Current hunch is that Slaughter Games may see serious Modern sideboard play simply because it uncounterably removes all the Scapeshifts from the Scapeshift Combo deck.
That version will hold up in Modern. I believe it will be the best Scapeshift deck in the format, although Wargate will give it a run for its money. If Wargate is Tron, Scapeshift is Exarch Twin. If Wargate dies to Abrupt Decay, Scapeshift has no such problems.
Think Lotus Cobra could help? With Cobra and an Explore you could power out a fast Primeval Titan, if that ends up being a key card. Although if you don't run the Titan, Cobra probably wouldn't be that good since you need a bunch of land, not mana.
Back before they changed extended, a friend of mine had a RUG ramp deck that used Steam Vents and Stomping Ground as the off color mountains, and a few islands and forests, instead of Prismatic Omen. It ran a fair amount of counterspells, like Remand and Mana Leak, I remember Rewind being in there though I don't know why, to slow down the opponent while ramping, before casting Scapeshift with counter backup. This was before Primeval was printed though, and I don't know if that version would hold up in Modern, but all I know is I can't wait to try out Valakut. Missed that card after it left standard.
Maybe at your LGS, it was. The only place I've ever seen Dragonstorm do semi-well was Overextended. Even there, it was T1.5, tops, and easily hated out. Maybe it was T1 at some point in the past before I started playing, but in my MTG time, it's never been.
Dragonstorm destroyed the standard portion of Worlds 2007. Putting 2 of the 3 people that made the deck in the top 8, and creating one of the most tense moments in the history of magic, rivaled only by the $20,000 lightning helix.
The only reason I could see running Might of Alara would be if you were running Viashino Slaughtermaster. A friend of mine was playing domain zoo in old extended a couple years ago, with that card. He landed it turn two against some control deck, the guy laughed at him then proceeded to get smashed for 22 on turn three to an 11/11 Slaughtermaster pumped by two Might of Alaras. Problem is, Slaughtermaster is fairly bad on his own.
During an edh game a friend cast open the vaults bringing back spreading plague and some artifact creatures from alara so they have a color. Do the creatures die to to the plague or do they live?
It also brought back a confusion in the ranks, can someone please expain what happens.

Niv-Mizzet is my favorite card in the game, followed closely by Magus of the Moon so I figured I would put them in the same deck, because I've never seen it before. I'm looking for ideas to improve the deck, and no card (other than cards banned on the "official" site) are off limits, as I play in a fairly cut throat meta.
Can you target a player with both parts of arc trail, or in inferno titan's case two or three times, and redirect part of the damage to a planeswalker. I'm pretty sure you can't since you have to have separate targets and planeswalkers don't count as players, but a friend of mine said you could and I want to be sure before going to states.
If Slaughter Games becomes a problem, Valakut decks could play Venser, Shaper Savant or Mindbreak Trap could be boarded against it.

Combos/Great Interactions:
I run the typical combo pieces with Niv Curiosity and Ophidian Eye.
Mind Over Matter is a combo piece with Niv, but it also works amazing with almost every card in the deck.
I can take infinite turns with Time Warp and a way to bounce or copy Izzet Chronarch.
Most of the creatures in the deck I can copy with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker have EtB triggers, or just add to my wizard count to draw more cards with Azami, Lady of Scrolls or make someone pay more with Patron Wizard. I also have Pestermite for the infinite combo.
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth allows me to deal infinite damage by shuffling in my graveyard after I've draw and discarded everything with Niv and Mind Over Matter.
Magus of the Moon just shuts down so many decks, and with proper setup It will barely phase me.
Sage of Fables and Glen Elendra Archmage gives me as many negates as I have U open.
Sensei's Divining Top and Magus of the Future/Future Sight lets me draw a card for each mana I have available.
