No real backstory yet, we just know that she's moved to a place where she doesn't have to/want to be a Hero. (A world of Gods.) I think she's overlooking the fact that she comes with a very good Hero-CV.
Makes me wonder if she abandoned the Mirran Resistance because she's afraid the same thing that happened in Alara might befall them... or maybe this will knock some sense into her.
Been a while since I posted. Tomorrow's going to be our playgroup's first Commander tournament to be held in an LGS, and we opened the invitation to anyone interested. There's a theme to the tournament - only dual-colored generals, which we aptly named Maze Runner 2013. I'm running a midrange Bruna. If you guys have any suggestions, they're most welcome.
BTW did I just miss out on anything, or do we already have a backstory as to why Elspeth is in Theros?
Ethan Jäger, Champion of the Masses

Legendary Creature - Human Soldier
Other Human creatures you control is a Flagbearer in addition to its other types.
While choosing targets as part of casting a spell or activating an ability, your opponents must choose at least one Flagbearer on the battlefield if able.
Ethan Jäger gets +1/+1 for each Flagbearer you control.
1/1
I've always loved tribal themes, and I think this one has both flavor and functionality.
Not sure if this already has a thread - point me to the right direction if there is
Our local playgroup will hold its very first multiplayer tournament with a current headcount of 16 players and I would really appreciate any suggestions regarding tournament structuring.
Initially we were thinking of having 4-man tables with three rounds. If you win a round, you earn 4 points. If you were the last to be eliminated, you earn 3 points. Second to be eliminated earns 2 points and the first to get eliminated gets 1 point. Most number of points at the end of the three rounds advances to the finals which will have the same structuring.
In the event of a loop which would result to someone's win, that player leaves the game with 4 points and the rest will stay to play for 3, 2, and 1. In the event of multi-kills, the players who got eliminated at the same time would just divide the remaining points evenly (if I'm at 7 life, the rest of the table at 6, then I cast Inferno, they all just get 2 points each).
Again, suggestions and feedback will be greatly appreciated.
I'm probably going to derail the thread with my next question, but I might as well ask:
What would be the best way to determine winners in a multiplayer Commander tournament which would comprise of most likely 3/4-man tables with three rounds per match? The last thing we want would be subgames to determine tiebreakers.
- Sorry about the Inferno boo-boo - Yeah, let's say I'm at 7 life and everyone else at 6. Thanks bakgat!
Someone suggested that in case of a loop, the winning player just "leaves" the game and let the remaining players play it out to determine who gets the rest of the points. Thoughts?
2goth4U - Was actually thinking of that. I appreciate the suggestion!
We're running a local multiplayer Commander tournament this weekend. The way we have decided that it goes is 4-man table, best of three rounds, most number of points wins. So let's say you're the first to be eliminated you get one point, second gets two, last to be eliminated gets three and the survivor gets four points. Some very interesting questions popped out:
- What if I'm, say, down to 8 life and everyone else on the table is at 7 life then I cast Inferno? How would the points be determined for the three who got eliminated all at the same time?
- What if someone goes on a loop that ensures his victory (Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker plus Pestermite)? How would the three who got eliminated all at the same time be given points?
If you guys also have some multiplayer scenarios and resolutions you can share, it'll help a whole lot. Thanks!
This rule change on legendaries would have been bonkers if it took effect during Counter-Rebel's heyday. It would have possibly been like Lin Sivvis here, there and everywhere like she was just a plain ol' rebel.
Avacyn is going to be the new "everyone clones this to get their own copy" creature and then we can sit around and wait for turns and turns while no one can do anything.
My sentiments exactly.
And that's just for starters. There are a lot of great clone abuse targets. Multiple Griselbrands, anyone? How about multiple Teferis?
I'm happy to see a tribe from my early years of playing resurface as "selfish". I think the "you control" part is a whole lot better than making everyone's slivers into BoPs or uncounterable.
I'm waiting for that sliver card that says, "all Slivers gain faces, limbs and other stuff that would make them a little humanoid in form."

Yeah, I was able to see that. Thanks for pointing it out.

So I wonder how boring it must be to have multiple Avacyns on the battlefield... *sigh*
Flavor.
I still have mixed emotions with this rule; but I'm already seeing angry mobs forming on the horizon.

+1. Or maybe just make an entirely new deck out of Varolz.
I doubted Rootborn Defenses too much when it was rumored, but I don't want to keep my hopes up with Varolz all the way. It's just too powerful.
Or maybe I can annoy Yawgmoth to oblivion with a bajillion Pestermites courtesy of Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker.
