The only occasions where I understand it, are locker rooms, and people just reaching puberty. In the first, it's inevitable, and in the second, they are just now beginning to produce that smell, from something other than a substance being on them. So they don't know to do it.
Slight off topic here (since I really think poor general hygiene is the problem in the OP). Some of us can't help smelling bad at an FNM or other such week night event. I work a sweaty, smelly job and sometimes don't get off in time to shower and make FNM. I'm sure I've offended some people because i come straight from work (I change clothes but that's it)
, but considering the whole point of constructing your deck in the first place to suit how you want to play the game or represent some fantastic idea, why would you want to on a regular basis? Standards are different between packaged games and collectable games. You honestly want near-identical experiences each time? (NOT plays/strategies, experiences) Really?
I think this is your problem. You are expecting people to play a competitive game by more casual standards. (And you can be a competitive kitchen table player). Many of us like being competive. For my own play style magic is about finding the most brutally efficient deck that has multiple lines of play in the format and learning that deck inside out. Every player wants something different from the game. Sadly yours doesn't seem harmonious with competitive play.
1-2 colors...color screw is far to common in 3-5 (and a lot more common in 2 color than I'd like)
I really like the consistency of mono decks but WotC keeps pushing multicolor so...I play what they give me.
I'm kinda disappointed that there was no control magic in it. I could really use that card foiled. Otherwise few of these cards interst me....I doubt I'll buy many singles
I would call a judge and have them give him the oracle text. If I summarize I might leave something out and, withholding free information is a no-no.
This is, of course at competitive and professional REL.
At regular REL, I'd just pull the card up on my phone and let them see a copy of it.
I've often felt pushed into sealed and block by wizards.
With block having prereleases and a whole PTQ season and sealed having a lot of GPs I feel I've got to invest a lot of energy into formats I don't really enjoy.
Not sure what qualifies as a "great trade" to me it would
Be a trade where both parties are ecstatic with it.
Great games are what I remember. Win or lose, it's fun and interesting games I remember
Do neither...find a competitive deck you like and buy the cards for it...and any cards that might go in it. Buying cases isn't a good idea unless you are buying in bulk (100s of cases) and running a store.
4x sets get you a lot of unplayable chaff, it's much more economical to just buy a deck and 4x other staples
Earthcraft+squirrel nest
Hermit Druid+ sutured ghoul

Casually irl 5-7 days a week
Competitively online 3-4 days a week (I've been slacking lately)
It helps when you live with other players
