I just bought a 6-pack of "Flying Dog Snake Dog," an IPA with 7.1% alcohol. It's pretty tasty and I really like it.

On days when I'm not drinking the hard stuff, I've been sticking to pomegranate green tea and water. I try to stick to a gallon of water daily but sometimes it's easy to forget (especially when you misplace your Nalgene). Smile

I did a cursory skim throughout the known issues listed here but the biggest issue I've noticed that the Community Issues forum (and all associated subfora) seem to have disappeared.

I don't know if that is currently being addressed but I (and I dare I say most other users) would feel remiss if we couldn't discuss issues in the community.

Also, I would like to see a "preview thread/preview post" option when creating a thread or posting a reply, similar to what we had before.

    Smile

EDIT: Also, it appears that the ability to see how many times you've been thanked or thanked others is not present on the new system as well.

They should create a sticky thread with all the links to each "This is the worst set ever" in it.

I think Theros and Born of the Gods is fine, no way is either the worst set ever created.

This is honestly the best idea I've ever heard come out of the Rumor Mill.

    Thumbs Up

On point, there are some cards that are absolutely insane in terms of power. Brimaz, King of Oreskos seems like one to me. There are some solid commons and uncommons as well (personally my favorite type of cards to see in spoilers).

I'll stop judging the US army when they actually begin to confess their war crimes and actions. As long as they're willing to hide the actions within their ranks, I see them all to be responsible for them. And US has a long record of never admitting to anything and trying to hide evidence, and I do not see it ending anytime soon.

Is the implication here that soldiers should be put on a pedestal?

I see you conveniently ignored the sentence after, so let me state it again:

I'm just saying treat them like everyone else until that particular individual proves they don't deserve that treatment, not because you perceive them to be criminals or rapists.

But of course, this has nothing to do with the shooting in the movie theater. So why even comment on my post if you apparently have no interest in the topic at hand?

I agree that they would be remiss to not involve multiple planes eventually. But if they are looking to make this into a series with lasting popular appeal, they really need to take it slow. You can't just start off slinging spells and hopping planes, or you'll lose any newcomers fairly quick. Think about some of the fantasy movie series that have become popular recently. Harry Potter starts out with just a relatable adolescent boy in the real world, who then discovers this alternate world of magic. Or Lord of the Rings, which starts out in an idyllic countryside with a birthday party before introducing any trolls or goblins or spells.

I think they would be best served around having the first film center around a single, relatable planeswalker (Chandra maybe) on their home plane before their spark is awoken. Give people time to get attached to the character and their situation, and then maybe towards the middle or end have whatever traumatic event that awakens their spark. After that the character can find out about other planes and other planeswalkers and whatnot. Maybe the second movie takes place on a second single plane, to let people get used to the multi-plane concept, and only after that have a movie which involves a multiple-plane plotline.

I couldn't possibly disagree more. The whole of the franchise centers around mages who are capable of walking the planes. Moviegoers who saw the first Thor movie and didn't read any of the comics had no problem connecting the dots on Asgard, Niflheim, or Midgard (Earth). I think you're seriously underestimating the attention span of the movie-viewing public, as they're entirely capable of watching a movie about planeswalkers and seeing more than one plane. It'd be hard to explain why planeswalkers are so special compared to other magic-users without going to other planes.

Cops (and soldiers) are just humans.
They have the added complications of being more susceptible to PTSD, power-tripping, a sense of authority real or imagined...

This is what bothers me about all the hero worship I see people heap upon cops and soldiers.
There are plenty of dirty cops who gun people down without justification, beat people to death, beat people to within an inch of it, accept bribes, traffic drugs and money for people, take some cheddar from crime scenes...
Plenty of soldiers have shot unarmed "combatants", taunted or abused the residents of the countries we are occupying, and there are nearly 5000 cases of sexual assault on female troops by our own soldiers (their comrades) each year...

I do not put them on a pedestal, they are just as effed up as the rest of us.

    Slant

I agree that cops and soldiers are human. I agree 100% with you on this. However, judging cops and soldiers as a whole by the actions of a few corrupt cops, war criminals, and sexual predators is pretty ridiculous, especially considering your first post in this thread, where you stated that "close to 90 million gun owners didn't shoot someone yesterday. A fraction of a percent did." Below is your earlier quote.

    Quote from IcecreamMan80
Yay! Another violent crime happens, and the focus goes right to WE NEED GUN CONTROL ERHMAHGAWD!

