You know, I never really understood the whole
"We are really really small compared to some other big thing = no objective purpose" argument. I don't think it matters either way, and I don't think either way can be given evidence. Sure the thing may be insignificant compared to this larger object, but who says that means it has no purpose in the overall scheme of things?? I think we have a purpose simply because of the fact that we can ponder that fact. Figuring out what that is, is a little more difficult, but I think it is to find a career and do what you love for almost the entirety of your life. I think most people can't be truly happy without being married, so that may also come with, even if you believe in your heart that being happy isn't the purpose to life, you'll probably do what makes you happy anyways.

So down to what I think the purpose of life is:
"To love God, and to love others."

I apologize for the interjection, people seem to be going at, which from my observations, are where these threads head, is a couple people arguing.

But isn't this just point counting? Oh hey look at this article, of one person making a conscious choice to do something to gender A, while they are gender B. What oppression? Everyone has the power to make choices, and this is supposed to create some sort of bias, that one gender is better off than the other? No one can possibly prove either way, even though that has probably already been stated somewhere I haven't looked, or somewhere I skimmed over. I apologize if it is.

I will say, that I don't really agree with the article the OP has stated, and I want to tread carefully, so I don't make any this-guy-sucks-therefore-all-guys-suck or vice versa claims. I think for most of time, women technically had it better off, because the men went into danger to get food, what-not, in hunter gather times, which is the great majority of human history.
So women tend to live longer, that doesn't really say much for their privilege, I mean I don't want to be that guy, but this world is a pretty crappy place, and getting old sucks a lot, so them being able to live longer might not even be a privilege. I'm not saying human life isn't precious, but a lot of suffering comes with age, but I guess the other way can be argued as well, because I am not presenting facts, just my overall outlook and opinion.

Now in modern western society, which is where I live, (I will not try to look at all regions of the world, because I know nothing of the situations there.) I think men are better off in the job market in terms of leader positions slightly, but this gap is evening out, slowly. The pay being more a bit ridiculous, especially if they are doing the exact same job. The whole blood-crazed equality for women movements, brooding a hatred for men, are a bit much, and derail the progress of their own organization by thinking and acting according to that. But like other people have already stated, what do they really want?
    Equality or special treatment?
    Because both simultaneously is impossible.

It just seems to be a socio-economic law for people who are not in power to try to gain power, by whatever screwed up rationalizable means necessary. Even if that means making claims for some sort of reparations or special treatment to reach equality, when they don't actually want equality, they want their oppressor to becomes the oppressed and make them feel the hate and despair, which only continues the cycle of the social power struggle. We all have this sort of inherent want for people to become punished for their actions, a sort of third-view vengeance if you will. But bring this onto someone or a group of people, means they will only again rise up against you, and do the same, and so on, and so forth.
Nobody ever said life was fair, but nobody said that unfairness is to be tolerated, when someone consciously makes a choice to cause it either.

I guess it is a fun discussion but when people start throwing stats and articles at each other trying to prove something objectively it becomes like a dog trying to chase it's own tail, and no truth is really obtained. It has been enjoyable to read all of your insights on this however, people from many different age groups, races, and backgrounds, are bound to have different perspectives on this issue.

Well this was a big, long rant, that pretty much went nowhere, I congratulate you for winning an internetz for reading this, along with a cookie.
    Good day.

Ok first of all, a cat can not even come close to a Mom in terms of significance to the person, but I sort of get what your saying, or what analogy you are making?

I have not experienced a death of a loved one, but I would imagine the only way to maintain your sanity is to get your mind off of it, and stop focusing on what you have lost, and focus on what good things you have in your life. Relationships you have with other family members, friends etc. I don't know if you believe in an afterlife, or if you're mom is in a better place right now. But that last thing your mom would want you to do, is dwell on her death. Be happy,.....For her! This as good a cause as any if not better than most. Smile I am sure this is much easier said than done, but that would be my only advice to you.

Good luck to you on your journey, and I hope you can reconcile your lost loved one.

    Much love.....

Dude just move on srsly. Girls are a dime a dozen, one girl probably isn't worth the amount of time and effort you spend thinking about her especially if she isn't even in a relationship with you. Just focus on you, and improving yourself, if she comes around whatever, but just move on to pursuing other girls, because all you are going to get out of this is misery. I think the word love here is also wrong, because how can you truly love someone that does not love you? unless it is your kid or something. I think the term "infatuated with her" is more appropriate but I don't know the whole situation....
Did you date her at all or have a relationship with her previously?

Did you receive any burns on your body from this? because I would say that is a legitimate reason to get her fired for you not really feeling safe at work, watching what you say all the time, looking over your shoulder.

I think it could have been avoided if you didn't "provoke her" further, but that doesn't even come close to an excuse for her behavior, trying to cause bodily harm to you because you were talking about ******* lion king. She doesn't seem too stable. Have never met a girl like that before, seems a bit unlegit.

    Quote from Madding
Please, give us some more details on this reasoning, I fear you've come across as pretty foolish.

"Bless you" is a very serious thing, it is as if I am saying a prayer for someone when they just sneezed which is just absurd. I think people should sneeze, and that's it. I don't understand where bless you came from, and it just doesn't make any sense to say that to someone you don't know just because they sneezed.

I don't even say bless you. I don't think that it should be said, and the tradition is just stupid. I just expect someone else to do it, and if they don't, I could really care less.
