I imagine it being in the $5-10 range after rotation. It's a rare from a newer set, and it was given away as a promo, so the supply should be pretty large. But, the demand for it should remain pretty reasonable after rotation because of not only Modern players, but also casual appeal and the ever wily ANGEL COLLECTORS.
That fake is definitely a step above anything I've seen before (granted, I'm no expert). Usually, fakes are not printed with the Magic "dot pattern." When the seller got it "verified," that's probably all that the "authenticator" looked for. If I'm ever in the market for high value cards, I'll be sure to check them out closely!
Definitely not NM. A seller would have to be blind to miss that, and the fact that they didn't tell you means that they were either trying to conceal it, or they're lazy/sloppy. Either way, they should give you a partial refund, I would say 10-20% is fair.
Thrun is a terrible, do-nothing card that doesn't really see play anywhere. Casual demand is the only thing I can think of that would drive it's price.

The card is only going to get better as more, powerful creatures are printed. I don't see Wizards printing a better version of it any time soon, and Pod is already a modern staple.
Price is going to stay depressed for a year or two until someone buys them all up on TCGPlayer and they shoot up to $20.
Definitely looks fake, but the way they printed it looks interesting to me. I don't know if anyone else here has ever bought from them, but it looks like the printing process http://www.reprolabels.com uses for there stickers. I would venture to guess it's an expensive process, so whoever made this must have had access to some fancy kit.
Also, back when this card was a thing, it would definitely have been one of the cards you faked, maybe even before a Mox or a dual land.
Do you have it in hand? Try shining a light through it. Compare it face to face against other beta cards.
