I understand the reasoning behind the suspension and fully support it. If you go on facebook and post "my boss is a jackass and all my co-workers are *******" they are going to fire you. Likewise, if a professional sports player goes on ESPN and says "my coach is an idiot and everyone on my team are worthless tools" they would kick him off the team. So when someone in his position goes online and starts degrading people in the magic community for no other reason than to just degrade someone, why should they get off the hook.

You could say that he hasn't broken any laws, but neither did the guy who made fun of his boss and his co-workers and neither did the player who made fun of his coach and his teammates. Behavior like this isn't tolerated anywhere else, so why should it be tolerated in the magic community? The magic group is no different than any other group of people and no one appreciates people being dicks to them for no reason. If you played warhammer with a group of people and one of them just wouldn't shut up about how much everyone else sucked and would make fun of them, he would be out of the group in about 3 seconds.

Wizards feels he is a detriment to the Magic community and has given out what they deem to be an appropriate punishment

as already stated above he will only get 1 additional mana. If Vorniclex doubled mana it would be worded similarly to Mana Reflection. If a card doubles mana produced, it says so. If a card only adds an additional mana, it says so. Vorniclex doesn't say "double". Even though the land taps for 2 mana, Vorniclex doesn't add 2 mana

If my opponent casts Show and Tell, he puts in a creature and I put in Frozen Aether, does his creature come into play tapped?

Regeneration only happens if the creature would die in the first place. What Necrobite does is put a regeneration shield on the creature until the end of the turn. If the creature would die for any reason (say it is being blocked by a creature with first strike or a creature with power much more than its toughness), then it gets regenerated. If it wouldn't die, it doesn't get removed from combat

    Short answer, No

Long Answer, No- Triggered abilities do not go on the stack until whatever is currently resolving finishes. In this case, you search with Primeval Titan, grab some lands (one of them happens to be a windbrisk heights) and another random land. Windbrisk Heights triggers but does not go on the stack yet. Primeval Titans ability continues to resolve until your library is shuffled. Once your library is shuffled AFTER fetching out the lands with the Titan, THEN you get to do the hideaway. So, no, you dont get to look at the top 4 while you are fetching your lands with Titans ability.

  • posted a message on Why hasn't the DCI implemented a rule against mana-weaving yet?
The tournament rules gives players 3 minutes to sideboard and shuffle. As Brian said, if they accomplish that within the time limit, its not slow play or stalling. There is no rule against mana-weaving because there doesn't need to be one. As long as the player randomizes the deck after doing so, there is nothing wrong. If they sufficiently randomize the deck afterwards, they didn't really accomplish much, but at the same time they didn't violate any rules in either Comprehensive Rules or the Magic Tournament Rule

you don't have to like it, and you may not agree with it, but the rules are the rules.. Since there is no rule that says "players can't mana-weave" players can mana-weave all they want. There are appropriate websites to voice your opinion concerning the Comprehensive Rules and The Magic Tournament Rules. However, this is not the correct avenue

  • posted a message on Basic land types
The subtype of the land is what gives it its type. Hallowed Fountain has the subtypes 'Island' and 'Plains' so it counts as both. Glacial Fortress has no subtypes, so it is neither. This confuses a lot of players. Just because something taps for a certain color, doesn't mean that it has the land types associated with it. For Example Murmuring Bosk has the subtype forest but can also tap for white and black. Just because it has the ability to do so does not mean that it is also a swamp and plains. Boil will destroy Hallowed Fountain and Tundra, but it won't destroy Glacial Fortress because Glacial Fortress isn't an island

    -1 Armageddon
    -1 Magus
    -1 Wasteland
    +1 Horizon Canopy
    +2 Timely Reinforcements

you only have 1 way to draw a card and unless you got both Crucible AND your singleton Canopy, it may as well not exist.

