Illusory Angel makes for a great Blue beater. Especially with spells that retain your mana like Frantic Search, Snap, and Gitaxian Probe. Smile

Though there is also the parody of Liliana Vess Blizzard put into WoW so..

That's true. It's nice when these companies give friendly nods to each other. I remember seeing that the employees of Blizzard played Magic too, in their early 90s photographs. -

Hopefully no Intellectual Property fights emerge from this. Frown Most artists play very safe when appropriating others work or seek consent.

That it definitely the blood elf.
She's printed in the Warcraft card game too I think.

These were the closest I could find: Ancestral Tribute, Archangel's Light

Here are a few other findings that are similar:
    Shadowfeed, Ancestor's Chosen, Life Burst

Against your Burn/Iona match ups, have you considered using Leylines? Leyline of Sanctity and Leyline of the Void work great against both.

Alternatively, Scavenging Ooze does double duty in one creature. Gaining life and clearing graveyards.

I like the idea. Here are some suggested cards to consider:

Trinket Mage. Ontop of fetch you Hex Parasite, also could provide disruption and temporary ramp. (Lotus Petal, Aether Vial, Engineered Explosives, Pithing Needle, Grafdigger's Cage, Meekstone, Relic of Progenitus, etc)

Starlit Sanctum makes for an uncounterable sacing-device, though cleric specific.

Interestingly, both aforementioned cards also lean towards another Combo-deck: The Nomads en-Kor/Shuko and Daru Spiritualist combination for infinite life. Sometimes it is possible to create singleton fusions or a sideboard swaps when viable/opportune.

For the deck itself, I find that Thalia disrupts you more than helps you in most scenarios. You may find yourself stumbling to cast tutors or cabal therapies for the extra cost.

An addition way to find your combo pieces would be the Living Wish method, providing more room in your deck for other cards while fitting your sideboard with combo-pieces and silver bullets (like thalia, gaddock, fuana shaman, etc).

Hope those thoughts helped, and good luck! Smile

    Goldnight Commander 3W
    Creature - Human Cleric Soldier
Whenever another creature enters the battlefield under your control, creatures you control get +1/+1 until end of turn.
    2/2

This card holds alot of potential, something akin to a pseudo-Steppe Lynx battlecry. Particularly in the obvious human/token strategies.

Thatcher Revolt alone creates a 17 life swing, if I understand this card correctly. (3 creatures enter, each triggers Commander. 5/5 commander, 3x 4/4 human haste tokens)

Hero of Bladehold, Gather the Townsfolk, Lingering Souls.. All he needs is a little support and a clear path and the damage potential is tremendous. Smile

    Thoughts/Feelings/Ideas?

    Perhaps a turn-specific Counterspell?

    UU
    Instant
Counter target spell. Play this only during your own turn.

Or perhaps one during your opponent's turn. Could be interesting. Smile

  • posted a message on [AVR] No Legendary Werewolf In AVR
Even if they introduce a new legendary Werewolf in Rtr, it won't feel the same missing the transform effect I feel. Perhaps that's just the completionist in me.

As for the Legendary effect trouble, what about a flavor-themed solution?:
Say, depict a man(or woman) fleeing from the beast in the woods. Then a transformed depiction of the beast chasing his human self? A sort of paradox.

    [X]
    1RG
    Legendary Creature - Human Werewolf
At the beginning of each upkeep, players sacrifices each creature with a converted manacost of 0. Then, if no spells were cast last turn, transform [X].
    0/2
    -
    [Y]
    Legendary Creature- Werewolf
    Indestructible
Whenever this creature transforms into [Y], each creature fights [Y].
At the beginning of each upkeep, if a player cast two or more spells last turn, transform [Y].
    3/2

    Just an idea.

  • posted a message on [AVR] Vexing Devil
I have been playtesting the Vexing Devil in my Burndeck. He definitely a welcome addition. The #4 seems to be the magic number in most cases. Smile

Early turns, I play him first unless I have Goblin Guide. An easy four.

What really becomes interesting playing these Devils turn 3-5, when my opponent reaches 10~ish life. Suddenly they enter the unknown. "Can he blow me out now?" "Or should I let the Devils be attackers?"

It becomes a Gamble for the opponent, which some may not know the answer too. "Do I risk taking the pings and a potential fireblast?" and "Can I rely on finding an answer to these creatures?"

It almost is telling of some situations, for instance bringing them down to 11-12 ish, and them letting your Vexing Devil be an attacker. "He must have an answer. Perhaps I should save my Pyroblast mana for this turn, letting him take the first move."

It would be nice if Red had a reliable bounce ability, because saving these guys for later use seems helpful.

These products are just fine, definitely great memorabilia/vanity-keepsakes without any effect on power in local environments.

I feel we (the internet) are as much to blame for Hype as Wizards. Hype is something one invests themselves into. How much you invest is up to you, but when disappointment becomes unbearable it may be time to narrow the expectation gape.

Terminus can be instant speed too with a handy draw spell..
I foresee Brainstorm being ousted from Legacy with a Ban -which may be what they are intending for the format with this much miracle leverage.
    Indirect format engineering? Frown

Homeward Path and Pit-Dweller should make for some fun Shenanigans. Smile

A 4/3 for BB should never happen. Remember, good, efficient, creatures are not in blacks color pie (regardless of what recent cards may tell you).

Black has traditionally had efficient creatures before, each possessing draw-backs just as this demon has.
Some iconic ones off the top of my head: Juzám Djinn, Flesh Reaver, Skittering Skirge. A recent addition would be Phyrexian Obliterator.

That an ms antisacrifice are going to be autoinclude in my friends' decks...
First graffdigger's cage and now this... Wizards why you no like me? Frown rip my ghave and grimgrin decks...i'll remember you fondly...

I understand your pain, especially since Angels are a popular Archetype in card circles. If it is any consultation, maybe consider Unnatural Selection/Artificial Evolution if you splash them with Grimgrin.

Ontop of protecting against this spell, those two can make for some interesting interactions. For instance, Homarid Spawning Bed + Artifical Evolution in a tribal EDH deck can make for some interesting shenanigans. Smile
