The End of an Era

The worst thing you could possibly do is give this deck a bunch of dead draws by putting one mana spells in it. Either play chalice.. or one mana spells. Not both. Anyway the thing about counters is not to worry about them. Every play this deck makes is a must answer play. So instead of ruining the decklist.. just keep dropping lock pieces and threats.. they will run out of counters.

I hear what your saying. But if you want to go down that road we would have to ban petal qnd dark ritual. And maybe chrome mox and mox diamond to have any effect. Im trying to ban the least cards possible and keep the most cards in the format. I'm glad someone got my point. The reason for the dominance of blue tempo decks is that pure aggro cant beat combo. So reduce combo and aggro can step back in.

Right. You said it. Aggro dosent have FOW. You nailed it. And why do you need FOW? To Hymn yourself to stop a one drop creature? Nope. To stop a game winning combo. And goblins run port and thalia cause otherwise it just loses to combo. Right. And because Goblins is slowing itself down.. blue tempo can beat it. Play Winsitgator Goblins without Port or Thalia vs the Delver decks. I promise you Goblins win more. And I never said I wanted the storm mechanic banned. The other storm cards are fine and would let u play storm combo if you want. But Tendrils fires off twice as fast as the other storm spells. I faster TRUE aggro deck with fast creatures and burn can beat blue tempo on a regular basis. But they lose to combo. Slow down combo and aggro.. TRUE aggro can come back.. promise you bolt can kill a delver.. and the aggro player keeps playing threats while delver player.. ponders..

I respect your opinion but saying things again just means you didn't get my point. So I shall try to be more clear. I suggest a tendrils ban not because I hate it or lose to it or any other reason then the fact that its mere presence breaks so many other cards. Without it combo would be slower and aggro could have a chance. Show and Tell punishes decks without FOW and is close to a Tinker. I never said it was as powerful and clearly said its maybe not as powerful but very close. The facts are Show and Tell decks try for a turn 2 win. Not sure how that is much different then what tinker is trying to do. Top breaks countertop. Try playing countertop without top.. right. Bye bye terminus. Again good for aggro decks. And if aggro decks were playable they would at least make delver decks somewhat less dominating. And the format would be healthier. But people want to keep responding saying im just mad at cards or whatever and clearly ignore what im saying. The point is a blue dominated format is not preferred. And you cant play true aggro cause it just loses to combo. That's why aggro with disrupting.. what we call tempo.. dominates. I've been playing mtg since 94. So please don't think im some kid who just stared and will "come around". This is a well thought out plan and would like some feedback on what people think about it. Not snarky comments that I am mad at storm combo.. because it just shows you are ignoring my argument and trying to be clever.

Aggro was pushed out of legacy because it cant compete with combo. This caused the rise of blue based control decks and tempo decks to dominate. I'm proposing cutting back a little on combo.. allowing aggro to come back and making the format more diverse. I take it you are fine with a brainstorm dominant format? I think I have proposed a least a step in the right direction. I would like to see a format where you can play aggro, control, tempo and combo. Brainstorm based decks are just too good. And getting rid of brainstorm wont solve that with all the good cards blue has. I have thought a lot on it and think this may help us have a better format. Mind you I have no problem with combo being in the format. It would still be there with Dredge, NO, All Spells, Belcher, High Tide, Depths combo and more. Have you ever played Zoo or Goblins vs Delver.. they crush Delver.. the reason they got pushed out is combo and countertop.. more aggro means less Delver..

All cards have cards you can board in that are good vs them. A counterspell can stop tinker, yawgmoth's will, black lotus.. not sure what your point is. And on other point. A lot of people are saying they are for a ban of brainstorm. Guess what is good vs brainstorm.. mental misstep.

And here comes the reactionary posts dismissing my views and eager to go back to complaining about brainstorm for a few more years. I am for banning the broken card.. not the enabler. Tendrils by its existence makes a lot of cards unplayable and needing of bans. In the format I talked about.. what are you tutoring for? Belcher? Spy? Maniac? We already have Infernal Tutor, Burning Wish, Living Wish, Enlightened Tutor.. is Demonic Tutor really THAT much more powerful? I feel its safe. Show and Tell is on the same power level as Tinker, or at least if Tinker is a 10 then Show is a 9.5. And Top being in the format slows games down to such a huge degree. Also with Brainstorm and Treasure Cruise in the format I think Top just pushes blue control decks like CounterTop to being overpowered. I would appreciate if people either A. Ignore my post if you have nothing constructive to say about it. or B. Give a well thought out opinion or counter argument. Tell me what decklist would be sooo overpowered by Demonic Tutor in the format with Tendrils and Show gone? And to be clear.. Im not advocating a ban of Tendrils because I " lose a lot to it " or whatever snarky comment you want to make. Im advocating its ban cause there are a lot of cards on the ban list BECAUSE or tendrils. Getting rid of it would allow more cards in the format.

Wow. So many bad topdecks and dead draws. I think if you tested that deck you would see how horrible it runs.

If I had control of the ban list for legacy this is what I would do. Ban Tendrils of Agony, Show and Tell, Sensei's Divining Top. Unban Mental Misstep, Black Vise, Mind Twist and Demonic Tutor. I think that would make a enjoyable format.

Breaker of Stones. Standard common. Unplayable in Legacy.
On Ashen Zombie and Howling Abyss.. Adding a tap to its ability would make it not the card I want. And for Howling Abyss.. Im not sure why you think it should be worded 'after upkeep'.. I don't think ive ever seen a card worded like that. What does that even mean?

I'm mainly a legacy player and would love to see these two cards printed.

    Ashen Zombie BB
    Creature - Zombie ( rare )
Sacrifice a Zombie: Add B to your mana pool.
    2/1

    Howling Abyss BBB
    Enchantment ( rare )
At the end of each players upkeep, that player sacrifices a creature, artifact or land. If that player can not, they lose 2 life.

No that's a useless card. You are already running Tombs and Cities. Which can also power out the rest of your cards. Where as Heartless only works for maybe 8 cards in your deck? It would slow you down a turn and a horrible top deck. Pass. AND it makes your clock weaker! The whole point is to lock your opp and then finish him as fast as possible. Think about it this way.. you could be playing Chalice or Void or.... Heartless? Pass.
