just keep applying pressure as they draw into threats.
It's amazing what kind of shenanigans you can pull off with Paradise Mantle. I've drawn through the entire deck before by playing creatures, then equipping Paradise Mantle and Sword of Vengeance on them to immediately tap them for more mana. Mentor of the Meek and Origin Spellbombs provide decent alternate draw options, albeit a tad slow. Still, this is incredibly fun to play if you're looking for a cheap version of Puresteel. Glint Hawk Idol was always a favorite of mine, and really helps post-wrath. I could see myself upping the Glint Hawk count as well, as it triggers Mentor of the Meek and helps bounce equips for Puresteel, possibly allowing us to reuse a Living Weapon.
Now down to brass tax. Where to begin when trying to supe this up to its optimal potential. All the following cards come to mind:
Blue also gives you Spectral Flight and Curiosity, if you need more reasons to warrant the splash. Invis Stalker is definitely worth it, despite being less than his Geist brother.
Figured I would revive this to see if anyone could help me with ideas? I have a monowhite version that is incredibly fun to run, but not too competitive. I'll post it if anyone is interested. I was thinking a W/U version would be fun, with Thoughtcast and Trinket Mage and whatnot. So many options I'm just having trouble formulating it into a deck. I'm not going for t1 or anything, just trying to find a way to optimize the deck to its fullest potential. Puresteel Paladin has always been one of my favorite cards to run.
This is my updated list. I ran it at my last FNM and went 3-0, beating GW Aggro twice and BW Auras. Hopefully next week will provide better testing. Outside of FNMs, its done really well against Naya Blitz and BW Zombies. I have found that just playing creatures is really all you need to be doing. The deck is incredibly fast, with turn 4 and 5 wins happening almost 60-70% of the time. If you know your opponent is playing wrath, just play smart. Nevermore from the sideboard is great for Supreme Verdict. I know lots of you are probably thinking I should just mainboard Thalia since I run only creatures, but honestly she just isn't great against most of the field, and I hate getting multiples. I'd much rather save her for Control decks.
So its the normal Mono black list without Staff of Nins and Sorins and maindeck Duress instead? Original. Regardless, I actually was thinking of something like myself. Lingering Souls could be decent, at least in the board, for creature decks. Possibly a singleton Vault of the Archangel as well. I would max out the Sorins, too, or at least bump to three. Never liked Nocturnus, but to each his own. Not sure what would replace him anyways. Eh, not really fixes and more like suggestions, good luck with the deck.
Craig Wescoe wrote an article about a GW list he was thinking of running, but did not. A week later, his list, with a few changes, 4-0d a Daily. This is the first Selesyna Humans list to do so since GTR.
I will put 2 Riders in over 1 Rootborn defenses and the 4th Fiend Hunter. Against Aristocrats Angel of Jubilation shuts off the sacrificing. Anything else come to mind for against them? I'll be able to test my list this Friday so I'll be able to put in more critique.
Or possibly -3 Thalia Mainboard for 2 Riders and 1 Cavern of Souls, moving them to the board.
This is a list that 4-0'd a MTGO daily a few months ago. I am thinking of running it and seeing what needs to be done from there. Any thoughts before I begin? Looks pretty solid, and I have all the cards for it.
