Feb 4, 2014H1jAcK posted a message on Launch Giveaway!I have a couple favorite cards. I've collect Birds of Paradise, because that was the card I lost the first time I got ripped off in a trade. I've got two in Japanese, and a French 4ED Bird that has a black border despite being 4ED. My other favorite card is Vizzerdrix. I once decided to start collecting a really bad card, and I picked Vizzerdix, and now I have over 250 of them. -JackPosted in: Announcements

That's a really interesting question, and like Ragnawar said, it will be very dependent on what big cards get printed in the next few sets. Looking through KLD block, I've found there aren't many big and exciting hits. You've got some gearhulks, but nothing as impactful as any of the eldrazi.
Maybe an Elder Deep-Fiend build could be passable*, but we're pretty dry on good hits in the format. A value Marvel plan may also work, as six-drop 'walkers on turn 4 are usually pretty good. Here's hoping the new Bolas is broken af.
*EDF rotates at the same time, nevermind.
Elder Deep-Fiend
I activate Chandra's +1 ability to exile the top card of my library. It is an EDF. Can I cast that spell using emerge, sacrificing my 3-drop and paying 2UU?
Ruinous Path
Just wanting to confirm here; if I cast Ruinous Path for its Awaken cost, targeting one of my lands to receive counters, it will not get an additional counter from the Winding Constrictor.
The key here being that the counters are placed on the land before it becomes a creature. Is this correct, and for the correct reason?

I've only played a few matches with it, can't give any hard stats or anything, but it seems to function. It's a Rites deck at its core, so if all else fails, you can turn dudes sideways. A lot of the pieces/tutors are recursive into one another, so assembling Voltron shouldn't take too long.
.:*edit:.
I forgot Soul of the Harvest is a Standard-legal card. If the deck plays another effect like that, I'd go with either that, or Quicksmith Spy.

The idea of the deck is to get Lifecrafter's Bestiary on the board, then churn through cards at mach speeds. With a Paradox Engine (and continuing to draw creatures), you can go on a pretty long string. Greenbelt Rampager + Paradox Engine can become infinte with Servant eating off the extra energy, and drawing cards with Bestiary out. Even when not going infinite, the extra mana you can net from the mana dorks can lead to a lethal Fall of the Titans, or you can just kick a Bushwhacker and swing for a lot. 14 land may not look like a lot, because it isn't, but with 6 basics tutors and 16 + 6 mana dorks, mana isn't a problem. The backup plan is to just attack with dudes; flipping Captive helps a lot with this plan. Sideboard is pure speculation.

I disagree this combo is any more fragile than Saheeli combo. I'd put them closer to even because, yes, they both stumble to well-timed creature removal, but mid-combo, a land is as difficult to deal with as a walker. Lands are also easier to deploy, so without a blocker, it's like a 1-card combo.
Slip Through Space is worth considering.

The idea here is to use repeatable investigate triggers - Tracker and Trail - to passively generate clues while pulling all the land out of your deck. Vessel and Reverse Engineering make up the draw spells, along with all the extra clues. Sigarda's Aid lets you flash in Production at the end of their turn.
I'm interested in any ideas people have for this card, this thread isn't just for discussion of the Clue version.
Traverse might not be necessary, this list started with fewer lands; but if/once you get to delirium, it can search up combo pieces. Hedron Archive lets you net a lot of extra mana with Engine, so you can churn out your artifacts. More importantly, though, it plays well with Prism to give you blue mana to cast Whir to get other combo pieces, or to cycle up green to keep casting the elephant. Deadlock Trap serves as a non-creature outlet for the energy, so the deck can go infinite without a Servant.
I probably will find room for 1 Aethersphere Harvester, since it's an energy dump that doesn't require being tapped. As it also costs three, I'm considering Trophy Mage, which would lead to some other card changes, like Archives may become Magnifying Glass. This opens up some really interesting options: Fabrication Module can turn that Servant/Ornithopter/Harvester infinitely large; Workshop Assistant offers a small amount of protection; Implement of Examination becomes a tutorable draw spell; and we've still got some cards to go on the spoiler.
