How does everyone feel about using Erebos, God of the Dead in this deck? He seems like a pretty good, aggressively costed creature. Stops lifegain shenanigans cold, and he provides a lot of card advantage all while being really hard to get rid of, and once devotion goes off he's a pretty insane beater.
For those that don't know, Rats Combo is a deck that runs off of ~40 Relentless Rats, Thrumming Stone, a big mana producer like Songs of the Damned, and a mana sink (Exsanguinate). Sphinx of the Chimes is also popular for it's interaction with RR. I was wondering if this deck could work out well in French? I was thinking about using Sygg, River Cutthtroat as an extra source of cards while you wait to get your combo pieces and then just running a heavy control shell around the necessary cards. I know BUG is also a popular color combination but I personally think that UB is fine as well. Thoughts or opinions?
Didn't realize that a few of those are banned. SO I guess I'll just remove Winter Orb, Vampiric Tutor, and Mana Drain. But yes the aim of the deck is for Duel Commander.
Hey all, this is still a work in progress and I could really use some help. Basically my idea with this deck is to use a lot of mana rocks and stax/control artifacts and non-permanents to keep the board clear, and then animate all of my mana rocks, manlands, and stax stuff and attack. So far I've got a decent-ish shell but that's about it. Also, I want to keep the creature count as low as possible because I'm using the old Proteus Staff + Emrakul trick as a contingency plan.
A legendary Wall that gives all walls "T: This creature deals damage to target creature or player equal to it's toughness/the number of walls you control)." I could see it happening if they ever returned to Kamigawa as a nod to the Great Wall of China with the asian motif AND the legendary motif.
I think that for a lot of individuals (myself and my whole playgroup included) EDH/Commander has or will take over as their primary format to play. That being said I also play a lot of limited and find that both fun and a refreshing change from playing a lot of EDH.
Also, on a tangent, I don't think price means all too much and I would argue that to play Standard for any period of time (read: 1-2 rotations) gets more expensive than a few EDH builds. I say this only because that is precisely the reason my entire playgroup quit on Standard: once our cool expensive cards rotated out it got really lame, really fast.
I have Rescue from the Underworld in my deck for the time being. It seems to be right on the edge of its utility, like one of those cards that is really close to being cut but not the first thing that comes to mind when I have to make cuts. It is a really expensive reanimation spell and can leave you two-for-one'd, but regardless the Sacrifice effect nets advantage with a Grave Pact effect, and can end up bringing back an additional creature. Just recently I made a play along the lines of:
The end result for my opponents was (if I can remember/do my math correctly) sacrificing 4 creatures apiece and one guy lost his Academy Ruins. Can't remember if I had any Grave Pact effects or Blood Artist effects out, but it really can generate a lot of value.
Hey guys, so I'm thinking of putting together an Azami deck and including Master of Waves. I like him a lot in Azami because she seems to typically have a good amount of blue permanents out for the devotion, and MoW has good typing for the deck anyways, being a Wizard (the Merfolk type also helps a bit with some cards). I was trying to brainstorm so good ways to abuse the tokens and could only think to hit a big guy with Infinite Reflection. My problem, though, is that I can't think of a big blue creature that would be good enough to copy, so I'm looking for help. Some of the ideas I've had are Consecrated Sphinx and Windreader Sphinx.
I'm also looking for ways in Blue to abuse tokens (stax-y effects or something) and have no ideas of what I could use at all.
I also personally really like using a Trinket Mage package with some silver bullet-style cards, because blinking means that instead of having to get the most important silver bullet you need, thus leaving other sticky situations unresolved, you can have ALL the answers.
Mine will always and forever be Edric. If I'm feeling like I'm losing a lot ill bust him out because its my most competitive deck, and if we're going to play a few games in the night I usually start my night with him as well.
Here is my Rubinia list that will become a Roon list. I won't bog you down with all of the obvious stuff, but here's a few noteworthy cards that I think any Bant Blink deck should use:
-Champion of Lambholt is insane. Seriously. When you're blinking a few creatures per turn he can get up to a 10/10-15/15 no problem and lets you alpha strike completely unimpeded.
-Stoneforge Mystic is a somewhat typical include in blink decks, I just thought I'd mention it because if you grab it early you can put a Sword on Roon and swing with him, using his ability to blink the blocker.
-Garruk's Packleader provides additional advantage when you're blinking creatures and turns into a pretty strong card draw engine. Extra awesome with Armada Wurm.
Simple enough question, I just wanted to be sure I'm doing this right (or wrong):
If I have a creature equipped with Sword of Feast and Famine and I also have Nature's Will in play and my equipped creature attacks and deals damage, can I (since I control both effects, and because tapping for mana doesn't use the stack) let one effect resolve, tap out, and then let the second effect resolve and tap out yet again?

EDIT:
Also what do you think about Phyresis and Heartstone/Thran Turbine? I feel like they could make Tymaret a very short clock.
In a different train of thought, a Norin the Wary + Confusion in the Ranks engine is a really good repeatable steal engine.
1) Cast Fleshbag Marauder
2) Cast Rescue from the Underworld, saccing Marauder
3) Next upkeep, return Marauder and Acidic Slime then sac them both to Shattergang
