Absolute bomb in limited, and uncommon. I'm prepared to lose to this card quite often haha.

His sideboard was very light on the storm hate. That is the only thing I would change about the deck.

Ben and I have tested a lot of matchups with TES vs DnT and I can attest first hand just how strong his deck is against us preboard. It's next to impossible to beat him unless you ToA him t1 otd (or T2 otp). Even if I drop 8-10 goblins T1 and he kept a SFM, I lose to batterskull. Basically you have to get stupidly lucky. Omnitell is a different story, but that's what Hunter and Bola are for.

It's also very important to note his mulliganing. It may seem like common knowledge, but it's key.

Ben is a good friend of mine and a stellar player. We tested his deck an insane amount the past few weeks, including a couple 4-0's at our LGS weekly Legacy tournaments. He put a lot of thought and time into the deck so I couldn't be happier for him Grin

    TL;DR Gogogo!

AFAIK it's an automatic game loss for presenting an improper deck. That's why they deck check people.

When some one hands you off to cut, ask to count their sideboard and then tell them to leave it on the table. There's no harm in it, outside of people thinking you're a "rules nazi" or whatever. You are PAYING money to play in a tournament, you deserve a fair game.

It might also fit into a splinterfright deck. With Already Grisly salvage (instant tracker's instincts without flashback but more digging power) and this guy to pump splinterfrights with creature cards from hand, they might become competitive...

This is exactly what I was thinking. Splinterfright, Mulch, Salvage, Mangler, Troll, Crawler, Lilly 2.0, Ghoultree, etc. Could be fun with both spellbomb and surgical rotating. Sure we have crypt in standard but thats 1 of 3. Also, Grafdiggers does nothing against the salvage mechanic, which is worth mentioning.

There's a lot of directions to take the deck with a 3rd color as well: BUG for Instincts, Junk for Unburial, Jund for looting/removal.

Ahhh the inner brewer is going wild in me haha, this may be the first standard season I play in years. :p

Looks like the ledgewalkers' personal effects budget has suffered a drastic decrease between Guildpact and RTR. Poor girl must be freezing at night. Grin

I'd rather play Haunted Fengraf over Golgari Thug. Sure, no guarantees, but it returns dead guys to your hand and not your library, and it's a land that can be Loamed every turn.

Besides, this deck plays so few creatures that it may as well be a guarantee.

Hrm that may be worth it. IDK though if I were to hit Bob with one already on the table over a 7/8 Gerf I might get pretty upset haha. And against Rakdos you really really need that lifegain. Which leads me to a relevant question:

Whats the second best thing we have compared to Zuran Orb?

Checking back in with a little secret tech for you guys playing the grindy version like myself: Golgari Thug

This guy won me at least 3 games Wednesday functioning as a faux Volrath's Stronghold. It seems really clunky and slow but recurring Goyf or a post-board Baloth is just back breaking. He's absolutely fine as a singleton and something I would definitely suggest testing. Killing him is super easy and if you have enough mana (which is pretty much every game for me) you can get him rolling in a single turn once the game goes late.

    My list as of current:

    4 bob
    4 goyf
    1 thug

    1 darkblast
    2 looting
    3 flame jab
    3 inquisition
    4 raven's crime
    4 life from the loam

    3 lilly
    3 siesmic

    28 land

    3 grudge
    2 pyroclasm
    3 baloth
    1 seal of primordium
    2 torpor orb
    2 slaughter pact
    1 thoughtsieze
    1 engineered explosives

So is this deck dead or what?

    Absolutely not.

    Quote from BEDERNDERN
apparently its the deck price that is keeping the deck down. its like a 900 deck.

This is 100% correct. The deck doesn't function quite the same without Bob, and Goyf is a necessary 4-of because we don't have Ooze or Terravore, making it terribly expensive.

I've been playing Loam the past month or so in our LGS' modern tournaments to great success. Last week I went 5-0 only dropping one game to U/W Tron off the back of a brutal (aka bad) judgement call. This deck has yet to lose in 3 to ANY delver variant in testing. I'm something like 16-2 vs UWR and 4-0 vs RUG. The only way they win is by opening the absolute nut high and you get garbage (ie: no darkblast/flamejab/inquisition/crime in the opening hand). Post-board the match is a straight up joke on the back of Obstinate Baloth.

The only sketchy matchups seem to be battle-bots (affinitylol) and pod but they have basically zero interaction and once you strip their hand, have to get very very lucky to get back in the game. At first I was really worried about Tron because.. well.. t3 karn isn't fun. But it turns out just ripping their hand to shreds or loaming ghost quarter repeatedly just stops anthing from ever happening.

Also, boarding a pair of Slaughter Pact is highly advised. Twin, Pod, and Tron (barring Iona in Gifts) all will go for it when you tap out. And the level of punish you get when bricking them for 0 mana makes you feel like a god haha.

On the topic of deck choices, the one card I can't get behind at the moment is Countryside Crusher. I was running him initially in place of Bob (wtfamidoing), but he always felt clunky and unnecessary. There was a lot of times where I'd have him + lilly + seismic and just tank forever, agonizing over the correct play (which is almost always lilly unless you have like a million lands in hand), only to walk into a GftT/Terminate/Bolt/Whatever and want to shoot myself. Faithless Looting is another spicy addition, but after some fiddling round with it, I've found that 2 is the correct number. For a long time I was running 3 but since have dropped on for an additional Lilly (the 3rd) which is ALWAYS live.
