Thank you for this discussion! It's definitely been enlightening so far. I'm with Pulse in wanting the color pie clearly defined in a block and even within each set.
I'm going to go with Sudden Storm here. It seems like there are just a lot of places where two frozen guys can win you the game over a 3/2 with a heroic upside.
Just curious what people would go with in this pool? I had a hard time figuring out exactly what I wanted to do, but came to a decision with enough time to piece together what I thought was a decent deck that just ended up going 2-2.
I'm just curious after seeing the commons and uncommons available in BNG whether anyone is changing their pick of which seeded pack they're going to take?
Personally, I think that seeing red and blue's commons makes me want to pick between them. Red's critters don't seem as good, but their spells are nice, whereas Blue's critters are all decent, but the spells aren't quite as awesome as Theros ones were.
I may just end up flipping a coin, but I'd love to see what people think they're going to choose now that they've seen the whole set.

I list Pauper, but I don't actually have any decks for that format made yet. I need to break down and have someone go through a basic primer for the format sometime here!
I certainly appreciate this community and the help I've gotten just from continuing to read threads and draftcaps and the like. It has made the few drafts I do actually get in on MTGO profitable and I've avoided the dreaded 0-3 mostly due to the advanced understanding this forum ends up providing on Limited play and specific environments.
Thanks, MTGS Limited forum, and have a happy set of holidays, everyone!
I'm with Ferenczys here. U/B is a lot better of a choice, giving you a massive amount of tempo and removal spells and great card quality overall.
Returned Phalanx is awesome for a 2 drop and you got two!
I think the only thing I would change from Ferenczys's build would be playing Mnemonic Wall instead of Fleshmad Steed to get back one of your many good spells.
So with this, we can say "We need a hero!" and mean it.
I really like that this gives +4/+4 for three mana in white and we're not going to be limited to having to do a white/green crossover to get Heroic going.
I was shady on the phantom events before, but this makes it so I'll never participate in them anymore. Phantom points, indeed!
I'm with Phyrre, there's a lot of dumb mistakes Wizards seems to make with MTGO. You'd think someone somewhere would realize how much more they could make if it was truly a quality product.
Please listen to the podcast :). The talk about pretty much the exact situation your'e describing - their UU wincon example is aetherling - and they both categorically recommend against splashing for a double costed finisher like that without 6-7 sources (and then it's not really a splash)
Thanks for the link to the podcast! I learned a lot too, being terrible with manabases myself. We should really have a sticky with basic resources like this and info for people interested in getting into Limited.
I think this would give you all of the power your draft pool is capable of and make a lot of games ridiculous for your opponents' chances of actually sticking a threat. 8 pieces of removal is nice, even if they're a little slow. Mono-Black doesn't look too bad either, but I couldn't pass up removal and the solid two critters you got, since they both change the board state all by themselves. Only negative I can see is 13 critters and I couldn't find any of your spells to get rid of that made another Child of Night more useful.
I may be totally off base here, but I think WB is your best bet. Red doesn't have enough critters. Green just doesn't have any removal, though I really like Rootwalla and Trollhide. And Blue doesn't have enough critters, though I like Disperse and Frost Breath a lot.
Disperse was the bomb for me this weekend. I had two Time Ebb as well, but ended up playing card drawing spells instead to try and make my deck a little more consistent. I did end up siding in a Time Ebb over my Opportunity against one opponent that just had a lot of auras, but mostly stayed with my Divination and Opportunity.
So I think your idea is probably a valid one. I'll definitely be grabbing Disperse early and may end up getting Time Ebb a little sooner or using it to shore up a removal suite.

I wonder if there's a cycle of these cards. I'd love to see what others think the cycle would entail!