Close to 90 million gun owners didn't shoot someone yesterday.
A fraction of a percent did.
Most of the ones who did weren't lawful owners to begin with.
    A fraction of them were.

Drunk drivers likely killed more people yesterday than gun owners.

If only the government had the guts to stand up to Anheuser-Busch and all those alcoholic beer chugging lunatics!

Bloody bonkers! We need more car control, or alcohol control!

No thanks, I'll keep my second amendment. I have never even drawn any of my guns on another human being. I hope that I never have to. But you know what they say, better to have one and not need it than need one and not have it.

    Come on man.

I know you're saying that you don't "put them on a pedestal" but your reason for not doing so is by essentially judging the many by the actions of the few. I'm just saying treat them like everyone else until that particular individual proves they don't deserve that treatment, not because you perceive them to be criminals or rapists.

To address the topic at hand, I don't believe any more security is necessary in public places. I, for one, don't feel particularly threatened (I don't own any guns and don't plan to) and I don't feel I need to live in a police state. That being said, being the person that I am, I don't think I would necessarily start a fight with a stranger over something as simple as texting in a theater. If I were texting and it bothered someone so much that they had to mention it to me, I (more than likely) would apologize and put it away. Problem solved.

A series of bad decisions on both sides led to this but that doesn't excuse the shooter from his actions, which was a completely disproportionate response to thrown popcorn. I think everyone can agree on that.

House/dance music, mostly. Here, often it is played blasting all frequencies from their cars, or similarly blasting out of a club.

Even worse for me is the older Italians gushing over Sinatra and the rest of the Crap Pack crooners.

Actually, I think, ultimately, my biggest problem with these people is their attitude of, "If you're not like us, you deserve to be **** on." Doubly worse when it comes from your own family...

It might be a poor example, but I could imagine how "Jersey Shore" might influence a lot of younger kids of Italian descent towards that type of behavior you described. More life imitating art!

American, 100% Italian heritage but I'm minimum third-generation American.

I despise American Italians in general (triply so for Brooklyn Italians - myself being born, raised and living in Brooklyn, NY) and the "off the boat" goomba attitude many of them have. Can't stand their music, either. And mob movies... Just no.

This is just curiosity on my part, what is considered Italian-American (or American Italian) music? Admittedly, I've never been further east than Cincinatti, so this is completely new to me.

Also, I've read several times how mob movie culture influences the Mafia. It's interesting, art influencing life and so on.

Why do people keep insisting that the movie remain true to the game, as opposed to the storyline? Dungeons and Dragons didn't fail because it failed to connect to the game, it failed because it didn't have a good plot that resonated with the audience, a notable setting, good production values, or skilled actors. Battleship failed because it was a ridiculous movie with a ridiculous plot and ****ty actors. Not because it didn't "hold true to the game."

Also, my last point: how many people went into LOTR (or Thor, or Captain America, or Batman) not reading a single novel (or comic book) and still were blown away by the movie? That's what we all need to realize: if the movie is good enough, then the audience doesn't need to know a single thing about the Magic universe... the movie will convey all the audience needs to know and then some.

You go into almost any movie not knowing the plot and you can follow along right? I don't see why people would "have no chance".

The fact that you say "probably" here, even sarcastically, tells me I have good cause to not take any of your other opinions seriously.

    This exactly.

I mean, talk about disproportionate responses on the part of the shooter, to horrific consequences. And according to some, it's "probably not life threateningly justified self-defense?" Wow. Facepalm

I would say the shooter's probably going to get what he deserves but this is Florida we're talking about.

I personally think Andrew Garfield as Jace would be awesome. He's young enough and he did a great job in the Amazing Spider-man.

That kid from Warm Bodies would be good as well.

Legalese is an anti-intellectual word. Besides, it's a time-honoured tradition, so currency is no matter. XD

    Got you.

I work with a lot of aviators, and they're obsessed with maintaining their flight currency, as it's (understandably) a big deal for them. I think their lingo has washed off on me! Hence the choice in words.

In brief, what is the power of the NRA and what is up with gun politics in the US?

Who else is cares? Who else is crying on the inside? This is just bloody bonkers.

If you're a politician running in a district or state with any amount of rural religious conservatives, being seen as anti-2nd Amendment will mean the end of your career. Hence why we have so many southern and rural Democrats who are staunchly pro-gun. And why every politician during a campaign has a picture taken at the rifle range, carrying some ridiculous rifle one of their aides passed them and trying not to look like an idiot.

It's really unfortunate but I don't think it will ever change.
