The Economist weighs in on the Sokovia Accords.

I just got finished with an hour plus long argument with my girlfriend about this actually. One thing that stands out to me especially though is the fact that Captain America's opposition makes a lot of sense given his experiences with the last agency that was supposed to oversee him.

Gilt is based largely on Trump.

The resemblance seemed uncanny, though I always got the impression that Gilt had a much stronger personal ideology than Trump.

This is honestly what confuses me the most about this whole thing. We're almost a year into this campaign, and I still don't get it. How can anybody look at Trump and not see the narcissistic sociopath? He's scarcely even bothering to pretend he isn't one.

If you read the late Terry Pratchett's book, Going Postal, there's a character in it that I immediately thought of when Trump started running.

The guy dresses like a pirate, complete with a parrot. He basically cheats people out of their companies and runs them into the ground. There's a great quote of his in the book where he's talking to his servant:

"'I must be [crazy], Igor. Either that or everyone else is,' said Gilt. 'I mean, I show them what I do, I show them how the cards are marked, I tell them what I am . . . and they nudge one another and grin and each one of them thinks himself no end of a fine fellow to be doing business with me. They throw good money after bad. They believe themselves to be sharp operators, and yet they offer themselves like little lambs. How I love to see their expressions when they think they're being astute.'"

Oh yeah, there's a guy in Supertroopers but that was like 15 years back. Mother of god.

Now I think about it, there aren't that many black major characters either really. Aside from like, sporting and military characters.

    Star Wars 7 :3

Asians/Asian-Americans show up fairly frequently as tech people as well. They generally are given secondary roles though. Can't think of too many leads.

I think it did. Hitting the highs of Wreck-It Ralph is not difficult, because that movie was distinctly mediocre, and it hit the high of Frozen so hard it stung with Idris Elba's "Let It Go" joke.

There's one particular scene in Wreck-it-Ralph that almost always leaves me in tears and Zootopia really never came close in that regard. Otherwise I agree.

Restricting pi to a year means never being able to celebrate pi "day" again. Since we call it pi "day" it should be a specific day of every year. So you're wrong, and so are the people who think it was last year or this year.

I thought it was less whether one was Pi Day as opposed to the other, and more a question of which Pi Day was the better Pi Day

Clearly 3/14/16 because that's today and I'll take a current Pi day over a past one any day. Function over form!

Disney has churned out another great movie here. I've seen it twice already and I've been blown away both times. The conclusion is a bit predictable, but the story is overall engaging, the characters are hilarious (Nick and Judy's chemistry is a lot of fun in particular), and the visuals are STUNNING. I honestly would argue it's worth the price of admission just to watch the Zootopia introduction panning montage!

Anyone else seen it? What are your thoughts?

I finally got around to watching Hunter x Hunter. Jeebus that lived up to the hype (sans the Zoldeyck arc and part of Chimeric Ant where the narrator wouldn't shut up). Immediately jumped to #3 of all time for me and KilluaXGon is one of my favorite character pairings I think I've ever seen

Also watched through Kono Suba (or at least up through ep 9). It's good solid fun and I appreciate the fact that it doesn't take itself seriously. Solid 7.5ish/10

Just finished Danganronpa. Waste of time >.<

Watching Erased as well. It seems solid, but I'm pretty sure that I've figured out the villain for a while now.

It's SC primary day. Polls indicate that Trump should dominate. Time to see if they hold up

How does the IA result favor or hurt Bernie? I personally put it at a slight advantage, but not what he would have liked going forward into rougher territory after NH

In general, a HUGE amount of republicans think Trump is absolutely unacceptable as the nominee. However, in a wide field of candidates that doesn't really matter. He's almost no one's second choice, but that's how out the spoiler effect works.

Surprising, I would have thought a lot of Cruz backers would prefer him to Rubio

So, update: I ended up having a long chat with my girlfriend. We both laid out a lot of our long term aspirations, goals, plans etc as well as discussing how to handle things post graduation. We both agreed that neither of us want to get married immediately after graduation, but both also see each other as potential long term partners. While she said she'd still prefer it if I were able to live near her, she's mostly interested in whether or not I'm committed to this (I think I am). Obviously, there's a long road ahead, but I feel for the first time in while like I'm starting to have something resembling a map and a companion for the journey Smile

Thanks for all of the advice guys and for making sure my head was on straight!