Also, the life loss from tapping canopy and Ancient Tomb adds up faster than you think. Timely reinforcements gives you that life back and gives you chump blockers and sac fodder. It's pretty boss. Try it out. I also found out that 4 Armageddon is definitely the wrong number. Armageddon isn't really a threat

Nissa is not a creature and her counters are not +1/+1 counters. The Magistrate does not interact with Nissa at all.

about the Inkmoth and humility question... i had a judge about 2 months ago tell me that how the layering works that inkmoth looses its flying and infect. the only reason that mishra's factory stats a 2/2 is because of the s/t. It would actually loose its ability to tap for +1/+1 while it is a creature.

I don't know which judge told you that, but they are wrong. If you activate a manland after humility has resolved, it will gain whatever abilities that come along with its activation (such as the flying and infect from Inkmoth). The reason Mishra's Factory loses the ability to pump is because it's not an ability granted by the activation. Mishra's Factory has that ability regardless of it being a creature or not. So when it activates, humility swipes the ability. If, hypothetically Factory happened to give itself flying when it activated (it doesn't but lets pretend it does for a moment) then it would be a 2/2 the flies.

Mox Diamonds, Crucibles, and Flagstones give me 10-11 maindeck ways to keep Magus alive post-geddon. Other than that, I get what you're saying. Thanks!

I use all of those too, but not everytime I needed to Geddon did I have one of those out

How useful was the Tabernacle for you? I've liked how my Magi give creatures fits, but I can't justify getting a Tabernacle for just one deck, plus I hate the natural inconsistency of using a single copy of anything in a deck with no tutors.

So I noticed from your Sig. Tabernacle was great, but not necessary. I did get to live the dream of casting Armageddon and then dropping Tabernacle to wrath the board. Magus wasnt going to make the cut because he kills himself if I resolve an Armageddon. Tabernacle put a serious dent in a lot of peoples plans. With Ghostly prison and/or Trinisphere it meant that they were either attacking, or casting a spell, but not both. Prohibiting players from casting new spells or prohibiting them from attacking gave me huge advantages. Over the course of the day it managed to kill 3 Delvers, 5 Nimble Mongoose, Inkwell Leviathan, 2 Tarmogoyf, Platinum Emperion, 3 Stoneforge Mystic, Batterskull Germ, and 2 Emrakul. I'd say it did its job and maybe put in some overtime.

I can't say I would endorse buying or trading for a $300 card, but if you already have one, I don't see how using it could cause any harm. All it did for me was make sure I won the game. No Big Deal. So while the deck didn't really rely on getting a Tabernacle, if you have one, I suggest you put it in the deck.

  • posted a message on Obliterator Question
A creature with Deathtouch has to deal damage in order for Deathtouch to actually do anything. So if you block with a Vampire Nighthawk, Nighthawk would deal 2 Damage to Obliterator and kill it because of deathtouch, and the obliterator would most likely deal 3 to the nighthawk and 2 to you. Nighthawk dealt 2 damage to the obliterator, so you will Sac 2 Permanents. Keep in mind that the sacrificing happens after all damage has been dealt. This means that your blocking creature is dead before you actually sacrifice the permanents. You cannot sacrifice your blocking creature to the Obliterators ability

Better depends on the rest of the deck. Sarkhan's deck is well suited to abuse Inkmoth. Inkmoth can get around Humility (and Moat if it's used), and at the same time can make use of Batterskull and Elspeth for a faster win. In my more traditional build (that really needs updating) Factory's probably still better.

I agree with everything in this post. If you don't have a way to abuse poison, Inkmoth is definitely worse than Mishra's Factory.

What you don't want to do is split your deck up too much between winning via damage and winning via poison. You're generally better off concentrating on a single path.

Exactly. Splitting up win conditions leads to lost matches. Getting them to 6 poison and 4 life doesn't win games. Focus on a single attack strategy and go from there.

For my first time ever playing Stax, I feel like the deck did what I wanted it to do. I mulled this over with some of my friends and came up with a few interesting suggestions. One was to cut the Karn for a second Karakas. This seems fine but I haven't had a bad experience with Karn that would justify removing him from the deck just yet. Karn won me a match, Karakas Didn't. Obviously I was new to Chalice of the Void, and that won't happen again. If you can't afford a Tabernacle, or don't know anyone who will let you borrow, I would cut that in favor of a second Karakas.
