just after some people's thoughts etc regarding the rug/grixis manabase.
Dickmann and todd Anderson roll 4/5 sources that tap for green, so forest, breeding pool, stomping ground, 1-2 hinterlands, I guess the hinterlands depend on whether the deck is running huntmaster/thrun.
Grixis manabases that have put up the results have generally been running swamp, watery grave, blood crypt, arguably grixis has harder cards to cast with terminate and kolaghans command, so my question is, how come the grixis manabase hasn't adopted the rug twin variant by running 1-2 drowned catacombs, are they really just awful in a grixis manabase, very curious to hear peoples thoughts and experiences if you have run drowned catacomb.
Hi Ther
Just looking for some clarification on stifle, if I cast stifle in response to deathrite shaman, the exiling land ability, will it be countered and will the land still get exiled? Same goes with any planeswalker, if I stifle the + or - ability I assume the walker still stays on the loyalty it was already on?
Yeah I really do want to run another snap, in Jund I only ever ran 2 courser so I may try drop the 3rd courser and see how that goes, life from the loam is an interesting choice, definitively somewhat under used in modern
hey there, I assume this is same deck and post from reddit?
I had a similar list but have changed it closer to yours, accept running the 3/3 split of ts/iok and 1 sultai charm instead of the 4th decay, the list feels so good to play, has the same BG feel to it, and having the batterskulls really help in alot of matchups.
25 land feels right, hm I can't see what is good to cut for tec edge, the manabase is pretty tight as it is, can't really drop the green, otherwise ooze is so much worse. A life from the loam in board would be sweet, I feel maybe could drop a darkslick shores for an edge?
Definitely looking forward to playing this deck, will post results next time I goto modern at my lgs, we usually get between 16-20 players.
Looking for some clarity around mistbind clique, in play I currently have a bitterblossom and two faerie rouge tokens and a mutavault that can be activated. I cast clique in my opponents upkeep, my opponent says it resolves, so with clique resolved, the champion a faerie goes onto the stack, this is where I'm not sure, at this point with the champion a faerie on stack, is this when my opponent has a chance to respond to the champion trigger? I assume yes, but say he only has one removal spell, so the trigger resolves, upon resolution I champion say one of my faerie tokens, at this point is it too late for my opponent to kill the token? can he now only kill my mistbind which would stop his lands from becoming tapped?
Hopefully that makes sense, I assume the correct play is to always ask if mistbind resolves, then once the champion trigger hits stack, ask my opponent if he is responding, if no, from there he can now only kill my mistbind? if this answer is yes, if I choose to activate mutavault and if that resolves can my opponent remove the mutavault?
Sorry if this post sounds confusing, not sure how to best to use mistbind and what happens.
If I declare deceiver exarch as an attacker and my opponent doesn't block, I receive priority and cast twisted image, targeting deceiver, can my opponent then cast lightning bolt, killing my 4/1, before damage goes through? I assume yes but just want to check order etc.
This has probably been asked lots of times so apologies, thanks for your help in helping to understand the rules.
Current board state: 2 forest, 1 mountain, 2 island, 2 stomping ground, 2 steam vents.
I have a scapeshift in hand, say I want to do 9 damage, can I cast shift with the 2 forests & islands, sac those 4 lands, search for 3 mountains (vents, grounds etc) + 1 valakut, the molten pinnacle, those 4 lands etb and trigger at same time, valakut sees more than 6 mountains as I already have 5 on field, and would that do 9 damage?
Next case same board state as above but I also have one valakut on field so: 2 forest, 1 mountain, 2 island, 2 stomping, 2 vents, 1 valakut, and I do the same as above, cast shift, sac 4 lands, grab 3 mountains + valakut, would that do 18 damage?
How do the triggers work in this case for spike feeder & triggers, say I already have archangel of thune on the battlefield and I then play feeder and it resolves:
-from this point on, if my opponent uses path to exile in response to removing the counter from feeder targeting thune, and in response I remove another counter, in this case do feeder and thune both die? and what if my opponent target's feeder, same thing apply?
-same scenario above but replace path with lightning bolt targeting feeder and double bolt targeting thune.
Hopefully this can be explained, thanks for any help =)
Just wondering if I can declare a blocker with any creature I have on the battelefield, flash in restoration angel, blink the creature and use it to block again?
one last question, say I have 2 forest & gavony township as my three lands in play, and 5 creatures out, 2 birds of paradise, 2 other green creatures and 1 other, what is the most I can chord for, is it possible to chord for 5? if so what steps should be taken.
sorry for the complete noob question, just after some clarification for chord of calling
Scenario 1:
I announce chord for 3, I assume I can tap 3 green creatures for the 3G in the cost and from there I'll just need to tap 3 colourless mana, is this correct?
Scenario 2:
I announce chord for 3, can I tap 3 non-green creatures for that 3 mana, and from there I'll just need to need to 3G, say forest, is this correct?
Scenario 3:
Same as scenario 1, but a wall of roots is in play, can I put a counter on wall and use that G for the casting cost of chord and also tap the wall for another G?
