Nobody builds a perfect deck from scratch. You build a bad deck, then you test it for a long time until you know it really well, then you refine it until it's a good deck. Deckmaking is a process, not a skill.
The decks you find on the net are built after literally hundreds to thousands aggregate hours of testing. No one comes up with netdecks on their own.
Well, while everybody else labors under the delusion that Soul Ransom's second ability is an upside ability, does anybody else want to tackle the question of what application a more restrictively-costed Control Magic (ignoring the drawback for a moment) would have in the current Standard environment?
I mean, my opinion of the card in a vacuum is very low, but if for some reason critter grabbing is the Great Metagame Answer... I'd be interested to hear about it!
Assuming there are no breakout aggro decks, the metagame could be largely a midrange grind (think Jund vs. Jund in modern). Taking their Thragtusk, even if they can 4 for 1 themselves to get it back, could be relevant.
Does it play Colossal Might right now? Because it's exactly what Ghor-Clan Rampager does for them, but without the irrelevant creature part (I mean, who would cast a non-Infect creature in an Infect deck?).
Like Evoke, I am pretty sure the pump can't be countered. That's incredibly relevant.
Remember how good blood artist/falkenrath noble were in Limited? I suspect this will mechanic will be almost as strong. In constructed it's hard to say.
You can activate his ability in your draw step, or you can wait until his trigger is on the stack at the beginning of your upkeep and then use his ability (in response to the trigger) before he transforms. There is no "in between steps".
But yeah, the biggest travesty is obviously the fast release pace of sets that drives prices up and the reserve list.

I also like the look on people's faces when they wrath and then realize she can target any player.
For example, "Keyword - Target creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn. If that creature is only one color, it gets +4/+4 instead."
