He was the only legend in the box of 1000 random cards I bought when first getting into the game, and he is now my favorite EDH general. I just ordered an Italian copy of Stangg to be his evil twin. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.
Well, A Necrotic Ooze with both Scavenging Ooze and the Sisters in the grave could be funny, assuming the rules actually work that way.
One other thing to remember about infect is the -1/-1 counters part. Wither on a big-butt blocker is very strong, and that increases the value on cards like Priests of Norn even if you're never planning to win via poison. Unfortunately, a dedicated blocker needs to be very strong to make the cut in EDH, and this still falls far short of the mark.
I mean, there are a lot of decks that want "reasonable finisher who also gets you more gas" but, as the pool of magic cards keeps getting deeper, there are more and more things that fit that role.
Got you with a ninja edit before you replied.
Overall, Infinite Reflection is more flexible though because, if you're planning to use it on a creature that combos with itself (like, say, Enduring Scalelord), it can be dangerous to give that capability to your opponents as well.
One important thing to remember with this card is that it's extremely potent as a combat trick. Cast as an instant after blockers are declared it turns every fight into a trade (absent +1/+1 coutners or other effects). If you have an anthem out, then you win every block.
Another great interaction is using this as a boardwipe if you have a 0/0 creature with +1/+1 counters on it (Like Primordial Hydra, among literally hundreds of others). If you have such a creature, Mirrorweave essentially reads "destroy each creature without a +1/+1 counter on it."
EDIT: Oops, not quite, there's no window between the Lieutenant coming back and the Scythe moving to her for Triskelion to ping her again. Need to make the combo more ridiculous by adding more pieces....
EDIT: Add Brass Squire and Thornbite Staff. (And please don't mention that Scythe of the Wretched and Triskelion make a three card combo already with like a billion other cards).
But it's really a very small buff in most circumstances. The only decks where I can see this change having a substantial effect are, as mentioned many times above, Captain Sisay, Empress Galina, the flip-walkers, and Ob Nixilis of the Black Oath (he's the only commander-walker with another planeswalker card so far, right?).
Honestly, I can't see myself running this even if it was just "T: Target player loses 3 life."
It's worth noting that he is often stronger than he seems. Like, you're thinking you want to be able to make 3+ zombies in a single turn to make him really shine, but so many times I have found myself with 1/1 utility creatures stuck in my hand because I don't want to play them into Noxious Ghoul.
