    You have it entirely correct.

Assuming no abilities or spells are cast during combat...

A 3/2 double striker attacks and is blocked by two 2/1 creatures. You order them as A and B.

During the First Strike damage step, you deal damage them as follows. You have to put at least 1 damage on creature A, and then you can deal another damage to creature B. Both creatures have lethal damage marked and die.

During the standard damage step, the creature has no blockers left. It'll just swing at empty air, and then combat will be over.

If it is blocked by two 2/2's...

The 3/2 will deal 2 damage to creature A (minimum) and 1 damage to creature B. After SBEs are checked and creature A dies, you'll have a 3/2 double striker attacking, blocked by a single 2/2 creature with 1 damage marked on it.

During the standard combat step, both creatures deal damage to each other. You'll have a 3/2 creature with 2 damage marked on it, and your opponent will have a 2/2 with 4 damage marked on it. Both creatures die.

So, TL;DR - you have it exactly correct.

Playing any card from your land OTHER than your (usually) 1 land drop for the turn is casting a spell. Even a planeswalker is a spell. Other effects that use the word 'cast' like flashback or the like are also casting a spell.

... or, you know, use a card that can actually bounce a land unlike Disperse. Can't think of any examples off the top of my head. Silumgar's Command for example.

This does not help the conversation and is spam.

AS a note, Spellskite doesn't target itself with its own ability. You could always Stifle the redirect though.

In fact, you can play one Mind Sculptor, use his loyalty, play Sculptor #2, use the rule to remove the first one, then play a loyalty ability of Sculptor #2.

The planeswalker uniqueness rule is based on the Planeswalker type. They are both "Planeswalker - Jace". So when the second one enters the battlefield, IMMEDIATELY you have to get rid of one - you will not have a chance to activate a loyalty ability of the doomed 'twin'.

You put Wild Slash on the stack, choosing a designated target.
Only then does Jeskai Ascendancy triggers, putting its two triggers on the stack.

Your creatures will untap, get +1/+1, and you draw then discard a card long before Wild Slash even thinks about dealing damage.

  • posted a message on Insurrection and steal creature effects
Control effects are applied in timestamp order. Your first example - Insurrection puts a timestamp on all creatures you stole. When the Sliver Overlord uses its effect on itself, it applies a newer timestamp. When Insurrection's effect fades, the other creatures go back home to Mommy, but since the Overlord has a fresher timestamp, it stays put. (Good play BTW.)

The second effect - well, though Insurrection has the newer timestamp, it only lasts until end of turn and no creature changes control because you are in charge of both controller-change effects (Control and Insurrection). Then all stolen creatures go home at end of turn, but there's still a controller-change effect on the one enchanted with Control Magic and it'd stay put under your control.

If you activate a planeswalker's ability and it gets Stifled, does that count as the 'one use per turn' and it'll just sit bored till next turn (barring shenanigans like the Teferi walker or Chain Veil)?

  • posted a message on Oona's Exile + Rings of Brighthearth?
    Assuming the opponent doesn't interfere...

Oona's activated ability would go on the stack (X=35).
Rings of Brighthearth will trigger. You pay for it and then copy Oona's ability (also X=35), putting it onto the stack.

The copy ability will go first. You'll pick a color, mill 35 cards to exile, and perhaps get a bunch of faerie tokens.
The real ability will go second. Again, you'll pick a color (not necessarily the same color), mill 35 MORE cards, and perhaps get a bunch more faeries. And... unless you're playing commander or something, you can laugh maniacially because in most cases, your opponent will have an empty library and won't fare very well on their next draw step.

  • posted a message on New Commander Tuck Rule Question
So - if you Dash Zurgo Bellstriker (your commander) and you choose to let it go to your hand - and THEN someone tries to make you discard/exile/tuck the card, can you still return it to the Command Zone? I know that if it's on the battlefield and a destroy/exile/tuck effect hits it, it can be saved, but what about from your hand?

Of course if you control your opponent's Ashiok, you get the new Nightmare.

Note that this is a change from the original functionality which just blew up anything with the Arabian Nights scimitar.

Before the M2010 rules changes, each of the answers to the OP's questions would have been opposite. This also applies to the cards from Antiquities Golgothian Sylex and Homelands (which is the best card in the set, Apocalypse Chime - to eradicate that blight from the game).

Oh. I thought the guy talking about the Infernal Tutor meant to use the LED mana to cast the Tutor. I see now, he wanted to crack the LED to activate its hellbent to download any card he wanted, then have the LED mana there to cast THAT card.

Ummm... though it is a mana ability, it has a timing restriction - I thought they made it impossible to use LED to cast something out of your hand?
