If decent LD spells were printed, there would probably not be too much of an effect on the meta. Ramp is cheaper and stronger than LD can be without Sinkhole being reprinted, so the ramp decks will get a turn slower but still go off. Maybe there would be a shift from valakut to eldrazi ramp, but Primeval Titan is too strong a tutor for LD to control Valakut Titan decks
Koth is a great card in a meta that does not allow him to see play. Red has to play RDW and win by turn 4 or else it is blown out by a deck that ramped into a titan. There isn't the support for Big Red, as there aren't the 3-5 cost creatures or spells necessary for that deck.
Give it time. WotC should be able to print a few good, more expensive red cards before Koth rotates. Then he will be awesome.
Is Phyrexian Negator fast enough to be playable? The art looks awesome, especially on the platinum angel- thats what that card should always have looked like. I wonder if these are meant to be similar enough to old cards that we make the connection but still get new cards or if they are simply new art. I hope that black one is like negator- black could use a beater
As for Jace, he's pretty reasonably powered. He's just overpriced because he's blue, the preferred spike color. He isn't really any more powerful than Garruk, Elspeth 1, or Ajani 2.
Are you aware that he is absolutely destroying standard right now? Primeval Titan is annoying as all get out, but that is the card preventing 85% of the field from being control decks. Jace is powerful enough to be in Legacy decklists. Jace is the color blue in standard. This is an eternal viable card. It's expensive because it is very rare and incredibly potent.
Edit: I didn't even post on topic o_O
The idea of mythics is great- the shards mythics were cool, as they were very powerful but cost a lot. The problem is that now WoTC can't put the best cards at rare, as that will make people wonder why there are even mythics in the first place. Lotus Cobra and Vengevine are very strong rares, so the natural thought is to make them mythics. This is annoying, as it reduces your chance of pulling constructed-viable cards
Is extended dying? Or is this just a slow time of the season? I ask this because it seems there are only one or two posts every few days in this section.
And yes, I do realize that extended has a lot smaller card pool now.
Those are all good effects that would make standard much more interesting, but they are definitely in the wrong colors. Psionic Blast should be black or red. The red lockdown type cards should be blue, maybe white.
Lightmine Field is a dead card. You have to go UW if you want this to work, or else the other guy will ramp into a titan before you get your world queller down
Source?
Trade the BSA unless you really like playing white. Chances are you won't be able to trade it for a grave titan though
